The soundtrack will be released on June 3, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The movie is set in the near future when an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault and follows an officer who finds himself reliving his last day over and over after being killed. inside-outMichael Giacchino confirmed during the pre-concert conversation at the world premiere live-to-projection concert of Star Trek Into Darkness at the KKL Concert Hall in Lucerne, Switzerland this weekend that he will be scoring Pixar’s upcoming animated feature Inside Out. The film is directed by Pete Doctor and features the voice talent of Amy Poehler, Lewis Black, Bill Hader, Mindy Kaling and Phyllis Smith. The movie will be told from the perspective of the emotions inside the mind of an especially imaginative young girl. Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3, Little Miss Sunshine) has written the screenplay. Jonas Rivera (Up) is producing the project. Giacchino has previously collaborated with Docter on the 2009 film Up, for which he received his first Academy Award. Read the rest of this entry »

james-hornerDirector Gabriele Muccino has announced that James Horner will be scoring the upcoming drama Fathers and Daughters. The film stars Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, Aaron Paul, Quvenzhane Wallis, Diane Kruger, Jane Fonda, Octavia Spencer, Bruce Greenwood and Janet McTeer. The movie tells the story of a woman dealing with a crumbling relationship in the present and looking back on the relationship she had with her father, a Pulitzer Prize-winning writer, 25 years earlier. Brad Desch has written the Black List-honored screenplay. Craig J. Flores & Nicolas Chartier (The Hurt Locker, The Company You Keep) are producing the Voltage Pictures production with Sherryl Clark for Busted Shark Productions. Crowe serves as an executive producer. The movie follows a young woman who is mistaken for her dead “perfect” identical twin and seizes the chance to masquerade as her sister. The comedy premiered at last year’s Tribeca Film Festival and was released in select theaters earlier this year. The film’s music is composed by John Ottman (X2The Usual SuspectsThe Fantastic Four) who also serves as the film’s editor. The movie is set in the 1980s and tells the true story of a high school coach who comes to the predominantly Latino town of McFarland, Calif. and creates a high school track team that becomes a championship-winning dynasty. The World Wars executive produced by Stephen David and directed by John Ealer tells the story of three devastating decades of war between 1914 and 1945 told through the eyes of the powerful leaders including Roosevelt, Hitler, Patton, Mussolini, Churchill, Tojo, DeGaulle and MacArthur. The series is narrated by Jeremy Renner and features interviews with contemporary leaders, including John McCain, Colin Powell, John Major and David Miliband, along with noted historians from around the world. Last night, the Television Academy presented its first ever live concert, Score! A Concert Celebrating Music Composed for Television, at UCLA’s Royce Hall. The event was hosted by film music journalist Jon Burlingame and featured music from over 50 television series performed by a 70-piece orchestra and the LA Chorus. To start off, Mark Watters conducted a medley featuring 24 themes from current and recent TV shows following a video montage of numerous classic themes. The medley included music from Once Upon a Time (Mark Isham), Sherlock (David Arnold & Michael Price), The Newsroom (Thomas Newman), Revolution (Christopher Lennertz), The Americans (Nathan Barr), Camelot (Mychael & Jeff Danna), Law & Order (Mike Post), Modern Family (Gabriel Mann) and Breaking Bad (Dave Porter).
