The full details of the soundtrack album for the Netflix original film Shirley have been revealed. The album features the movie’s original score composed by Tamar-kali (Mudbound, The Assistant, The Lie, Little Richard: I Am Everything, Palmer, Mixtape, Come Sunday). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, March 15 by Netflix Music (visit Amazon or any other major digital music services to stream/download). A first track (A Hospital Visit) has already been released as last Friday and can be checked out after the jump. Available separately as a digital single is the original song Why I’m Here by Samara Joy. Shirley is written and directed by John Ridley and stars Regina King, Lance Reddick, Terrence Howard, André Holland, Lucas Hedges, Christina Jackson, Michael Cherrie and Brian Stokes Mitchell. The biographical drama tells the story of Shirley Chisholm who made a trailblazing run for the 1972 Democratic presidential nomination after becoming the first Black woman elected to Congress.

Mark Isham to Reteam with John Ridley on ‘Needle in a Timestack’
Composer Mark Isham (Crash, Once Upon a Time, A River Runs Through It, The Accountant) is reteaming with John Ridley on the upcoming time travel drama Needle in a Timestack. The film is written and directed by Ridley (12 Years a Slave, Guerrilla) and stars Orlando Bloom, Freida Pinto, Leslie Odom Jr., and Cynthia Erivo. The movie is based on a short story by Robert Silverberg and follows a couple struggling to hold their marriage together in a world where time travel is possible, and the past and present are ever fluctuating. Zanne Devine (Easy A), David Thwaites (What to Expect When You’re Expecting, Miss Potter), Aaron L. Gilbert (Tully, A Single Shot) and Matt Kennedy are producing the BRON Studios production.
Soundtrack for Showtime’s ‘Guerrilla’ to Be Released
Silva Screen Records will release a soundtrack album for the Showtime mini-series Guerrilla. The album features the original score from the show composed by Max Richter (The Leftovers, Taboo, Waltz with Bashir, Disconnect, Miss Sloane). Also included are the songs from the drama by Noir, Femi Kuti, Osibisa, Judy Mowatt, Curtis Mayfield, The Pioneers & more. The soundtrack will be released on May 12, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Guerrilla is created John Ridley (12 Years a Slave) and stars Idris Elba, Frieda Pinto and Babou Ceesay. Mark Isham is scoring the upcoming documentary Let It Fall: Los Angeles 1982-1992. The film is written and directed by John Ridley (12 Years a Slave, Shame) and explores the city-wide violence that began April 29, 1992, when the verdict was announced in the Rodney King case. The movie delves beyond the conflict between law enforcement and the black community to look at tensions across the city as a whole. Ridley is also producing the project. Isham has previously collaborated with Ridley on the TV series American Crime, which currently airs in its third season Sunday nights on ABC.

The drama tells the story of a politically active couple whose relationship and values are tested when they liberate a political prisoner and form a radical underground cell in 1970s London. Ridley who is also directing the first two and final episodes and Elba are also executive producing the Fifty Fathoms and ABC Signature production with Michael J. McDonald (American Crime), Patrick Spence (Fortitude), Katie Swinden and Tracy Underwood.

Mark Isham is composing the score for the upcoming ABC drama American Crime. The show is created by John Ridley (12 Years a Slave, Jimi: All Is By My Side) and stars Felicity Huffman, Timothy Hutton, W. Earl Brown, Richard Cabral, Caitlin Gerard, Benito Martinez, Penelope Ann Miller, Elvis Nolasco and Johnny Ortiz. The series centers around the brutal attack on a young couple in Modesto, California, their parents and the four suspects who are about to be arrested. Ridley has also directed the pilot and is executive producing the ABC Studios production with Michael J. McDonald.
