Thomas Newman is composing the theme for the upcoming Showtime original documentary series Years of Living Dangerously. Richard Marvin is providing the score for the show, which will explore the effects of climate change in different parts of the world. The environmental docu-series will feature appearances by Matt Damon, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Harrison Ford, Jessica Alba, Don Cheadle, America Ferrera, Michael C. Hall, Olivia Munn, Chris Hayes, Dr. M. Sanjayan and Ian Somerhalder. ‘Cuban Fury’ Soundtrack Details

Decca Records will release a soundtrack album for the British romantic comedy Cuban Fury. The album features the Latin jazz and salsa music from the film by artists including Tito Puente, Sunlightsquare, Marc Anthony, Oscar D’Leon and more. Also included are two tracks from the movie’s original score composed by Daniel Pemberton (The Counselor, The Awakening). The soundtrack will be released in the UK on February 17, 2014. Cuban Fury is directed by James Griffiths and stars Nick Frost, Chris O’Dowd, Olivia Colman, Rashida Jones, Ian McShane, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Rory Kinnear, and Alexandra Roach. Mac Quayle Scoring ‘Frank & Cindy’

Mac Quayle is composing the score for the upcoming indie comedy Frank & Cindy. The film is directed by G.J. Echternkamp and stars Oliver Platt, Rene Russo, Jane Levy, Marc Maron and Johnny Simmons. The movie is based on Echternkamp’s 2007 documentary of the same title and tells the true story of Frank Garcia, bassist of early 1980s one-hit wonder band OXO, and his wife Cindy Brown. The director has also written the screenplay with Alex Holdridge (In Search of a Midnight Kiss). Actor Scoot McNairy (Argo, Killing Them Softly) is producing the project with John Pierce (Straight A’s), Bill Perkins (Unthinkable, After.Life) and Bic Tran. Sumthing Else Music Works has announced a soundtrack album for the sci-fi action series Metal Hurlant Chronicles. The album features selections from the score of the first season of the show composed by Jesper Kyd (Assassin’s Creed, Hitman, Borderlands). The soundtrack will be released digitally on February 25, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. Metal Hurlant Chronicles is a live-action adaptation of stories from the popular comics anthology Métal Hurlant, the magazine that gave birth in the United States to Heavy Metal. John Cacavas (1930 – 2014)

John Cacavas has passed away at age 83. The composer has scored numerous TV shows/movies and feature films throughout his career, including episodes of such classic shows as Colombo, Kojak, Hawaii Five-O, Murder, She Wrote, The Bionic Woman, Matlock, Quincy and The Equalizer. He was honored with two Emmy nominations for an episode of Kojak in 1976, as well as an episode of Eischied in 1979. His best known feature credits include two films in the Airport series: Airport 1975 starring Charlton Heston and Airport ’77 starring Jack Lemmon & James Stewart, as well as the 1972 horror film Horror Express starring Christopher Lee & Peter Cushing. Cacavas was also active as a guest conductor and has appeared with the London Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Orchestra of London, The Atlanta Symphony and Radio City Music Hall Orchestra among other orchestras. Warner Bros. Records will release a soundtrack album for the romantic drama Endless Love. The album features the songs from the film, including the original track Don’t Find Another Love performed by Tegan and Sara. Other artists featured on the soundtrack include NONONO, The Bird and The Bee featuring Matt Berninger, Echosmith, Franz Ferdinand and Tanlines. Walt Disney Records will release the official soundtrack album for the family movie sequel Muppets Most Wanted. The album features the film’s original songs written by Bret McKenzie performed by the movie’s cast, as well as a number of demos. Also included is a suite from the film’s original score composed by Christophe Beck (Frozen, The Hangover) who previously scored 2011’s original movie. The soundtrack will be released on March 18, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Muppets Most Wanted is directed by James Bobin and stars the Muppets characters including Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, The Great Gonzo, as well as Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell and Tina Fey. Steven Price to Score NBC’s ‘Believe’

Steven Price has confirmed in a recent interview with Classic FM that is composing the music for the upcoming NBC drama Believe. The show is created by Alfonso Cuarón & Mark Friedman and stars Jake McLaughlin, Johnny Sequoyah, Jamie Chung, Arian Moayed, Kyle MacLachlan and Delroy Lindo. The series follows a young girl with an extraordinary ability and a man sprung from prison who has been tasked with protecting her from the evil elements that hunt her power. Cuaron is also executive producing the Bonanza, Bad Robot and Warner Bros. Television production with J.J. Abrams & Bryan Burk (Lost, Star Trek), Jonas Pate and Hans Tobeason. Cuaron has also directed the pilot episode.
