The album features the film’s original songs written by Bret McKenzie performed by the movie’s cast, as well as a number of demos. Also included is a suite from the film’s original score composed by Christophe Beck (FrozenThe Hangover) who previously scored 2011’s original movie. The film is directed by Trish Sie and stars Alyson Stoner, Briana Evigan, Ryan Guzman, Izabella Miko, Adam G. Sevani, Stephen Boss, Chadd Smith and Misha Gabriel Hamilton. In the sequel, all-stars from the previous installments of the series come together in Las Vegas, battling for a victory that could define their dreams and their careers. John Swetnam (Evidence, Into the Storm) has written the screenplay and Adam Shankman & Jennifer Gibgot (Hairspray, Rock of Ages, 17 Again) are producing the project through their Offspring Entertainment company. maleficentWalt Disney Records has released the a new cover version of the song Once Upon a Dream from Disney’s upcoming fantasy adventure Maleficent. The song is performed by Lana Del Rey and is featured in the film’s latest trailer, which can be checked out after the jump. Visit Amazon to download the single. believe Steven Price has confirmed in a recent interview with Classic FM that is composing the music for the upcoming NBC drama Believe. The show is created by Alfonso Cuarón & Mark Friedman and stars Jake McLaughlin, Johnny Sequoyah, Jamie Chung, Arian Moayed, Kyle MacLachlan and Delroy Lindo. The series follows a young girl with an extraordinary ability and a man sprung from prison who has been tasked with protecting her from the evil elements that hunt her power. Cuaron is also executive producing the Bonanza, Bad Robot and Warner Bros. Television production with J.J. Abrams & Bryan Burk (Lost, Star Trek), Jonas Pate and Hans Tobeason. Cuaron has also directed the pilot episode. Price has previously collaborated with the director on last year’s hit sci-fi thriller Gravity and has recently been Academy Award-nominated for his work on the film. Read the rest of this entry »

legend-of-herculesLionsgate Records has released a soundtrack album for the action adventure The Legend of Hercules. The album features the film’s original music composed by Tuomas Kantelinen (Mongol: The Rise of Genghis-Khan) who previously collaborated with director Renny Harlin on the 2004 feature Mindhunters. The soundtrack is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips. The Legend of Hercules starring Kellan Lutz, Liam McIntyre, Gaia Weiss, Scott Adkins, Roxanne McKee and Liam Garrigan tells the love story between the son of Zeus and the mortal princess of Crete, who was promised to his own brother despite her love for Hercules. the-purge-2Nathan Whitehead is reteaming with director James DeMonaco on the upcoming thriller sequel The Purge 2. The film stars Frank Grillo, Michael K. Williams, Zach Gilford, Carmen Ejogo and Kiele Sanchez. No plot details have been revealed yet, but the movie is reportedly taking place in a similar setting to the original, where, once a year, there’s a 12-hour period when all crime is allowed and condoned. DeMonaco is also writing the screenplay and Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Sinister, Insidious) is once again producing the Blumhouse production with Sebastien Lemercier and Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes company. after-the-darkVarese Sarabande has announced a soundtrack album for the sci-fi thriller After the Dark (aka The Philosophers). The album features the film’s original score composed by Nicholas O’Toole and Korn frontman Jonathan Davis (Queen of the Damned). Also included is additional music by Glen Phillips of Toad The Wet Sprocket. The soundtrack will be released digitally on February 11 and physically on March 4, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. After the Dark is written and directed by John Huddle and stars James D’Arcy, Sophie Lowe, Daryl Sabara and Bonnie Wright. The movie follows an international philosophy teacher in Jakarta who challenges his class to choose which would take shelter underground and reboot the human race in the event of a nuclear apocalypse. Thomas Newman Wins Grammy Award for ‘Skyfall’

grammysThomas Newman has won the Grammy Award for his music for the latest James Bond film Skyfall in the Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media category. The other nominated composers in the category included Alexandre Desplat (Argo, Zero Dark Thirty), Craig Armstrong (The Great Gatsby), Mychael Danna (Life of Pi) and John Williams (Lincoln). Newman has previously received six Grammys for such projects as American Beauty, Wall-E and Six Feet Under. Check out the composer’s speech for the Thank You cam backstage at the awards ceremony after the jump. In the Best Song Written For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media, Paul Epworth and Adele Adkins won the award for the Skyfall title song. In the Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for Visual Media category, the soundtrack album for the documentary Sound City: Real to Reel released by RCA Records/Roswell Records was honored with a Grammy award. flemingPremiering on Wednesday, January 29, on BBC America is the biographical mini-series Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond directed by Mat Whitecross and starring Dominic Cooper in the title role as Ian Fleming, as well as Laura Pulver, Lesley Manville, Rupert Evans, Anna Chancellor, Samuel West, Annabelle Wallis and Camilla Rutherford. Ilan Eshkeri (Stardust, 47 Ronin, The Young Victoria) and Tim Wheeler who previously scored Whitecross’ Ashes and Spike Island have composed the series’ original score. No word on a soundtrack album.
