It was announced today that Nicholas Britell will team up with with dancer and choreographer Benjamin Millepied to score the upcoming musical drama Carmen. The film is inspired by French composer Georges Bizet’s opera and centers on a woman who travels from the deserts of Mexico to Los Angeles in search of freedom. Mandy Hoffman has composed the original score for the new Amazon original series I Love Dick. The show is created by Jill Soloway (Transparent, Lars and the Real Girl) & Sarah Gubbins (Ten Aker Wood) and stars Kevin Bacon, Kathryn Hahn, Griffin Dunne and Roberta Colindrez. The comedy is based on Chris Kraus’ 1997 novel of the same name and is set in a colorful academic community in Marfa, Texas, where a struggling married couple and their mutual obsession with an off-putting but charismatic professor. Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for David Lowery’s indie drama A Ghost Story. The album features the film’s original music composed by Daniel Hart (Tumbledown, Comet, The Exorcist) who previously scored the director’s Ain’t Them Bodies Saints and Pete’s Dragon. The soundtrack will be released on July 7, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The movie tells the story of Rudolf Nureye, the legendary Soviet ballet dancer and choreographer and his defection to the West. David Hare (The Hours, The Reader) wrote the screenplay. Lakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack album for the documentary David Lynch: The Art Life. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jonatan Bengta who is also known as the artis The mOOnbird. The soundtrack will be released digitally on May 12, 2017. David Lynch: The Art Life is directed by Jon Nguyen and looks at Lynch’s art, music, and early films, shining a light into the dark corners of his unique world and giving audiences a better understanding of the man and the artist.
