WaterTower Music has announced a soundtrack album for the sci-fi action thriller Edge of Tomorrow. The album features the film’s original music composed by Christophe Beck (Frozen, The Muppets, The Hangover, Buffy the Vampire Slayer). The soundtrack will be released on June 3, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips from the score after the jump. Edge of Tomorrow is directed by Doug Liman and stars Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton, Charlotte Riley, Jonas Armstrong, Kick Gurry, Dragomir Mrsic and Franz Drameh. The movie is set in the near future when an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault and follows an officer who finds himself reliving his last day over and over after being killed. Michael Giacchino to Score Pixar’s ‘Inside Out’

Michael Giacchino confirmed during the pre-concert conversation at the world premiere live-to-projection concert of Star Trek Into Darkness at the KKL Concert Hall in Lucerne, Switzerland this weekend that he will be scoring Pixar’s upcoming animated feature Inside Out. The film is directed by Pete Doctor and features the voice talent of Amy Poehler, Lewis Black, Bill Hader, Mindy Kaling and Phyllis Smith. The movie will be told from the perspective of the emotions inside the mind of an especially imaginative young girl. Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3, Little Miss Sunshine) has written the screenplay. Jonas Rivera (Up) is producing the project. Giacchino has previously collaborated with Docter on the 2009 film Up, for which he received his first Academy Award. Read the rest of this entry »

Director Gabriele Muccino has announced that James Horner will be scoring the upcoming drama Fathers and Daughters. The film stars Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, Aaron Paul, Quvenzhane Wallis, Diane Kruger, Jane Fonda, Octavia Spencer, Bruce Greenwood and Janet McTeer. The movie tells the story of a woman dealing with a crumbling relationship in the present and looking back on the relationship she had with her father, a Pulitzer Prize-winning writer, 25 years earlier. Brad Desch has written the Black List-honored screenplay. Craig J. Flores & Nicolas Chartier (The Hurt Locker, The Company You Keep) are producing the Voltage Pictures production with Sherryl Clark for Busted Shark Productions. Crowe serves as an executive producer. ‘The Pretty One’ Soundtrack Details

A soundtrack release for the indie comedy The Pretty One has been announced. The album features the film’s original music composed by Julian Wass (Hit & Run, Noah’s Ark: Jumping the Broom). The Pretty One is written and directed by Jenée LaMarque and starring Zoe Kazan, Jake Johnson, Ron Livingston, John Carroll Lynch and Frankie Shaw. The movie follows a young woman who is mistaken for her dead “perfect” identical twin and seizes the chance to masquerade as her sister. The comedy premiered at last year’s Tribeca Film Festival and was released in select theaters earlier this year. Two new movies are opening nationwide this holiday weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the superhero sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past directed by Bryan Singer and starring Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Peter Dinklage, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen. The film’s music is composed by John Ottman (X2, The Usual Suspects, The Fantastic Four) who also serves as the film’s editor. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as two songs from the film. Click here for the full album details. Antonio Pinto to Score Niki Caro’s ‘McFarland’

Antonio Pinto is composing the music for the upcoming sports drama McFarland. The film is directed by Niki Caro and stars Kevin Costner, Maria Bello, Morgan Saylor and Carlos Pratts. The movie is set in the 1980s and tells the true story of a high school coach who comes to the predominantly Latino town of McFarland, Calif. and creates a high school track team that becomes a championship-winning dynasty. Mark Ciardi & Gordon Gray (Miracle, The Rookie, Million Dollar Arm) are producing the project for Mayhem Pictures. ‘Walking on Sunshine’ Soundtrack Announced

Sony Classical will release a soundtrack album for the British musical Walking on Sunshine. The album features the songs from the film performed by cast members Leona Lewis, Annabel Scholey, Hannah Arterton, Giulio Berruti, Katy Brand and Greg Wise. Academy Award-winning composer Anne Dudley (The Full Monty, American History X) serves as the film’s music director. Featured titles are such classic 80s hit songs as The Power of Love, Girls Just Want to Have Fun, It Must Have Been Love, Eternal Love, If I Could Turn Back Time and Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go. The soundtrack will be released in the UK on June 23, 2014. Walking on Sunshine directed by Max Giwa and Dania Pasquini (StreetDance 3D) is set in a coastal village in Italy and details a holiday romance love triangle, an upcoming wedding and old flames. A&E Networks has released a soundtrack album for the History event docu-series The World Wars. The album features the show’s original music composed by Rusty Massive. The World Wars executive produced by Stephen David and directed by John Ealer tells the story of three devastating decades of war between 1914 and 1945 told through the eyes of the powerful leaders including Roosevelt, Hitler, Patton, Mussolini, Churchill, Tojo, DeGaulle and MacArthur. The series is narrated by Jeremy Renner and features interviews with contemporary leaders, including John McCain, Colin Powell, John Major and David Miliband, along with noted historians from around the world. Television Academy Celebrates TV Music at Live Concert

Last night, the Television Academy presented its first ever live concert, Score! A Concert Celebrating Music Composed for Television, at UCLA’s Royce Hall. The event was hosted by film music journalist Jon Burlingame and featured music from over 50 television series performed by a 70-piece orchestra and the LA Chorus. To start off, Mark Watters conducted a medley featuring 24 themes from current and recent TV shows following a video montage of numerous classic themes. The medley included music from Once Upon a Time (Mark Isham), Sherlock (David Arnold & Michael Price), The Newsroom (Thomas Newman), Revolution (Christopher Lennertz), The Americans (Nathan Barr), Camelot (Mychael & Jeff Danna), Law & Order (Mike Post), Modern Family (Gabriel Mann) and Breaking Bad (Dave Porter).
