Walt Disney Records will release a new soundtrack album for the Disney+ original documentary series Light & Magic. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s second season composed by Michael Dean Parsons (Pain Hustlers, Sketchbook, Stan Lee, Obi-Wan Kenobi: A Jedi’s Return) and Xander Rodzinski (Willow, Dead for a Dollar, Bolt from the Blue, Inhabitants). James Newton Howard (who scored the first season) has contributed the themes. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, April 25. The label has previously released an album featuring music from Season 1 back in 2022. Expanded ‘Jurassic Park III’ Soundtrack Album Announced
La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 2001 sci-fi action adventure Jurassic Park III directed by Joe Johnston and starring Sam Neill, William H. Macy, Téa Leoni, Trevor Morgan, Alessandro Nivola and Michael Jeter. The album features the original score from the Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment production composed and conducted by Don Davis (The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded, The Matrix Revolutions, Behind Enemy Lines, Bound, Valentine), including previously unreleased music. John Williams has provided the original Jurassic Park themes. The 2-CD set, which is limited to 3,000 copies, is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also check out audio samples and find out more about the release. Decca Records has previously released the original 2001 soundtrack album.

Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1989 family sci-fi comedy Honey, I Shrunk the Kids directed by Joe Johnston and starring Rick Moranis, Matt Frewer, Marcia Strassman, Kristine Sutherland, Jared Rushton and Thomas Brown. The album features the expanded original score from the Walt Disney Pictures production composed and conducted by Academy Award winner James Horner (Titanic, Braveheart, Apollo 11, Avatar, A Beautiful Mind, Field of Dreams, Aliens), including previously unreleased tracks. Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1995 fantasy adventure Jumanji directed by Joe Johnston and starring Robin Williams, Kirsten Dunst, David Alan Grier, Jonathan Hyde, Bradley Pierce and Bonnie Hunt. The album features the film’s expanded original score composed and conducted by Academy Award winner James Horner (Titanic, Avatar, A Beautiful Mind, Field of Dreams, Braveheart, Apollo 13, Aliens, The Rocketeer), including around 20 minutes of previously unreleased music, as well as the content of the original 1995 soundtrack album (released by Epic Soundtrax). Tyler Bates Scoring Takashi Shimizu’s ‘7500’ and Joe Johnston’s ‘Not Safe for Work’
Tyler Bates has been tapped to score the upcoming horror thriller 7500. The film is directed by Takashi Shimizu and stars Leslie Bibb, Ryan Kwanten, Amy Smart and Jamie Chung. The movie follows a group of passengers who encounter what appears to be a supernatural force while on a transpacific flight. Craig Rosenberg (The Uninvited, After the Sunset) has written the screenplay and Taka Ichise (Ring, The Grudge) and Roy Lee (The Strangers, The Lake House) are producing the project. Shimizu has previously worked with composer Christopher Young on his previous two major American features The Grudge and The Grudge 2.
BREAKING NEWS: Alan Silvestri to score ‘Captain America’
Film Music Reporter has learned that Alan Silvestri has signed on to score the upcoming comic book movie Captain America: The First Avenger. The film marks the first collaboration between Silvestri and director Joe Johnston, who previously has worked with such composers as James Horner, Danny Elfman, James Newton Howard and Mark Isham. The film also marks Silvestri’s first scoring assignment since last year’s summer action film The A-Team and his first comic book adaptation since 1995’s Judge Dredd starring Sylvester Stallone. A number of composers, including Michael Giacchino and John Powell have been rumored to take the scoring assignment, but ultimately Silvestri was hired to score the film. Captain America: The First Avenger stars Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci and Dominic Cooper is scheduled to open on July 21, 2011.
Alan Menken to write music for ‘Captain America’
According to Badass Digest, Alan Menken is involved in Joe Johnston’s upcoming comic book adaptation of Captain America: The First Avenger. The site doesn’t mention any specifics about Menken’s involvment, but it is expected that he would write a song or songs for the time when Captain America is in the USO. There have been many rumors going around about the composer of the score for the movie, but the last thing we’ve heard is that several composers have been approached to write the score, but there is still no official composer on board at this time. We will be posting an update as soon as we’ll find out more information. Joe Johnston previously worked with such composers as James Horner (The Rocketeer), Danny Elfman (The Wolfman), James Newton Howard (Hidalgo), Mark Isham (October Sky) and Don Davis (Jurassic Park III).
