Quartet Records and Mira Mi Música have released a soundtrack album for the animated sequel Tad Jones and the Secret of King Midas (Tadeo Jones 2: El secreto del Rey Midas). The album features the film’s original music composed by Zacarias M. de la Riva (Automata, Pet) who previously scored 2012’s original movie Tad: The Lost Explorer and performed by the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. A CD version is available to order on Quartet’s official website. Netflix announced today that Glen Ballard is composing original music for the upcoming Netflix original series The Eddy. The musical drama is creaed by Jack Thorne (National Treasure, This is England) and revolves around a club in contemporary multicultural Paris, its owner, the house band, and the chaotic city that surrounds them. The show will be shot in France and feature dialogue in French, English and Arabic. Damien Chazelle (La La Land, Whiplash) is directing the first two episodes and will serve as an executive producer on the IMG production alongside Ballard,Thorne, Alan Poul (Six Feet Under, The Newsroom), Patrick Spence (Guerrilla, Fortitude) and Katie Swinden (Luther, Peaky Blinders). Taro Iwashiro is reteaming with director John Woo on the upcoming action thriller Manhunt. The film starring Zhang Hanyu, Masaharu Fukuyama, Qi Wei and Ha Jiwon is based on the classic 1970s Japanese feature Kimi yo Fundo no Kawa o Watare and follows an innocent man who sets out to clear his name after his is framed for robbery and rape. Gordon Chan (Painted Skin, he Medaillon) and Chan Hing Kai are producing the project. Opening in most theaters is the 40th anniversary re-release of Close Encounters of the Third Kind directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Richard Dreyfuss, Teri Garr, Melinda Dillon and Francois Truffaut. The film’s original music is composed by John Williams (Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jurassic Park, Jaws). While Arista’s 1998 Collector’s Edition soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score is still available digitally, a new limited soundtrack CD for the movie was announced this week and will be released by La-La Land Records. No word yet on a release date.
Also opening wide is the period drama Tulip Fever directed by Justin Chadwick and starring Alicia Vikander, Dan DeHaan, Christoph Waltz, Holliday Grainger, Jack O’Connell, Zach Galifianakis, Dame Judi Dench, Matthew Morrison, Tom Hollander and Cara Delevingne. Danny Elfman (Batman, Spider-Man, Alice in Wonderland, A Nightmare Before Christmas) has composed the film’s original music.
