Variety is reporting that Benj Pasek and Justin Paul will write original songs for Fox Animation/Blue Sky Studios’ upcoming animated feature Foster. The film is directed by Karen Disher (Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas) & Steve Martino (The Peanuts Movie, Horton Hears a Who!) and revolves around a young super fan who isn’t satisfied with the ending to a series of fantasy books and finds himself transported into a mystical world with the books’ author. A soundtrack album has been released for Adil El Arbi’s & Bilall Fallah’s Belgian crime thriller Gangsta (Patser). The album features the film’s original music composed by Hannes De Maeyer who previously scored the directors’ last features Black and Image. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio clips. Gangsta is co-written and directed by El Arbi & Fallah (Snowfall) and stars Matteo Simoni, Nora Gharib and Nabil Mallat. The movie is set in contemporary Belgium and follows four drug dealer friends who are fan of “Scarface” and aspire to become real-life swaggers and organized crime legends. Andrew Feltenstein and John Nau are scoring the upcoming comedy Action Point. The film is directed by Tim Kirkby (Brockmire) and stars Johnny Knoxville. The movie imagines what would happen if Knoxville and his cohorts irresponsibly designed and operated their own theme park. Knoxville also co-wrote the screenplay with John Altschuler & Dave Krinsky (Silicon Valley, King of the Hill, Extract) and is producing the project with Billy Gerber (Gran Torino, The Dukes of Hazzard) and Derek Freda (Bad Grandpa). The full details of the soundtrack album for Mark Pellington’s drama Nostalgia have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Laurent Eyquem (Copperhead, Winnie Mandela, Rage, USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage). Premiering tonight is the new HBO original series Here and Now created by Alan Ball (Six Feet Under, True Blood) and starring Tim Robbins, Holly Hunter, Jerrika Hinton, Daniel Zovatto, Raymond Lee, Sosie Bacon, Andy Bean, Joe Williamson and Peter Macdissi. Michael Penn (Girls, Masters of Sex, Boogie Nights, Sunshine Cleaning) is composing the show’s original score. 20th Century Fox TV Records has released Aimee Mann‘s cover of The Cars’ hit song Drive from FX’s limited series The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. The track, which was featured in the last episode of the show, is now available to download as a digital single on Amazon. The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story is developed by Tom Rob Smith and executive produced by Ryan Murphy and stars Darren Criss, Edgar Ramírez, Penelope Cruz and Ricky Martin. Jóhann Jóhannsson passed away in Berlin this past Friday at age 48. The cause of death is unknown. The composer won the Golden Globe and received Oscar, BAFTA and Grammy nominations for his score for James Marsh’s The Theory of Everything. The following year, he won received an Oscar and BAFTA nomination for his music for Denis Villeneuve’s Sicario and also saw the release of Villeneuve’s Arrival, for which he received Golden Globe, BAFTA and Grammy nominations. The film is directed by Julia Hart and stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Lorraine Toussaint, Saniyya Sidney, Christopher Denham and David Strathairn. The movie revolves around a woman who is forced to go on the run when her extraordinary abilities are discovered.
