Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) will continue its support for Sundance Institute’s Film Music Program, which collaborates with Skywalker Sound to host the Sundance Institute Music and Sound Design Labs at Skywalker Sound. The first 2016 session of the lab begins July 7 at Skywalker Ranch and provides an opportunity for composers and directors to explore the collaborative process of writing music for feature film and is a joint venture of the Institute’s Film Music Program and Feature Film Program. The second session of the Lab begins on July 22 and will focus on composing for documentaries and is a joint venture of the Film Music Program and Documentary Film Program. The program aims to give composers first-hand experience working on film music and sound design, and to give directors insight into the process as well.

At the Lab, fellows work with a variety of Creative Advisors, including film composers, sound designers, filmmakers and film industry professionals. The program aims to give composers first-hand experience working on film music and sound design, and to give directors insight into the process as well.
BMI Continues to Support Sundance Institute at LA Composers Lab
Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) will continue its support for the Sundance Institute and is collaborating with the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills to present two events exploring the role of music in film. On Sunday, March 30, at 2:00pm composer Peter Golub, director of the Sundance Institute Film Music Program, will host Composers Lab: LA On Stage featuring BMI composer Harry Gregson-Williams (The Chronicles of Narnia, Shrek, Kingdom of Heaven) who will share insight into his creative techniques including a live demonstration of his work.
BMI Supports Sundance Institute Music and Sound Design Labs at Skywalker Sound
Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) continues its support for Sundance Institute’s Film Music program which has just launched its new collaboration with Skywalker Sound to host the Sundance Institute Music and Sound Design Labs at Skywalker Sound in 2013 and 2014. The Music and Sound Design Lab for documentaries ran June 3 through June 10, and the session for feature films will run from July 10 through July 25. This is the first time Sundance Institute and Skywalker Sound are collaborating to support independent filmmakers and film composers and marks a significant expansion of the Institute’s former Composers Labs to include sound design. At the Lab, Fellows work with a variety of Creative Advisors, a group of film composers, sound designers, filmmakers and film industry professionals.
