toy-story-of-terrorWalt Disney Records will release a soundtrack album for the ABC Halloween special Toy Story of Terror. The album features the animated short’s original score composed by Michael Giacchino who has previously scored Pixar’s The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Up and Cars 2, as well as numerous shorts. The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 15, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Toy Story of Terror is directed by Angus MacLane and features the voices of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Don Rickles, Wallace Shawn, Timothy Dalton, Kristen Schaal and Carl Weathers. The short follows the Toy Story gang on a trip to a roadside motel. The Halloween special is set to premiere on October 16 on ABC. Read the rest of this entry »

breathlessAnne Dudley is composing the score for the upcoming medical drama Breathless. The series is co-created and written by Paul Unwin (Shameless) and stars Jack Davenport, Iain Glen, Zoe Boyle and Natasha Little. The show is set in 1960s London and follow a group of doctors and nurses working in a hospital at a time when abortion was still illegal, the contraceptive pill only available to married women and moral codes were shifting. Unwin has also directed the first two episodes of the six-part drama and is executive producing the Masterpiece and ITV Studios production with Rebecca Eaton (Downton Abbey, Sherlock) and Kate Bartlett. ‘Grimm’ Soundtrack Details

La-La Land Records will release a soundtrack album for the NBC fantasy drama Grimm. The album features selections of the original score from the first two seasons composed by Richard Marvin (U-571, Surrogates, Six Feet Under). The soundtrack will be released on October 22, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Grimm is created by David Greenwalt & Jim Kouf and stars David Giuntoli, Russell Hornsby, Bitsie Tulloch and Silas Weir Mitchell. The second season of the series about a homicide detective who discovers he’s a descendant of hunters who fight supernatural forces was released last month on Blu-ray and DVD. fernando-velazquezFernando Velazquez is set to score Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming gothic horror thriller Crimson Peak. The film stars Charlie Hunnam, Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska and Tom Hiddleston. No plot details have been revealed yet. Del Toro (Pacific RimPan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy) and Lucinda Coxon (Wild TargetThe Heart of Me) are co-writing the screenplay based on an original script written by del Toro and Matthew Robbins (Mimic, The Sugarland Express, Batteries Not Included). Legendary Pictures is producing and financing the project and Universal Pictures will have the option to come on board as a finance partner at a later date. Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album for the horror movie Curse of Chucky. The album features the film’s original score composed by Joseph LoDuca (Army of Darkness, Xena: Warrior Princess, Spartacus). The soundtrack is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips. Curse of Chucky is written and directed by franchise creator Don Mancini and stars Brad Dourif as Chucky’s voice, alongside Fiona Dourif, Danielle Bisutti, Maitland McConnell and Chantal Quesnelle. The movie finds a finds a new family imperiled by the murderous doll that launched a generation’s nightmares. alan-menkenVariety is reporting that Alan Menken will be writing the music and executive producing the ABC comedy musical pilot Galavant. The show is created by Dan Fogelman (Crazy, Stupid, LoveBolt, Tangled) and centers on handsome Prince Galavant and his quest for revenge over the king who stole his one true love. Fogelman is also executive producing the ABC Studios production with Menken and Glenn Slater who is expected to write the lyrics for the show’s original songs. Menken and Slater have previously collaborated with Fogelman for a musical episode of the ABC comedy The Neighbors, for which the duo was recently nominated for an Emmy Award. ‘Parenthood’ Volume 2 Soundtrack Announced

The album includes songs featured in the show by artists including Delta Rae, Lyle Lovett, CeeLo Green, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Glen Hansard, A Fine Frenzy, Emile Millar and more. The film is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and stars Liam Neeson, Joel Kinnaman, Ed Harris, Common and Natalie Martinez. The movie follows an aging hitman who is forced to take on his brutal former boss to protect his estranged son and his family. Brad Inglesby (Out of the Furnace) has written the screenplay and Roy Lee (The StrangersThe Lake House, Oldboy) is producing the  Vertigo Entertainment and with Brooklyn Weaver. Intrada Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for Walt Disney Pictures’ 1993 Halloween comedy Hocus Pocus directed by Kenny Ortega and starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy. The album features the film’s complete score composed and conducted by John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Iron Man 2, Elf). The score also features the Garden Of Magic theme composed by James Horner, which Debney adapted in portions of his own original score. Also included on the soundtrack are a number of alternates, including a never-before-heard alternate end credits piece. vampire-academyRolfe Kent has signed on to score the upcoming fantasy adventure Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters. The film based on the best-selling young adult novel series by Richelle Mead is directed by Mark Waters (The Spiderwick Chronicles) and stars Zoey Deutch and Lucy Fry as the lead characters Rose and Lissa. Danila Kozlovski, Olga Kurylenko, Sarah Hyland, Gabriel Byrne and Joely Richardson are co-starring. The movie follows a teen who has a mental and spiritual bond with her vampire best friend and attends a special school for vampires who are attempting to keep some of their humanity while other of their species are becoming more wild.
