Premiering tonight is the new HBO original series Here and Now created by Alan Ball (Six Feet Under, True Blood) and starring Tim Robbins, Holly Hunter, Jerrika Hinton, Daniel Zovatto, Raymond Lee, Sosie Bacon, Andy Bean, Joe Williamson and Peter Macdissi. Michael Penn (Girls, Masters of Sex, Boogie Nights, Sunshine Cleaning) is composing the show’s original score. Jóhann Jóhannsson passed away in Berlin this past Friday at age 48. The cause of death is unknown. The composer won the Golden Globe and received Oscar, BAFTA and Grammy nominations for his score for James Marsh’s The Theory of Everything. The following year, he won received an Oscar and BAFTA nomination for his music for Denis Villeneuve’s Sicario and also saw the release of Villeneuve’s Arrival, for which he received Golden Globe, BAFTA and Grammy nominations. He most recently collaborated with director Darren Aronofsky on mother!.
Expected to top the weekend box office is the drama Fifty Shades Freed directed by James Foley and starring Dakota Johnson, Jamie Dornan, Arielle Kebbel, Kim Basinger, Brant Daugherty and Luke Grimes. Rob Simonsen has recently composed the music for the upcoming supernatural drama Fast Color. The film is directed by Julia Hart and stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Lorraine Toussaint, Saniyya Sidney, Christopher Denham and David Strathairn. The movie revolves around a woman who is forced to go on the run when her extraordinary abilities are discovered. Hart also co-wrote the screenplay with Jordan Horowitz (La La Land, The Kids Are All Right) who is producing the project with Mickey Liddell (Jackie, The Grey, Go) and Pete Shilaimon (Megan Leavey, Risen).
