Mateo Messina is currently scoring the upcoming comedy The Angriest Man in Brooklyn. The film is directed by Phil Alden Robinson and stars Robin Williams, Mila Kunis, James Earl Jones, Peter Dinklage and Melissa Leo. The movie follows a stand-in doctor who mistakenly tells an obnoxious patient he has 90 minutes to live and then must locate him as the man goes on a whirlwind tour of the city. Daniel Taplitz (Breakin’ All the Rules) has written the screenplay and Bob Cooper (John Tucker Must Die, Mr. Woodcock), Tyler Mitchell (Lucky Number Slevin, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone) and Daniel J. Milan Records will release the official soundtrack album for the drama At Any Price. The album features the film’s original score composed by Dickon Hinchliffe (Winter’s Bone, Last Chance Harvey). J Mascis has composed the score for the upcoming romantic drama Sunlight Jr.. The film is written and directed by Laurie Collyer (Sherrybaby) and stars Naomi Watts, Matt Dillon, Norman Reedus and Tess Harper. The movie follows a convenience store clerk and her paraplegic boyfriend who are trapped in a generational cycle of poverty and ignorance. Andera Roa (Drinking Buddies) is producing the project for Freight Yard Films, Charlie Corwin (The Squid and the Whale) is producing for Original Media and Ariel Elia is producing for Empyrean Pictures. Premiering tonight is the HBO original movie Phil Spector written and directed by David Mamet and starring Al Pacino the t he legendary music producer and Helen Mirren as his defense attorney Linda Kenney Baden. Jeffrey Tambor, James Tolkan and Martin Jarvis are co-starring. The film’s original score is composed by Marcelo Zarvos who has previously scored a number of HBO films, including You Don’t Know Jack for Barry Levinson who is executive producing Phil Spector. This week, Paul Englisby has recorded his score for the film adaptation of the stage musical Sunshine on Leith. The movie is directed by Dexter Fletcher (Wild Bill) and stars Peter Mullan, Jane Horrocks, George McKay, Kevin Guthrie, Antonia Thomas and Freya Mavor. Stephen Greenhorn has written screenplay based on his musical, which takes the lyrics of songs from the Scottish pop-folk band The Proclaimers and uses them in story about a young man and a woman who have to re-learn how to live life in Edinburgh after coming home from serving in Afghanistan. Andrew Macdonald (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later) & Allon Reich (Dredd, Never Let Me Go) are producing the project for DNA Films and Arabella Page Croft & Kieran Parker (Outpost, Legacy) are producing for Black Camel Pictures. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the animated feature The Croods directed by Chris Sanders & Kirk DeMicco and featuring the voice talent of Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds, Emma Stone, Catherine Keener, Clark Duke and Cloris Leachman. Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future Forrest Gump) has composed the film’s score. Relativity Music Group has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the original song Shine Your Way performed by Yuna feat. Owl City earlier this week. ‘To the Wonder’ Soundtrack Details

Lakeshore Records will release the official soundtrack album for Terrence Malick’s new drama To the Wonder. The album features the film’s original music composed by Hanan Townshend. Also included are two classical pieces used in the movie by Richard Wagner and J.S. Bach. The soundtrack will be released digitally on April 16, 2013 and physically on May 21. To the Wonder is written and directed by Malick (Tree of Life, The Thin Red Line) and stars Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams, Javier Bardem and Olga Kurylenko. Elliot Goldenthal to Be Inducted Into New York Foundation for the Arts Hall of Fame

The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) has announced that composer Elliot Goldenthal will be inducted into the NYFA Hall of Fame on Tuesday, April 23 at Espace (635 West 42nd Street). Goldenthal’s best known work for film includes his score for Julie Taymor’s Frida, for which he won his first Academy Award and was nominated for the original song Burn It Blue. He also received two more Oscar nominations for Interview With the Vampire and Michael Collins. His other work includes the original two-act opera Grendel, the three-act ballet of Othello and the large-scale symphonic piece Fire Water Paper: A Vietnam Oratorio. He is currently composing the original music for a production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream to be directed by Taymor for Theatre for a New Audience this fall. The NYFA Hall of Fame was created to both honor the work of artists to whom NYFA provided critical support early in their careers and recognize philanthropists and patrons of the arts who have had an impact of the City’s cultural community. The other honorees to be inducted on April 23 include author and co-director of the Acquavella Gallery Michael Findlay, filmmaker Mira Nair and visual artist Fred Wilson. Henry Jackman is scoring the upcoming Dreamworks Animation feature Turbo. The movie is directed by David Soren (Merry Madagascar) and follows an underdog snail who kicks into overdrive when he miraculously attains the power of super-speed. The film’s voice talent includes Ryan Reynolds, Paul Giamatti, Michael Pena, Luis Guzmán, Bill Hader, Richard Jenkins, Ken Jeong, Michelle Rodriguez, Maya Rudolph, Ben Schwartz, Kurtwood Smith, Snoop Dogg and Samuel L. Jackson. Lisa Stewart (Monsters vs Aliens) is producing the project. Jackman has previously scored Dreamworks Animation’s features Puss in Boots and Monsters vs Aliens. ‘The Music That Makes You Scream’ Panel at Wondercon

Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) and White Bear PR have announced a film music panel at this year’s Wondercon. The Music That Makes You Scream features a panel discussion on the art of composing for the horror genre, which will be followed by a Q&A session. Participating composers include Tyler Bates (Dawn of the Dead, Rob Zombie’s Halloween), Anton Sanko (The Possession, the upcoming Nurse 3-D and Ghosts), Frederik Wiedmann (Hostel: Part III, Green Lantern: The Animated Series) and Dino Meneghin (Teen Wolf). BMI Director, Film/TV Relations Anne Cecere and White Bear PR Founder Chandler Poling will be moderating the event, which will take place at Anaheim Convention Center on Saturday, March 30, 2013 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Room 208.
