14th Street Music has released a soundtrack album for the documentary Girl Rising. The album features the film’s original music composed by Lorne Balfe (Megamind, The Bible) and Rachel Portman (The Cider House Rules, Chocolat). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. Girl Rising is directed by Richard Robbins (Operation Homecoming: Writing the Wartime Experience) and tells the stories of several girls from around the globe who fought for their chance to go to school in spite of extreme poverty and natural disasters. Back Lot Music has announced the full soundtrack details for the upcoming sci-fi action film Oblivion. The album features the film’s score composed by Anthony Gonzalez of M83 and Joseph Trapanese (TRON: Uprising, The Raid: Redemption). Also included is an original song by M83 featuring Norwegian singer-songwriter Susanne Sundfor used as the end title for the film. The soundtrack is scheduled to be release on April 9, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out our previous article for a preview of the music. Alex Heffes to Score ‘Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom’

Alex Heffes has been hired to score the upcoming biographical drama Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. The film is directed by Justin Chadwick (The Other Boleyn Girl) and stars Idris Elba in the title role as the South African civil rights leader and Naomie Harris as Nelson Mandela’s wife, Winnie. Tony Kgoroge, Riaad Moosa, Zolani Mkiva, Jamie Bartlett, Lindiwe Matshikiza, Deon Lotz and Terry Pheto are co-starring. William Nicholson (Gladiator, Les Miserables) has written the screenplay based on Mandela’s autobiography. The movie is produced by Anant Singh (Pulse) who started communicating with Mandela about making a film based on his life while he was still in prison and acquired the film rights to Mandela’s book at the time of its publication in 1996. Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the crime thriller Dead Man Down. The album features the film’s original score composed by Jacob Groth who has previously collaborated with director Niels Arden Oplev on the original The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo movie. The soundtrack will be released on April 2, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips will be added to this article soon. Dead Man Down stars Colin Farrell as a professional killer and the right-hand man to an underground crime lord in New York City who is seduced and blackmailed by a crime victim seeking retribution. Thomas Wander and Harald Kloser are currently composing the score for the upcoming action thriller White House Down. The film is directed by Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, Stargate) and stars Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx, Maggie Gyllenhaal, James Woods, Richard Jenkins, Joey King and Rachelle Lefevre. The movie follows a Secret Service agent who is tasked with rescuing the president from a paramilitary group that has taken over the White House. Pathé Production will release a soundtrack album for the French drama Jappeloup. The album features the film’s original score composed by Clinton Shorter (District 9, Contraband), as well as the songs featured in the film by artists including Cat Stevens, Roxy Music, Thin Lizzy, George Michael and 10cc. Michael Giacchino is set to reunite with Lana and Andy Wachowski on their upcoming sci-fi action tentpole Jupiter Ascending. The film stars Channing Tatum, Mila Kunis, Eddie Redmayne, Douglas Booth, Tuppence Middleton and Sean Bean. The movie is set in a time where humans are at the bottom of the evolutionary ladder and are watched by higher forms of life and follows a woman who has been targeted for assassination by the Queen of the Universe. The Wachowskis are writing, producing and directing the Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures production, which is set to shoot this spring. Metropolis Movie Music has released a soundtrack album for the action thriller Vehicle 19. The album features the film’s original music composed by James Matthes and Daniel Matthee (Retribution). The soundtrack is now available digitally in the UK. Audio clips are available here. No domestic release date has been announced yet. Vehicle 19 is directed by Mukunda Michael Dewil and stars Paul Walker as recent parolee who picks up the wrong rental vehicle after a long flight and soon discovers a tied-up female passenger in the trunk. Naima McLean, Gys de Villiers, Leyla Haidarian and Tshepo Maseko are co-starring.
