The line-up for two film music-related panels at Comic-Con 2017 has been announced. On Friday, July 21, a number of film/Tv composers will participate in the 9th annual Behind the Music panel presented by CW3PR and Impact24 PR. Jeff Russo (Legion, Fargo), Sean Callery (Jessica Jones, 24), Kris Bowers (Dear White People), Mac Quayle (Mr. Robot, American Horror Story), Siddhartha Khosla (This Is Us, Runaways) and Blake Neely (The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, Riverdale) will be participating in a discussion moderated by actors Rachel Keller (Legion, Fargo) & Jeremie Harris (Legion,The Get Down). John Paesano is composing the music for the new CBS drama Salvation. The show is developed by Liz Kruger & Craig Shapiro (Necessary Roughness) based on a story by Matt Wheeler and stars Santiago Cabrera, Jennifer Finnigan, Charlie Rowe, Jacqueline Byers, Rachel Drance, Shazi Raja and Ian Anthony Dale. Lakeshore Records will release a score album for the horror thriller Wish Upon. The album features the film’s original music composed by tomandandy (The Strangers, 47 Meters Down, The Rules of Attraction, The Mothman Prophecies). The album features the film’s original music composed by Ian Hultquist (Animal, My Blind Brother, The Diabolical). 5th Annual Superhero Music Panel at Comic-Con Announced

The line-up of the 5th Annual Musical Anatomy of a Superhero panel has been announced. A number of Hollywood film and TV composers will explain the process and challenges of creating the musical voice behind the superhero and their environment as well as collaborating with the director, producers and the franchise. Participating composers include Marco Beltrami who recently scored James Mangold’s Logan, and has previously scored comic book movies including The Wolverine, Fantastic Four and Hellboy, Brian Tyler whose superhero film credits include Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, Thor: The Dark World and Iron Man 3 and Ludwig Goransson who is making his scoring debut in the genre on Marvel’s upcoming Black Panther. Dominic Lewis has been tapped to score the upcoming action thriller Hunter Killer. The film is directed by Donovan Marsh (Avenged) and stars Gerard Butler, Gary Oldman, Billy Bob Thornton, Willem Dafoe, Common, Gabriel Chavarria, Toby Stephens, Linda Cardellini and Michael Nyqvist. The movie follows an untested American captain who teams with Navy Seals for a mission to rescue the Russian president. Composer Joseph Stephens is reteaming with director Jody Hill on the upcoming comedy The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter. The movie starring Josh Brolin, Danny McBride, Montana Jordan and Scoot McNairy revolves around a sixth-grade boy who is supposed to be bonding with his father on a hunting trip, but is far from interested.
