Heitor Pereira is reuniting with director Raja Gosnell on the upcoming hybrid live action/animated sequel The Smurfs 2. The family comedy stars Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays, Sofia Vergara and Hank Azaria who all reprise their characters from the original movie. Brendan Gleeson joins the cast as Patrick Winslow’s stepfather, Victor Doyle. The movie’s voice talent includes Katy Perry, Jonathan Winters, Alan Cumming, Fred Armisen, George Lopez, Anton Yelchin, John Oliver, Christina Ricci and JB Smoove. J. David Stem & David N. Weiss (Shrek 2), Karey Kirkpatrick (Over the Hedge) and Jay Scherick & David Ronn (Guess Who, Zookeeper) have written the screenplay based on the characters and works of Peyo and Jordan Kerner (Fried Green Tomatoes) is producing the project. MovieScore Media will release a soundtrack album for the fantasy adventure series Sinbad. The album features selections from the show’s original score composed by Christian Henson (The Devil’s Double, Severance). Sinbad starring Elliot Knight, Naveen Andrews, Sophie Okoendo and Timothy Spall follows the Middle-Eastern sailor who is thrown out of his hometown of Basra with a curse on him for having killed a man and, unable to spend more than 24 hours on land, embarks on an quest to rid himself of the curse. ‘Jurassic Park’ 20th Anniversary Soundtrack Released

Geffen Records has released a new soundtrack album for Steven Spielberg’s classic 1993 adventure hit film Jurassic Park. The album includes the content of the original soundtrack album featuring the movie’s original score composed and conducted by John Williams, as well as four previously unreleased tracks. The soundtrack is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips. No word yet on a physical release. The 20th Anniversary edition coincides with the film’s 3D release next month. Jurassic Park 3D based on the novel by Michael Crichton and starring Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Samuel L. ‘The Hole’ Soundtrack Released

La-La Land Records has announced the details of the soundtrack release for Joe Dante’s 3D horror fantasy The Hole. The album features the film’s original score written by Academy Award-nominated composer Javier Navarrete (Pan’s Labyrinth, Wrath of the Titans). The soundtrack is limited to 3000 copies and is now available to order on the label’s official website where you can also listen to audio clips. The Hole starring Chris Massoglia, Haley Bennett, Nathan Gamble and Teri Polo follows two brothers who stumble upon a mysterious hole in their basement and find that once the hole is exposed, evil is unleashed. Max Richter Scoring ‘Last Days on Mars’

Max Richter has been tapped to score the sci-fi thriller Last Days on Mars. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Ruairi Robinson who received an Academy Award nomination for his short Fifty Percent Grey and stars Liev Schreiber, Olivia Williams, Romola Garai, Elias Koteas, Tom Cullen, Goran Kostic and Johnny Harris. The movie centers on a group of astronauts on an exploratory mission to Mars who discover colonies of bacteria living deep within the permafrost. Clive Dawson has written the thriller’s screenplay based on a short story by Sydney J. Bounds. Michael Kuhn (The Duchess) is producing the project with Andrea Cornwell. Varese Sarabande has announced the release of a new symphonic work by Academy Award-nominated composer Patrick Doyle. The album entitled Patrick Doyle: Impressions of America features a symphonic piece scored for full orchestra and consisting of fifteen impressions. The symphony was inspired by the Scottish composer’s many trips to the US. The album will be released on April 16, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The release coincides with the composer’s 60th birthday next month. Doyle’s best known film scores include Sense and Sensibility, Brave, Harry Potter and The Goblet Of Fire, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Thor, Hamletand Henry V. The composer is currently working on the score for the action thriller Jack Ryan starring Chris Pine, Keira Knightley & Kevin Costner and directed by his long-time collaborator Kenneth Branagh. Mervyn Warren has started work on his score for the upcoming crime comedy Hot Guys with Guns. The film marks the directorial debut of Doug Spearman (Noah’s Arc) and stars Brian McArdle, Marc Anthony Samuel, Darryl Stephens, Kamar de los Reyes, Jay Huguley, Alan Blumenfeld, Joan Ryan and Trey McCurley. The movie revolves around an actor and his ex-boyfriend who find themselves sucked in a crime spree sending shockwaves through Hollywoood’s Velvet Mafia. Spearman has also written the screenplay and is producing the project with Kelly Jones and Suzan Jones. Apart from composing the score, Warren has also written, performed and arranged the original song Something to Shoot For, which will be playing over a Bond-esque, animated opening sequence. Mateo Messina is currently scoring the upcoming comedy The Angriest Man in Brooklyn. The film is directed by Phil Alden Robinson and stars Robin Williams, Mila Kunis, James Earl Jones, Peter Dinklage and Melissa Leo. The movie follows a stand-in doctor who mistakenly tells an obnoxious patient he has 90 minutes to live and then must locate him as the man goes on a whirlwind tour of the city. Daniel Taplitz (Breakin’ All the Rules) has written the screenplay and Bob Cooper (John Tucker Must Die, Mr. Woodcock), Tyler Mitchell (Lucky Number Slevin, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone) and Daniel J.
