Christopher Lennertz has been hired to score the upcoming comedy Uncle Drew. The film is directed by Charles Stone III (Drumline, Mr 3000) and stars Kyrie Irving, Lil Rel Howery, Shaquille O’Neal, Reggie Miller, Nate Robinson, Chris Webber, Erica Ash, Lisa Leslie, Tiffany Haddish and Nick Kroll.  The movies follows a basketball player who struggles financially after entering a team in a tournament in Harlem and enlists the help of basketball legend Uncle Drew and urges him to return to the court once again to win the coveted championship.  Read the rest of this entry »

Arthur B. Rubinstein has passed away yesterday, April 23, at age 80. The composer is best known for his work on numerous films directed by John Badham, including the 1983 classic WarGames, 1983’s Blue Thunder starring Roy Scheider, 1987’s StakeOut starring Richard Dreyfuss & Emilio Estevez and its 1993 sequel, 1991’s The Hard Way starring Michael J. Benjamin Wallfisch has composed the music for DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming short Bilby. The film written and directed by Pierre Perifel, JP Sans & Liron Topaz is set in Australia’s Outback and follows the title character who finds himself an unwitting protector, and unexpected friend, to a helpless baby bird. Joseph Trapanese (Oblivion, Straight Outta Compton, Insurgent) has recently recorded his score for the upcoming action adventure Robin Hood. The film is directed by Otto Barhurst (Peaky Blinders) and stars Taron Egerton in the title role, Jamie Foxx as Little John, Eve Hewson as Maid Marian, Ben Mendelsohn as the as well as the Sheriff of Nottingham, as well as Jamie Dornan, Paul Anderson and Tim Minchin. The movie tells the origin story of Robin Hood being a war-hardened crusader and joining with a Moorish commander in an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown. Academy Announces Rule Change in Music Categories

The Academy’s Board of Governors has approved Oscars rules and campaign regulations for the 91st Academy Awards, including a change in the music categories, where “all members of the Music Branch will view films eligible for Original Score and film clips of eligible Original Songs and vote in a preliminary round to produce a shortlist of 15 titles in each category using the preferential voting system. Five nominees for Original Score and five nominees for Original Song will then be chosen by branch members in a second round of balloting also using preferential voting.” Read the rest of this entry »

The show is created by Stephen Mangan & Robert Delamere based on Showtime’s Web Therapy and stars Mangan himself, David Tennant, Charles Dance, Richard E. 22D Music will release a soundtrack album for the French/Japanese animated feature Mutafukaz. The album features the film’s original music composed by The Toxic Avenger and Guillaume Houzé (Wakfu). The soundtrack will be released digitally on May 23, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The first track, Luna, is already available to download. Mutafukaz is directed by Guillaume Renard & Shoujirou Nishimi and revolves around a deadbeat living in Dark Meat City, a ruthless megalopolis of California, who starts experiencing violent headaches doubled with strange hallucinations as he slowly awakens to the truth of his origins. M83 have announced that they have composed the music for the upcoming French thriller Knife + Heart (Un couteau dans le coeur). The film is directed by Yann Gonzalez and stars Vanessa Paradis, Kate Moran and Nicolas Maury. The movie is set in 1970s Paris and follows a porn producer who decides to make a more ambitious film. Charles Gillibert (On the Road, Clouds of Sils Maria, Mustang) is producing the project.
