On August 3, 2012, A Symphony of Hope: The Haiti Project will have its world premiere live concert as part of the Grand Performances Music, Movement and Meaning program in downtown Los Angeles. The music will be performed by the Hollywood Studio Symphony Orchestra and Choir and conducted by Lukas Richman. The event also features special guest performances by composer Mark Isham and Lucy Schwartz. In addition to the free concert, there will also be a Fundraising Dinner and Silent Auction before the concert. Christopher Lennertz to Score ‘Thanks for Sharing’

Christopher Lennertz has taken over scoring duties on the indie comedy drama Thanks for Sharing. The film marks the directorial debut of Stuart Blumberg who has received an Academy Award nomination for co-writing the screenplay for 2010’s The Kids Are All Right. Mark Ruffalo, Gwyneth Paltrow, Tim Robbins, Joely Richardson, Patrick Fugit, Josh Gad and Alecia Moore are starring in the movie, which revolves around a group of unlikely friends in a 12-step program for recovering sex addicts in New York City. Blumberg shares writing credit with actor Matt Winston. The dramedy is produced by Olympus Pictures’ Leslie Urdang, Dean Vanech & Miranda de Pencier (Beginners) who previously worked with Lennertz on the 2009 drama Adam starring Hugh Dancy and Rose Byrne. ‘The Bourne Legacy’ Soundtrack Details

Varese Sarabande Records has announced the details of the soundtrack release for Tony Gilroy’s action thriller The Bourne Legacy. The album features the film’s original score composed by James Newton Howard. Also included is a new version of Moby’s song Extreme Ways, which has been featured in all of the previous three films in the Bourne series. The soundtrack will be released on July 31, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips will be added to this article in a couple of weeks. Director M. Night Shyamalan has confirmed on Twitter that he will be reuniting with composer James Newton Howard on his next feature After Earth. The sci-fi movie stars Will and Jaden Smith as a father and son who crash-land on Earth one thousand years after mankind has abandoned the planet. The crash leaves the father badly injured and the son must trek across the hostile terrain to recover their rescue beacon. Gary Whitta (The Book of Eli) and Stephen Gaghan (Traffic, Syriana) have written the screenplay with Shyamalan. The director is also producing with Smith, James Lassiter (I Am Legend, The Karate Kid) and Caleeb Pinkett for Overbrook Entertainment. Comic-Con 2012 Film Music Panel Roundup

Following our previous report on the film music-related events at this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego, more film composers have been announced to participate in the Behind the Music with CW3PR: Perfect Sound for TV & Film panel. In addition to the previously announced Trevor Morris, Robert Duncan and Danny Jacob, as well as singers Lisbeth Scott and Laura Dickinson, Marc Shaiman has joined the panel. The composer is coming off co-writing the songs, as well as scoring the first six episodes of the first season of NBC’s Smash, which he also executive produced. Another recent addition is composer/songwriter Michael Penn who recently scored the first season of the new HBO hit comedy Girls created by Lena Dunham and produced by Judd Apatow. Sony Masterworks will be releasing the soundtrack album for John Hillcoat’s western Lawless. The album features the film’s original music composed by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis who previously scored the director’s features The Proposition and The Road. The soundtrack will be released on August 28, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The full soundtrack details will be posted on this site within the next couple of weeks. Lawless starring Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, Jason Clarke, Guy Pearce, Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska. Nick Cave has also written the project’s screenplay, which is based on the novel The Wettest County in the World by Matt Bondurant. Antonio Pinto has signed on to score the upcoming film adaptation of The Host based on the sci-fi novel written by Stephenie Meyer (Twilight). The movie is written and directed by Andrew Niccol and stars Saoirse Ronan as Melanie Stryder, a human living among an alien race called Souls in a dystopian future, whose body and mind is inhabited by a soul named Wanderer. Max Irons, Jake Abel, William Hurt, Diane Kruger, Frances Fisher, Chandler Canterbury and Boyd Holbrook are co-starring. Meyer is producing the film with Nick Wechsler (Magic Mike, The Time Traveler’s Wife), as well as Steve Schwartz & Paula Mae Schwartz (The Road, Killing Them Softly) of Chockstone Pictures. Varese Sarabande has announced two new titles in the label’s limited edition soundtrack series. First up is a soundtrack album for the family comedy A Thousand Words. The album features the film’s original score composed by John Debney. The CD is limited to 1000 copies and is available for pre-order on Varese’s website, where you can also listen to audio clips and check out the track list. A video from the orchestral score’s recording sessions can be checked out on YouTube. A Thousand Words directed by Brian Robbins and starring Eddie Murphy, Ariel Winter, Kerry Washington and Allison Janney opened in theaters earlier this year. La-La Land Records will be releasing a soundtrack album for the animated TV show Green Lantern: The Animated Series. The album features more than 70 minutes from the series composed by Frederik Wiedmann. The composer received an Annie nomination for his work on the show earlier this year. The soundtrack will be released on August 21, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Green Lantern: The Animated Series based on the DC Comics character follows the adventures of Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern of Sector 2814, and his warrior ally, Kilowog in their battle against the Red Lanterns, led by the villain Atrocitus.
