The details of the soundtrack album for the supernatural action film Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter have been revealed. The abum features the film’s original music composed by Henry Jackman (X-Men: First Class, Puss in Boots). According to The Playlist, Alberto Iglesias will be scoring the crime drama Out of the Furnace. The film is written and directed by Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart) and stars Christian Bale and Casey Affleck as two brothers in an economically depressed part of the American Rust Belt. When one brother has to go to prison, the other is lured into a ruthless gang. Woody Harrelson, Zoe Saldana, Forest Whitaker, Willem Dafoe and Sam Shepard are co-starring in the movie. Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Killoran (Red Riding Hood, Orphan) are producing through Appian Way and  Ridley Scott, Tony Scott and Michael Costigan (Cyrus, Being Flynn) are producing for Scott Free Productions. Milan Records will be releasing the official soundtrack album for William Friedkin’s upcoming Southern thriller Killer Joe. The album features the guitar driven score from the film composed by Tyler Bates (300, Watchmen), as well as a cover of the song These Boots Are Made For Walkin produced by Bates and performed by Nan Vernon. The soundtrack will be released on July 24, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips from all tracks on the album can be checked out below. The cover art for the soundtrack release of this summer’s tentpole picture The Amazing Spider-Man has been revealed. The album featuring the film’s original music composed and conducted by James Horner will be released in the US on July 3, 2012 and in several international markets the week before. Michael Brook has been tapped to score the upcoming coming-of-age drama The Perks of Being a Wallflower. The film is written and directed by Stephen Chbosky (creator of the cult TV show Jericho) based on his own novel and stars Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, Ezra Miller, Paul Rudd, Kate Walsh, Nina Dobrev, Mae Whitman and Dylan McDermott. The movie follows a 15-year-old introverted freshman who copes with his first love, the suicide of his best friend and his own mental illness. John Malkovich, Lianne Halfon & Russell Smith (Juno, Ghost World, Young Adult) are producing the Summit Entertainment production. Stanley Clarke has composed the score for the upcoming cop drama Freelancers. The film is directed by Jessy Terrero (Soul Plane) and stars Robert De Niro, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Forest Whitaker, Ryan O’Nan, Dana Delany, Beau Garrett and Malcolm Goodwin. The movie follows the son of a murdered NYPD police officer who gains the patronage of his father’s former partner and joins his rogue task force. Jackson, Randall Emmett & George Furla (16 Blocks, Righteous Kill) are producing the Cheetah Vision and Emmett/Furla Films production. L. Philippe Casseus has written the project’s screenplay. The crime drama marks Clarke’s first scoring assignment in several years. His most recent credits include the 2008 films Soul Men starring Samuel L. Jackson & Bernie Mac and First Sunday starring Ice Cube. The composer who is also known as a jazz composer and bass player has previously written the scores for such hit films as Boyz n the Hood, Passengers 57, The Transporter and Romeo Must Die. ‘The Pact’ Soundtrack Announced

Movie Score Media’s Screamworks Records will be releasing a soundtrack album for the horror film The Pact. The album includes the original score composed by Ronen Landa, which features performances by violinist Anna Bulbrook (of indie rock band The Airborne Toxic Event) and pianist Dan Tepfer. The soundtrack will be released on June 12, 2012. The Pact is directed by Nicholas McCarthy and stars Caity Lotz, Haley Hudson, Kathleen Rose Perkins, Sam Ball, Mark Steger, Dakota Bright, Agnes Bruckner and Casper Van Dien. The movie follows a woman who is struggling to deal with the  aftermath of her mother’s death while discovering terrifying truths about her family’s past and the house she grew up in. Clint Mansell is scoring the upcoming psychological thriller Stoker. The film is helmed by Korean director Park Chan-wook (Oldboy) and stars Mia Wasikowska, Nicole Kidman, Matthew Goode, Dermot Mulroney and Jacki Weaver. The Fox Searchlight Pictures production centers on a teenage girl who must deal with the unexpected appearance of a mysterious uncle following the death of her father. Wentworth Miller (Prison Break) has written the film’s script under the pseudonym Ted Foulke. Ridley and Tony Scott, as well as Michael Costigan (Being Flynn, Smart People) are producing the director’s first English language feature film through their Scott Free Productions company. Only one new movie is opening in wide release this weekend:

Expected to top the weekend box office is Universal Pictures’ epic fantasy adventure Snow White and the Huntsman directed by Rupert Sanders and starring Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron, Lily Cole, Sam Claflin, Sam Spruell, Ian McShane, Nick Frost, Bob Hoskins, Toby Jones and Eddie Marsan. The film’s score is composed by James Newton Howard. The composer was also involved in the original song Breath Of Life by Florence + the Machine, which is featured on the soundtrack album along with the score and is available on Universal Republic. Opening in semi-wide is the historical epic For Greater Glory (aka Cristiada) directed by Dean Wright about the Cristeros War (1926-1929) and starring Andy Garcia, Eva Longoria, Bruce Greenwood, Nestor Carbonell and Peter O’Toole. James Horner has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced yet. Horner recorded his score with a 100-piece orchestra in May of last year at Abbey Road Studios in London. Johan Söderqvist will be recording his orchestral score for the epic drama Kon-Tiki this weekend at Abbey Road Studios in London. The film directed by Espen Sandberg & Joachim Rønning (Bandidas, Max Manus) marks Norway’s most expensive feature film to date and tells the story of Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl’s voyage on a balsa-wood raft across the Pacific Ocean in 1947. Heyerdahl and his crew traveled  across open sea to prove his scientific theory that the Polynesian people originally came from Peru in South America. The film’s cast includes Pål Sverre Hagen, Agnes Kittelsen, Odd-Magnus Williamson, Tobias Santelmann, Donald Baasmo Christiansen, James Oftebro and Gustaf Skarsgård and Søren Pilmark. Jeremy Thomas (The Last Emperor, A Dangerous Method, Sexy Beast) and Aage Aaberge (Strings) are producing the Nordisk Film Production project. Read the rest of this entry »
