asterixCristal Records has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the 3D animated feature Asterix: The Land of the Gods (Astérix: Le domaine des dieux). The album features the film’s original music composed by Philippe Rombi (Swimming PoolThe New GirlfriendPoticheIn the House). Also included is Johann Sebastian Bach’s Fugue No. 5 in D Minor as used in the movie. The soundtrack will be released in France on December 8, 2014. Only one new movie is opening wide this weekend:

mockinjay-scoreExpected to have the biggest opening of the year at the domestic box office is The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 directed by  Francis Lawrence and starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Stanley Tucci, Elizabeth Banks, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Woody Harrelson. The film’s original score is composed by James Newton Howard who previously scored the first two installments in the series. Republic Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from and inspired by the film, including the original song Yellow Flicker Beat by Lorde who curated the album. reach-meOpening in limited release is the drama Reach Me written and directed by John Herzfeld and starring Sylvester Stallone, Tom Berenger, Kevin Connolly, Kyra Sedgwick, Nelly, Kelsey Grammer, Cary Elwes, Terry Crews, Ryan Kwanten and Tom Sizemore. Tree Adams (CalifornicationPerception) has composed the film’s original score. chappieAccording to Hans-Zimmer.comHans Zimmer has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming sci-fi thriller Chappie. The film is directed by Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium) and stars Hugh Jackman, Dev Patel, Ninja and Yo-Landi Visser, Jose Pablo Cantillo, Sigourney Weaver, as well as Sharlto Copley as the voice of the title character. The movie follows a robot named Chappie who is kidnapped by two criminals and becomes the adopted son of a very strange and dysfunctional family. Bell, Brian Van Holt, Tricia Helfer, Andrea Roth, Tiffany Lonsdale, Ryan Robbins, Jacqueline Byers, P.J. Boudousqué and Gil Bellows. The sci-fi drama follows a covert U.S. space mission launched in the 1960’s that sent hundreds of men, women and children on a century-long voyage aboard the starship Ascension to populate a new world. ‘Paddington’ Soundtrack Details

paddingtonDecca Records will release a soundtrack album for the family movie Paddington. The album features the film’s original score composed by Nick Urata (Crazy, Stupid, LoveRuby SparksI Love You Phillip Morris). Also included are the songs from the movie by artists including James Brown, Steppenwolf and Lionel Richie. The soundtrack will be released in the UK on December 15, 2014 and in the U.S. on January 13, 2015. ‘Unbroken’ Soundtrack Preview

unbrokenUniversal Pictures has published five tracks from the original score for Angelina Jolie’s epic drama Unbroken. The film’s music is composed by Alexandre Desplat (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The King’s Speech). As reported earlier this week, Parlophone Records will release a soundtrack album featuring both Desplat’s score, as well as the original song Miracles written and performed by Coldplay. The film is directed by Steve Martino (Horton Hears a Who!, Ice Age: Continental Draft) is based on the comic strip by Charles M. Schulz and marks the first CGI-animated fiom based on the property and the first feature featuring the characters in 35 years. The movie follows Snoopy who embarks upon his greatest mission as he and his team take to the skies to pursue their arch-nemesis, while his best friend Charlie Brown begins his own quest back home. andrew-hewittAndrew Hewitt has been hired to score the upcoming psychological thriller The Stanford Prison Experiment. The film is directed by Kyle Patrick Alvarez (C.O.G.) and stars Billy Crudup, Ezra Miller, Olivia Thirlby, Nelsan Ellis, Ki Hong Lee, Tye Sheridan, Michael Angarano, Jack Kilmer and Nicholas Braun. The movie is based on the 1971 psychological exercise, for which randomly-chosen 19 and 20-year-old students were divided into camps of either prison guards or prisoners. Tim Talbott (Chicago Fire) has written the screenplay. Brent Emery is producing the project with Lizzie Friedman & Greg Little (Sex and Death 101), Karen Lauder (And Soon the Darkness), actor Brian Geraghty (The Hurt Locker) and Lauren Bratman (And While We Were Here).
