Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the indie drama Captain Fantastic. The album features the film’s original music composed by Alex Somers who previously co-scored the features Aloha and All the Wilderness, as well as the first season of Manhattan with Sigur Rós’ Jónsi. The soundtrack will be released on July 8, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Captain Fantastic is written and directed by Matt Ross and stars Viggo Mortensen, Frank Langella, George MacKay, Kathryn Hahn, Steve Zahn and Ann Dowd. The movie follows a father devoted to raising his six kids with a rigorous physical and intellectual education who is forced to leave the forests of the Pacific Northwest and to re-enter society. Sony Classical to Release Danny Elfman’s ‘Rabbit & Rogue’ Ballet Score

Sony Classical will release Danny Elfman‘s music for the ballet Rabbit & Rogue. The composer of such films as Spider-Man, Batman, Alice in Wonderland, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Men in Black composed the score for the American Ballet Theatre. The ballet premiered in June 2008 at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York and was recorded for a CD release in 2014. A.R. Rahman is composing the music for the upcoming period drama Viceroy’s House. The film is directed by Gurinder Chadha (Bend It Like Beckham) and stars Hugh Bonneville, Gillian Anderson, Simon Callow, Lily Travers, Michael Gambon, Manish Dayal, Huma Qureshi, Om Puri, Tanveer Ghani, Denzil Smith and Neeraj Kabi. The movie chronicles the life inside Viceroy’s House, the sumptuous Delhi home of the British rulers of India, and the momentous political decisions that led to the Partition of India in 1947. David Julyan has recently recorded his score for the upcoming supernatural thriller The Crucifixion. The film is directed by Xavier Gens (Hitman, The Divide) and stars Sophie Cookson, Javier Botet, Alexis Rodney and Radu Andrei Micu. The movie is based on the true story of a priest who was convicted of murdering a nun after performing an exorcism on her. Chad and Carey Hayes (The Conjuring, The Reaping, House of Wax) have written the screenplay. San Diego Symphony to Perform Michael Giacchino’s ‘Star Trek Beyond’ Score at Film’s World Premiere at Comic-Con

Paramount Pictures, Skydance, Bad Robot and director Justin Lin have announced that the San Diego Symphony Orchestra will perform the original score for the upcoming sci-fi adventure Star Trek Beyond at the film’s world premiere at Comic-Con International on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at the Embarcadero Marina Park South in San Diego. The film’s music is composed by Michael Giacchino (Up, Lost, Inside Out, Jurassic World, The Incredibles) who previously scored J.J. Abrams’ 2009 reboot and its 2013 sequel Star Trek Into Darkness. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the animated feature The Angry Birds Movie directed by Fergal Reilly & Clay Kaytis and starring Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Maya Rudolph, Bill Hader, Peter Dinklage, Kate McKinnon and Keegan-Michael Key. The film’s original music is composed by Heitor Pereira (Despicable Me, Minions, The Smurfs). Atlantic Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film, as well as a separate soundtrack featuring Pereira’s score. Also opening wide is the comedy sequel Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising directed by Nicholas Stoller and starring Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, Rose Byrne, Chloë Grace Moretz, Dave Franco, Ike Barinholtz, Carla Gallo, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Kiersey Clemons and Beanie Feldstein. Michael Andrews (Bridesmaids, Donnie Darko, Bad Teacher, Funny People) who previously scored the 2014 original film has composed the film’s original score. Back Lot Music has released two songs from the film, Black Skinhead by Jacques Slade, THURZ & El Prez, and Party in My Pants by Kill the Giant. Check out our previous article for more information.
