‘Hannibal’ Season 3 Soundtracks Announced

hannibal-3-1Lakeshore Records will release two soundtrack albums for the NBC and Gaumont Television series Hannibal. The albums feature selections of the original music from the show’s third and final season composed by Brian Reitzell (Lost in TranslationFriday Night LightsBossStranger Than Fiction). Also included are the original songs Love Crime from the Wrath of the Lamb feat. Siouxsie Sioux and Snake Charmer feat. Marc Almond. The soundtracks will be released digitally on December 11, 2015 and physically in early 2016. Intrada Records has announced an expanded soundtrack album for Tim Burton’s 1990 fantasy drama Edward Scissorhands starring Johnny Depp, Vincent Price, Winona Ryder and Kathy Baker. The album features the film’s original score composed & produced by Danny Elfman (Spider-Man, Batman, Alice in WonderlandAvengers: Age of Ultron, A Nightmare Before Christmas) and conducted by Shirley Walker, including previously unreleased music. imageIntrada Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for last year’s Chinese fantasy action adventure The Monkey King. The album features the film’s original music composed by Golden Globe nominee Christopher Young (Spider-Man 3HellraiserThe Shipping NewsEntrapmentThe Exorcism of Emily Rose). The soundtrack is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also listen to audio samples. The Monkey King is directed by Pou-Soi Cheang (Dog Bite Dog) and stars Donnie Yen in the title role, alongside Aaron Kwok, Chow Yun-Fat, Peter Ho, Kelly Chen and Joe Chen. trollsChristophe Beck has been tapped to score DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming feature Trolls. The film is directed by Mike Mitchell (Shrek Forever AfterSky High) & Walt Dohrn and features the voices of Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake. The movie is based on the Troll dolls – created by Danish woodcutter Thomas Dam in 1959 based on the legendary Scandinavian troll. Gina Shay (Shrek Forever After) is producing the movie. The project will mark Beck’s third full-length animated feature following Disney’s Frozen and Blue Sky’s The Peanuts Movie, which is currently playing in theaters.  Read the rest of this entry »

coat-of-many-colorsPremiering on Thursday, December 10, is the NBC movie Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors directed by Stephen Herek (Mr. Holland’s OpusBill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure) and starring Jennifer Nettles, Ricky Schroder, Gerald McRaney and Alyvia Alyn Lin. The film’s original music is composed by Mark Leggett (My Name is EarlAnne Frank’s Holocaust) and Velton Ray Bunch (Quantum LeapStar Trek: Enterprise) who previously collaborated on the theme for the NBC drama The Pretender. The movie is set in the Tennessee Great Smoky Mountains in 1955 and tells the story of the incidents in Dolly Parton’s and her family’s life around the time she was nine years old. the-ridiculous-6Premiering on Friday, December 11, is the Netflix original movie The Ridiculous 6 directed by Frank Coraci and starring Adam Sandler, Taylor Lautner, Nick Nolte, Will Forte, Rob Schneider, Terry Crews, Blake Shelton, Whitney Cummings, Steve Buscemi, Luke Wilson, Steve Zahn, Jorge Garcia, Danny Trejo, Chris Parnell, Nick Swardson and Jon Lovitz. Rupert Gregson-Williams (ClickBee Movie, Veep, You Don’t Mess with the ZohanBedtime Stories) and Elmo Weber has composed the film’s original music. The comedy western follows an outlaw who was raised by Native Americans and, alongside his five brothers, goes on a mission to find their wayward, deadbeat dad. The film will be available to stream on Netflix.

love-and-mercyA couple of major local critics associations have announced their winners for this year’s movies. The music from Bill Pohlad’s biographical drama Love & Mercy (by songwriter Brian Wilson and composer Atticus Ross) was singled out by both the New York Film Critics online and the Boston Society of Film Critics, while Carter Burwell was honored for his music for Charlie Kaufman’s Anomalisa and Todd Haynes’ Carol by the LA Film Critics. The album features the film’s original music composed by Hans Zimmer (The Lion King, Gladiator, Inception, Interstellar, The Dark Knight). Pianist Lang Lang is featured on a number of tracks of the composer’s score. Also included is a cover version of Kung Fu Fighting by The Vamps, as well as a song by Patrick Brasca feat. Jay Chou. The soundtrack will be released on January 22, 2016 by Sony Classical and is now available for pre-order on Amazon.
