Columbia Records will release a soundtrack album for the drama Southside with You. The album features the original song Start by John Legend (who serves as an executive producer on the movie), as well as tracks by Janet Jackson, The Delfonics, Soul II Soul, Slick Rick, Bill Withers, Al B. Sure!, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas and Teddy Pendergrass. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, August 26. Southside with You is written and directed by Richard Tanne and stars Tika Sumpter, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Parker Sawyers and Jerod Haynes. Lakeshore Records will release the official soundtrack album for Ewan McGregor’s directorial debut American Pastoral. Sony Classical will release a deluxe edition soundtrack for the BBC original series Poldark. The album features the show’s original music composed by Anne Dudley (The Full Monty, Black Book, Elle, American History X), including the content of the first soundtrack album for the drama, which was released last year, as well as a new performance of the Poldark theme performed by pianist Lang Lang. Also included are two newly recorded folk songs performed by actress Eleanor Tomlinson that feature in key moments during the series, and a 5-minute suite of the most popular themes from the series. Hampton Fancher and Michael Green (Green Lantern) have written the screenplay. Benjamin Wallfisch has been tapped to score the upcoming horror thriller Rings. The film is directed by F. Javier Gutierrez (Before the Fall) and stars Matilda Lutz, Alex Roe, Johnny Galecki, Aimee Teegarden, Bonnie Morgan and Vincent D’Onofrio. The movie is the third part in the Ring franchise and follows a young woman who becomes worried about her boyfriend when he explores a dark subculture surrounding a mysterious videotape said to kill the watcher seven days after he has viewed it.
