Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the sci-fi thriller Blade Runner 2049 directed by Denis Villeneuve and starring Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri, Lennie James, Dave Bautista and Jared Leto. The film’s original music is composed by Hans Zimmer (Inception, The Dark Knight) and Benjamin Wallfisch (It, Hidden Figures). Epic and ASG Records have released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score, as well as songs by Lauren Daigle, Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley. Also opening wide is the drama The Mountain Between Us directed by Hany Abu-Assad and starring Kate Winslet, Idris Elba, Beau Bridges and Dermot Mulroney. Ramin Djawadi (Game of Thrones, Westworld, Iron Man, Pacific Rim) has composed the film’s original music. Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. WaterTower Music will release the official soundtrack album for the comic book movie Justice League. The album features the film’s original music composed by Danny Elfman (Spider-Man, Alice in Wonderland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Men in Black) who reportedly is using his theme from Tim Burton’s Batman, as well as John Williams’ Superman theme in his score. The soundtrack is expected to be released digitally in November. The CD version is currently set for a release on December 8 and is now available for pre-order on
Dhani Harrison and Paul Hicks are composing the original score for the new Showtime original series White Famous. The show is created by Tom Kapinos (Californication, Lucifer) and stars Jay Pharoa, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Jacob Ming-Trent, Lonnie Chavis and Meagan Good. The comedy is based on the life of actor Jamie Foxx and follows a young African-American comedian whose star is on the rise and must navigate to maintain his credibility while attempting to become “white famous.” Kapinos is also executive producing the project with Foxx and Tim Story (Fantastic Four, Ride Along, Think Like a Man) who also directed the pilot episode.
Varese Sarabande has announced the full details of the first official soundtrack album for the NBC hit drama The West Wing. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by W.G. Snuffy Walden (Friday Night Lights, Under the Dome, Nashville) who received an Emmy Award for his main titles theme from the series. The full details of the soundtrack album for Kenneth Branagh’s Murder on the Orient Express have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Patrick Doyle (Sense and Sensibility, Cinderella, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Rise of the Planet to the Apes, Thor, Brave). James Seymour Brett has composed the original music for the upcoming animated feature Here Comes the Grump. The movie is directed Andrés Couturier and features the voices of Lily Collins, Ian McShane and Toby Kebbell. The film follows a teenager with a vivid imagination who finds himself magically transported via his Grandma’s retro theme park to the land of Groovynham where he meets a princess. Jim Hecht (Ice Age: The Meltdown) wrote the screenplay.
