Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

inside-outOpening in most theaters is the animated feature Inside Out directed by Pete Docter and featuring the voices of Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, Mindy Kaling, Lewis Black and Phyllis Smith. The film’s original music is composed by Michael Giacchino (Up, Ratatouille, The Incredibles, Jurassic World, Star Trek). Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this week. dopeAlso opening wide is the comedy drama Dope written and directed by Rick Famuyiwa and starring Shameik Moore, Tony Revolori, Kiersey Clemons, Kimberly Elise, A$AP Rocky, Blake Anderson, Keith Stanfield, Chanel Iman, Quincy Brown and Zoë Kravitz. Pharrell Williams has written the movie’s original songs performed by the fictional band Awreeoh. Also included and Germaine Franco has composed the film’s original score. Columbia Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film by Awreeoh, Digital Underground, Naughty By Nature, A Tribe Called Quest, Nas, Public Enemy & more. mastermindsGeoff Zanelli is composing the score for the upcoming heist comedy Masterminds. The film is directed by Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite, Nacho Libre) and stars Zach Galifianakis, Kristen Wiig, Owen Wilson, Jason Sudeikis, Kate McKinnon, Jon Daley and Ken Marino. The movie follows a disgruntled armored car driver who teams up with a pretty co-worker and a group of inexperienced criminals to steal nearly $20 million from a bank vault. cartel-landLakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the documentary Cartel Land. The album features the film’s original music composed by H. Scott Salinas (The Square, Allegiance, Murder in the First) and Jackson Greenberg. The soundtrack will be released digitally on June 30, 2015 and physically on September 18. Cartel Land is directed by Matthew Heineman and centers on the battle between border vigilante groups and murderous Mexican drug cartels, with the vigilantes able to accomplish things law enforcement cannot. federico-jusidFederico Jusid is composing the music for the upcoming thriller Kidnap. The film is directed by Luis Prieto (Pusher) and stars Halle Berry, Sage Correa, Lew Temple and Chris McGinn. The movie follows a mother who will stop at nothing to rescue her kidnapped son. Knate Gwaltney’s wrote the screenplay. Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers series, G.I. The film is directed by Rachel Lee Goldenberg (Escape from Polygamy, Love at the Christmas Table) and stars Will Ferrell, Kristen Wiig and Jessica Lowndes. The movie follows a successful couple who house and care for a pregnant woman during the final months of her pregnancy with the hopes of adopting her unborn child. i-am-big-birdVarese Sarabande will release a soundtrack album for the documentary I Am Big Bird: The Caroll Spinney Story. The album features the film’s original music composed by Joshua Johnson. The soundtrack will be released on July 31, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. I Am Big Bird is directed and produced by Dave LaMattina & Chad Walker and chronicles the life of Caroll Spinney, the man who has been Sesame Street’s Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch since 1969. gold-coastFake Diamond Records will release a soundtrack album for the Danish drama Gold Coast. The album features the film’s original music composed by Angelo Badalamenti (Twin PeaksMulholland DriveBlue Velvet, The Straight Story), Lasse Martinussen and Johan Carøe, as well as the title song Remember Me performed by Kwamie Liv. The soundtrack will be released overseas tomorrow, June 18 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips are embedded after the jump. Gold Coast is directed by Daniel Dencik and stars Jakob Oftebro and Danica Curcic. The movie centers on the illegal Danish slave trade on Africa’s Gold Coast and is set in the 1830s as Wulff Joseph Wulff arrives in Africa to set up plantations and falls in love with a slave girl despite having a fiancée at home in Denmark. south-of-hellNathan Whitehead has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming WE tv original series South of Hell. The show is executive produced by Eli Roth (Hostel, Hemlock Grove, Cabin Fever) & Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Insidious, Whiplash) and stars Mena Suvari, Zachary Booth, Bill Irwin, Drew Moerlein, Lamman Rucker and Paulina Singer. The supernatural thriller is set in Savannah, GA and follows a reluctant exorcist for hire with her very own demon living inside of her. Roth has also directed the pilot episode. lavaWalt Disney Records has released the music from the Pixar animated short Lava. The single features the original song from the movie composed by the film’s director James Ford Murphy and featuring vocals by Kuana Torres Kahele and Napua Greig. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out an audio sample. Lava tells a story that takes place over millions of years and is inspired by the beauty of tropical islands and the allure of ocean volcanoes. The animated short is being released in front of Pixar’s Inside Out, which opens in theaters nationwide this Friday, July 19.
