Adrian Johnston has been tapped to score the upcoming BBC original mini-series Close to the Enemy. The 6-parter is created by Stephen Poliakoff and stars Jim Sturgess, Freddie Highmore, Charlotte Riley, Alfie Allen, Charity Wakefield, Angela Bassett and Alfred Molina. The series is set during World War II and follows a British intelligence officer whose final task for the Army is to convince a captured German scientis to hand over cutting-edge military technology crucial to national security – the jet engine. Marco Beltrami and Dennis Smith are composing the music for the new Fox drama Lucifer. The show is based on the DC Comics characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth & Mike Dringenberg and stars Tom Ellis, Lauren German, Rachael Harris, DB Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro and Scarlett Estevez. The series centers around the Lord of Hell as he resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the shimmering insanity of Los Angeles, where he opens an exclusive piano bar called Lux and helps the LAPD punish criminals. MovieScore Media will release a soundtrack album for the indie drama Lamb. The album features the film’s original music composed by Daniel Belardinelli. The soundtrack will be released digitally on January 8, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Lamb is written and directed by Ross Partridge who also stars in the film alongside Oona Laurence. The movie follows a man who meets a young girl in a parking lot and attempts to help her avoid a bleak destiny by initiating her into the beauty of the outside world. Ryan Coogler‘s Creed not only features one of our favorite scores of the year, but is also easily our top choice for best use of original songs in a movie in 2015. The way Ludwig Goransson‘s score is integrated into the film’s songs and vice versa makes this a standout example of how a unified musical concept can shape a film’s narrative and help the overall quality. In addition to co-writing the tracks for Tessa Thompson’s character’s band in the film, the composer co-wrote the song Waiting for My Moment with Coogler, as well as Vince Staples and Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) who are performing the track with Jhene Aiko. Goransson and Coogler also co-wrote the song Fighting Strong, which is performed by Aiko. All original songs are featured on the Creed soundtrack album available on Republic Records. Intrada Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for the Japanese 1992 drama The Setting Sun directed by Rou Tomono and starring Masaya Kato, Diane Lane and Yuen Biao. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Academy Award winner composer Maurice Jarre (Lawrence of Arabia, Ghost, Doctor Zhivago, Witness, Good Morning Vietnam).
