’10 Years’ Soundtrack Details

Relativity Music Group will be releasing a soundtrack album for the ensemble comedy drama 10 Years. The album features the film’s songs by artists including Oscar Isaac, Alexander, Bibio, Willie Wright, Bushwalla, Pharcyde, Rogue Wave and Joe Perdy. Also included is a suite from the movie’s score composed by Chad Fischer (Garden State, Chasing Mavericks). The soundtrack will be released digitally on September 11, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. 10 Years is written and directed by Jamie Linden and stars Channing Tatum, Rosario Dawson, Justin Long, Kate Mara, Oscar Isaac, Ron Livingstone, Max Minghella, Lynn Collins, Ari Graynor, Chris Pratt, Aubrey Plaza, Scott Porter and Antony Mackie. Earlier this past week, the Cartoon Network premiered Dreamworks Animation’s Dragons: Riders of Berk based on the Academy Award-nominated hit film How to Train Your Dragon. The show’s voice talent includes the cast from the movie, including Jay Baruchel, America Ferrera, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and T. J. Miller. John Paesano (Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas) is composing the series’ music and is incorporating John Powell’s themes from the feature version into his score. The first episode is available to download for free on iTunes and the show airs every Tuesday night on the Cartoon Network. Max Richter’s ‘Lore’ Soundtrack Released

Porchlight Films has released a soundtrack album for the World War II drama Lore. The album features the film’s original score composed by Max Richter (Waltz With Bashir). The soundtrack is now available digitally on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips. Lore is directed by Cate Shortland (Sommersault) and stars Saskia Rosendahl, Kai Malina, Ursina Lardi and Nele Trebs. The film set is in 1945 Germany at the end of the war and follows five children whose Nazi parents have been taken into custody by the Allies. The German/Australian/Scottish co-production premiered at the Sydney Film Festival this summer and has been selected as the Australian entry for the Best Foreign Language category at the 85th Academy Awards. Two new movies are opening wide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the thriller The Words written and directed by Brian Klugman and Lee Sternthal and stars Bradley Cooper, Olivia Wilde, Zoe Saldana, Jeremy Irons, Dennis Quaid, Ben Barnes, John Hannah, J.K. Simmons and Nora Arnezeder. The film’s music is composed by Marcelo Zarvos (The Good Shepherd, The Door in the Floor). Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. For audio clips and the full album details, check out our soundtrack announcement. Also opening wide is the action thriller The Cold Light of Day directed by Mabrouk El Mechri and starring Henry Cavill, Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver. Spanish composer Lucas Vidal (The Raven) who has just been nominated in the Discovery of the Year category for the World Soundtrack Awards this week has composed the film’s score. ‘Looper’ Soundtrack Details

Cut Narrative will release the original soundtrack for Rian Johnson’s sci-fi thriller Looper. The album features the film’s score composed by Nathan Johnson who previously scored the director’s Brick and The Brothers Bloom. The soundtrack will be released digitally on September 18, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips can be checked out after the jump. Looper starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, Jeff Daniels, Noah Segan and Piper Perabo follows a mob hitman who is assigned to kill his own future self. For the score, Johnson gathered a wide range of field recordings and created a sort of playable, hybrid found-sound orchestra using those original recordings with his team. The results were combined with live strings and horns to produce deep textures featuring pitched industrial fans, tuned treadmills, and a wide range of intricate rhythmic elements.  Read the rest of this entry »

Trevor Jones Scoring ‘Labyrinth’ Mini-Series

Trevor Jones has recently scored the adventure mini-series Labyrinth. The series is directed by Christopher Smith (Severance, Triangle) and is based on the bestseller by Kate Mosse. Adrian Hodges (My Week With Marilyn, Primeval) has adapted the material for television. The four-hour mini-series’ cast includes Jessica Brown Findlay, Tom Felton, John Hurt, Sebastian Stan, Vanessa Kirby, Emun Elliott, Tony Curran, John Lynch and Bernhard Schir. Labyrinth is set against the backdrop of the Crusades and the Cathar massacres and tells two connected stories of a young woman living in Carcassonne in 1209 and a modern-day archaeologist who makes a startling discovery in a cave in the South of France. Sony Music will be releasing a soundtrack album for the French comedy Haute Cuisine (Les saveurs du palais). The album features the film’s original music written by Academy Award-winning composer Gabriel Yared (The English Patient, The Talented Mr. Ripley). The soundtrack will be released in France on September 17, 2012. Click here to listen to audio clips of all 14 tracks on the album. Haute Cuisine directed by Christian Vincent and starring Catherine Frot and Jean D’Ormesson follows a renowned chef  who is appointed by President François Mitterrand as his personal cook. The movie will be released in France on September 19. The Weinstein Company has acquired domestic rights for the film, but no release date has been announced yet. Read the rest of this entry »

Sony Classical is set to release two of this year’s most anticipated soundtracks, including the album for the latest James Bond film Skyfall. The release features the film’s music composed by Thomas Newman. The soundtrack is set to be released overseas on October 22, 2012 and is expected to come out in the US around the same time. Skyfall directed by Sam Mendes and starring Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem,  Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, Berenice Marlohe, Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney and Ben Whishaw marks Newman’s first film in the Bond series. Lakeshore Records has announced a score album for the indie comedy For a Good Time, Call The album features the film’s original score composed by John Swihart (Napoleon Dynamite, How I Met Your Mothers). The soundtrack will be released digitally on September 11, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips can be checked out below. As previously announced, the label has also released a separate soundtrack album featuring the movie’s songs. For a Good Time, Call… directed by Jamie Travis and starring Ari Graynor, Lauren Miller, Justin Long, Mark Webber and James Wolk premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival and opened in limited release last weekend.
