The details of the soundtrack album for the film adaptation of The Maze Runner have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by John Paesano (Dragons: Riders of Berk, When the Game Stands Tall, Crisis). The soundtrack will be released on September 16, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips are embedded after the jump. The Maze Runner is directed by Wes Ball and stars Dylan O’Brien, Kaya Scodelario, Will Poulter, Aml Ameen and Thomas Brodie-Sangster. The movie based on the novel by James Dashner is set in a post-apocalyptic era where a group of teenage boys trapped in an enormous maze seek their freedom. Rael Jones has recently composed the music for the upcoming drama Suite Francaise. The film is directed by Saul Dibb (The Duchess) and stars Michelle Williams, Matthias Schoenaerts, Kristin Scott Thomas, Margot Robbie, Sam Riley, Ruth Wilson, Alexandra Maria Lara, Tom Schilling and Lambert Wilson. The movie based on the works of Irène Némirovsky follows a young woman in Nazi-occupied France who ends up falling in love with a German officer. Dibb and Matt Charman have co-written the screenplay and Xavier Marchand, Romain Brémond, Nichael Kuhn and Andrea Cornwell are producing the project. Premiering on Wednesday, August 20, on Netflix in the U.S. is the BBC mini-series Happy Valley created by Sally Wainwright (Last Tango in Halifax) and starring Sarah Lancashire, Steve Pemberton, Siobhan Finneran, George Costigan and Joe Armstrong. The show’s original music is composed by Ben Foster (Torchwood, Hidding Kingdoms). Happy Valley centers around the personal and professional life of hardworking, dedicated policewoman in a small town where alcoholics, drug addicts and pregnant teens are a way of life. The Creative Arts Emmy Awards were handed out this afternoon at the NOKIA Theatre LA LIVE in Downtown Los Angeles. Alan Silvestri won his first two Emmy Awards for both his score and his main titles theme music from Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey. David Arnold and Michael Price were honored with their first Emmy for their work on the Sherlock episode His Last Vow after being nominated twice before for their work on the series in previous years. In the Outstanding Music & Lyrics category, Tom Kitt and Lin-Manuel Miranda received an Emmy for the song Bigger!, which was written for the 67 Tony Awards ceremony. James Lavelle has composed the music for the upcoming drama Shelter. The film marks the directorial debut of actor Paul Bettany and stars Jennifer Connelly and Anthony Mackie. The movie follows two people from very different worlds who find strength and solace in each other while being homeless on the streets of New York. Bettany has also written the screenplay and is producing the project with Katie Mustard, Daniel Wagner (Reasonable Doubt) and Robert Ogden Barnum (Margin Call, Hateship Loveship). SCL Hosts Reception for Music Emmy Nominees

On Thursday evening, the Society of Composers & Lyricists (SCL) hosted its annual reception honoring the Emmy Award-nominated composers and songwriters in the music-related categories at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences headquarters in North Hollywood. SCL president Ashley Irwin, as well as Television Academy music peer group governors Ian Fraser and Michael A. Levine introduced the nominees who briefly spoke to the audience. Among the composers in the Outstanding Music Composition for a Series category present at the event were Ramin Djawadi who was Emmy-nominated before for Prison Break and Fast Forward and received his first nomination this year for his score for HBO’s Game of Thrones, as well as previous Emmy winner Jeff Beal who received his third nomination for his music from Netflix’s House of Cards after being nominated twice last year for both his score and his main title theme from the show. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the action sequel The Expendables 3 directed by Patrick Hughes and starring Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Dolph Lundgren, Kelsey Grammer, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The film’s music is composed by Brian Tyler (Iron Man 3, Fast & Furious, Thor: The Dark World) who previously scored the first two installments in the series. Lionsgate Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this werk and La-La Land Records will release a CD version later this month. Also opening wide is the sci-fi drama The Giver directed by Phillip Noyce and starring Brenton Thwaites, Odeya Rush, Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, Alexander Skarsgard, Taylor Swift, Cameron Monaghan, Emma Tremblay and Katie Holmes. Marco Beltrami (Scream, World War Z) has composed the film’s original score. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music. Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the thriller A Walk Among the Tombstones. The album features the film’s original music composed by Carlos Rafael Rivera. A Walk Among the Tombstones is written and directed by Scott Frank (The Lookout) and stars Liam Neeson, Dan Stevens, David Harbour and Boyd Holbrook. The movie is based on Lawrence Block’s bestselling series of mystery novels and follows an ex-NYPD cop who now works as an unlicensed private investigator operating just outside the law. ‘Life of Crime’ Soundtrack Details

Varese Sarabande will release a soundtrack album for the caper comedy Life of of Crime. The album features the film’s original music composed by The Newton Brothers (Oculus, Detachment, High School, Pawn Shop Chronicles). Also included is an instrumental version of Hearts on Ice by Jordan Galland. The soundtrack will be released digitally on August 25, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Life of Crime is directed by Daniel Schechter and stars Jennifer Aniston, yasiin bey, Mark Boone Junior, Isla Fisher, Will Forte, Tim Robbins and John Hawkes. The movie is based on Elmore Leonard’s novel The Switch and follows the wife of a corrupt real estate developer who is kidnapped by two common criminals who intend to extort him with inside information about his crooked business and off-shore accounts. 2014 Hollywood Music in Media Awards Schedule Announced

The schedule for this year’s Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMAs) has been announced. The 5th edition of the event, which recognizes and honors music of visual mediums and the individuals who create, produce and place compositions in the medium, will take place on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at The Fonda Theater in Hollywood. The 2014 HMMAs welcome back celebrity hosts including Academy Award-nominated actor Eric Roberts, former Matchbox 20 member Adam Gaynor, writer/director/producer Andy Fickman and Earh, Wind & Fire’s Verdine White.
