Michael Wandmacher is scoring the upcoming horror sequel The Last Exorcism Part II. The film is directed by Ed Gass-Donnelly (Small Town Murder Song) and stars Ashley Bell who is found alone and terrified in the woods after the events from the previous movie. Gass-Donnelly has also co-written the screenplay with Damien Chazelle. Eli Roth (Hostel, Cabin Fever) returns to produce the sequel alongside Eli Roth alongside Marc Abraham, Thomas A. Bliss & Eric Newman (Children of Men, Dawn of the Dead) for Strike Entertainment. Edward Sharpe’s Alex Ebert to Score J.C. Chandor’s ‘All is Lost’

Alex Ebert has been hired to score the upcoming adventure drama All is Lost. The film is written and directed by J.C. Chandor and stars Robert Redford as a man who gets lost at sea and struggles against the elements to stay alive. Neal Dodson & Anna Gerb (Margin Call), Justin Nappi (Arbitrage) and Teddy Schwarzman (At Any Price) are producing the Before The Door Pictures and Washington Square Films production. The movie marks Chandor’s second film following last year’s critically acclaimed Margin Call, which featured a score by Nathan Larson. Ebert is best known as the lead singer and songwriter for L.A. indie rock band Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. The project marks his film scoring debut. All is Lost is currently in post-production and is expected to be released next year by Lionsgate. (Variety)
Henry Jackman Scoring Paul Greengrass’ ‘Captain Phillips’

Henry Jackman has been tapped to score the upcoming drama Captain Phillips. The film is directed by Paul Greengrass and stars Tom Hanks as the skipper of the cargo ship Maersk Alabama who alloweed himself to be taken hostage by Somali pirates in 2009 in order to guarantee the safety of his crew. Catherine Keener and Max Martini are co-starring. The movie is based on the memoir A Captain’s Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALs, and Dangerous Days at Sea by Captain Richard Phillips and was adapted for the screen by Billy Ray (Breach, Flightplan). Scott Rudin (No Country for Old Men), Michael De Luca & Dana Brunetti (The Social Network, 21) and Kevin Spacey are producing the project. ‘Any Day Now’ Soundtrack Details

Lakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack album for the indie drama Any Day Now. The album features the songs featured in the film performed by artists including France Joli, Betty Padgett, The Honey Cone, Teddy Rabb, Marty Balin, Thelma Houston, Rufus Wainwright and actor Alan Cumming. Also included are two tracks from the score composed by Joey Newman (The Middle). The soundtrack will be released on December 11, 2012. Check back on this site for audio clips. Any Day Now is directed by Travis Fine and stars Alan Cumming, Garret Dillahunt, Isaac Leyva, Frances Fisher and Chris Mulkey. The movie follows a gay couple who takes in a teenager with Down syndrome. Mychael Danna is reuniting with director Atom Egoyan to score the upcoming drama The Devil’s Knot. The movie is based on Mara Leveritt’s bestselling book West Memphis Three and stars Colin Firth, Reese Witherspoon, Dane DeHaan, Amy Ryan, Mireille Enos, Kevin Durand, Bruce Greenwood, Alessandro Nivola, Stephen Moyer, Collette Wolfe, Kris Polaha and Kristopher Higgins. The movie tells the true story of three teens who were wrongly convicted of murdering three boys in 1993. Scott Derrickson & Paul Harris Boardman (The Exorcism of Emily Rose) have written the screenplay and Boardman is also producing the Worldview Entertainment production with Elizabeth Fowler, Clark Peterson (Monster, Rampart), Richard Saperstein and Christopher Woodrow (James Gray’s upcoming Nightingale). ‘A Very Eureka Christmas’ Soundtrack Announced

Back Lot Music will release a new soundtrack album for the Syfy original series Eureka. A Very Eureka Christmas features the score for the two Christmas episodes O Little Town from 2010 and Do You See What I See from 2011 composed by Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica, The Walking Dead). The soundtrack will be released on November 20, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on iTunes, where you can also check out audio clips. La-La Land Records has previously released a soundtrack album featuring highlights from the composer’s score for the series (click here to order the release). Eureka created by Jaime Paglia, Bruce Miller and Todd Sharp and starring Colin Ferguson, Salli Richardson-Whitfield, Joe Morton, Erica Cerra, Neil Grayston and Niall Matter aired on Syfy from 2006 until July 2012. Big Machine Records will release a soundtrack album for the ABC drama Nashville. The album features the songs from the show performed by cast members Connie Britton, Hayden Panettiere, Charles Esten, Jonathan Jackson, Clare Bowen and Sam Palladio, including the hit single Telescope performed by Panettiere. Daniel Licht to Score NBC’s ‘Deception’

Daniel Licht has been hired to score the upcoming NBC drama Deception. The show is created by Liz Heldens (Mercy, Friday Night Lights) and stars Meagan Good, Victor Garber, Katherine LaNasa, Tate Donovan, Marin Hinkle, Laz Alonso, Ella Rae Peck and Wes Brown. The series, which was previously entitled Infamous, follows a female detective who returns undercover to the wealthy and troubled family she grew up in to solve the murder of a notorious heiress who was once her closest friend. Heldens is executive producing the drama with Gail Berman (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel), Lloyd Braun (Alphas), Gene Stein (Less Than Perfect) and Peter Horton (Grey’s Anatomy). Universal Music Group will release the soundtrack album for Quentin Tarantino’s highly anticipated film Django Unchained. The album will be released on December 18, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. No word yet on the tracks featured on the release, but check back on this site for the details to be revealed within the next few weeks. Mary Ramos who has worked on all of Tarantino’s features serves as the movie’s music supervisor. Django Unchained stars Jamie Foxx as a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter, played by Christoph Waltz. Unused ‘Chinatown’ Score Released

Perseverance Records has announced a release of the unused score for Roman Polanski’s 1974 classic movie Chinatown starring Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway. The music is composed by Phillip Lambro. The music was ultimately rejected by Paramount Pictures and replaced by a score by Jerry Goldsmith who ended up receiving one of the film’s eleven Academy Award nominations. In addition to the unused score, the album also features the two concert pieces Structures for String Orchestra and Music for Wind, Brass and Percussion.
