The album features the songs from the film by artists including The Roots, Chubb Rock, Kool Kojak, Speedometer, Digital Underground, PC’s Ltd. and more. Also included is a suite from the film’s score composed by Christopher Lennertz (Horrible Bosses, Revolution, Identity Thief). The soundtrack is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips. Battle of the Year is directed by Benson Lee and stars Josh Holloway, Laz Alonso, Josh Peck, Caity Lotz and Chris Brown. The movie centers on an all-star American b-boy crew that is training to compete in France at the Battle of the Year (BOTY) International Championships. laurent-eyquemLaurent Eyquem is set to score the upcoming action thriller Momentum. The film marks the directorial debut of Stephen Campanelli who has been Clint Eastwood’s camera operator since The Bridges of Madison County and stars Olga Kurylenko, Vincent Cassel and Shea Whigham. The movie follows a thief who is trying to avoid both the law and a deadly gang of assassins. Adam Marcus & Debra Sullivan (Texas Chainsaw 3D) have written the screenplay. Anton Ernst who has previously collaborated with Eyquem on last year’s South African Oscar submission Little One is producing the film for Thaba Media and Azari Media. the-white-dawnIntrada Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for the 1974 adventure drama The White Dawn directed by Philip Kaufman (The Right Stuff, Henry & June, Rising Sun) and starring Warren Oates, Timothy Bottoms and Lou Gossett, alongside the Eskimo People of the Canadian Arctic. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Academy Award-winning composer Henry Mancini (Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Pink Panther). geoff-zanelliGeoff Zanelli is scoring the upcoming Hallmark Hall of Fame original movie Christmas in Conway. The film is directed by John Kent Harrison and stars Mary-Louise Parker, Andy Garcia and Mandy Moore. The movie follows a man who builds a Ferris wheel in the backyard of his house as the perfect Christmas present for his wife, as he proposed to her many years ago. Stephen P. Lindsey (Hachi: A Dog’s Tale) and Luis Ugaz have written the script. Brent Shields (Remember Sunday, The Makeover) and Howard Koch Jr. (Source Code, Gorky Park) are executive producing the project. stephen-sondheimWalt Disney Pictures has announced today that composer Stephen Sondheim is composing a new original song for the upcoming film adaptation of the musical Into the Woods. The film is directed by Rob Marshall (Chicago, Memoirs of a Geisha, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) and stars Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, James Corden, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Johnny Depp, Lilla Crawford, Daniel Huttlestone, Tracey Ullman, Christine Baranski, MacKenzie Mauzy, Billy Magnussen, Tammy Blanchard and Lucy Punch. The movie based on the Tony-winning original musical by James Lapine and Sondheim is a modern twist on the Brothers Grimm fairy tales, intertwining the plots of a few choice stories and exploring the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. The Creative Arts Emmy Awards were handed out this afternoon at the NOKIA Theatre LA LIVE in Downtown Los Angeles. John Lunn has received his second Emmy for his music for Downtown Abbey in the Outstandig Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score) category after last year’s win. Mychael Danna won his first Emmy Award for the mini-series World Without End in the Outstandig Music Composition for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special (Original Dramatic Score) category. Bear McCreary received his first Emmy Award for his main titles theme for Da Vinci’s Demons. In the Original Music and Lyrics category, Adam Schlesinger (music) and David Javerbaum (lyrics) were honored with an Emmy for the song If I Had Time written for the 66th Annual Tony Awards ceremony. sleepy-hollowPremiering tomorrow, September 16, on Fox is the new mystery adventure drama Sleepy Hollow created by Alex Kurtzman & Bob Orci (Star TrekTransformers), Len Wiseman (UnderworldLive Free or Die Hard) & Phillip Iscove and starring Tom Mison, Nicole Beharie, Orlando Jones, John Cho and Katia Winter. Brian Tyler (Iron Man 3, Fast Five, Now You See Me) is composing the score for the series, which is based on The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow and follows Ichabod Crane as he partners with Sleepy Hollow’s Detective Abbie Archer to solve the mysteries of a town ravaged by the battle between good and evil. Edward Shearmur has been hired to score the upcoming mystery thriller Before I Go to Sleep. The film is written and directed by Rowan Joffe (Brighton Rock, screenwriter of The American and 28 Weeks Later) and stars Nicole Kidman, Colin Firth, Mark Strong and Anne-Marie Duff. The movie is based on the best-selling novel by S.J. Watson of the same title and follows a woman with amnesia who wakes every day with no knowledge of who she is as a result a traumatic accident in her past and must reconstruct her memories from a journal she keeps. Ridley Scott & Liza Marshall (Life in a Day) and Mark Gill (Law Abiding Citzen, Olympus Has Fallen) are producing the Scott Free and Millennium Films production. Two new movies are opening wide this weekend:

insidious-chapter-2Expected to top the box office is the horror sequel Insidious: Chapter 2 directed by James Wan and starring Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye, Ty Simpkins, Leigh Wannell and Barbara Hershey. The film’s original score is composed by Joseph Bishara (The Conjuring, Dark Skies). Void Recordings has released a soundtrack featuring the composer’s music digitally earlier this week. The film’s original music is composed by Evgueni Galperine and Sacha Galperine. EuropaCorp has released a soundtrack album featuring the score, as well as the songs from the film, including New York, I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down by LCD Soundsystem, Me and My Baby by Don Cavalli and Doce Doce by Fred Bongusto. minionsHeitor Pereira is set to score Universal Pictures’ & Illumination Entertainment’s upcoming animated feature Minions. The film is a spin-off of the hit animated franchise Despicable Me and has been described as an origin story, which establishes that Minions have existed since the beginning of time, in service of history’s most ambitiously evil villains. Sandra Bullock will voice Scarlet Overkill, a stylish super-villain who is bent on world domination and Jon Hamm will lend his voice to her husband, the inventor Herb Overkill. Pierre Coffin who directed both Despicable Me and its sequel is directing the project with Kyle Balda (The Lorax) and Brian Lynch (Puss in BootsHop) has written the screenplay.
