Composer Tyler Bates (Guardians of the Galaxy, Deadpool 2, John Wick, 300, The Punisher, Watchmen) is reteaming with Genndy Tartakovsky on the upcoming Adult Swim animated series Primal. he is co-scoring the project with Joanne Higginbottom. The show revolves around a caveman at the dawn of evolution and a dinosaur on the brink of extinction who become the only hope of survival in a violent, primordial world. Two new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this week:

Already playing in theaters since this past Tuesday is Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: Far from Home directed by Jon Watts and starring Tom Holland, Samuel L. Jackson, Zendaya, Cobie Smulders, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei and Jake Gyllenhaal. The film’s original music composed by Michael Giacchino (UpStar TrekJurassic World,  LostThe IncrediblesRogue One: A Star Wars Story). Playing in theaters since this past Wednesday is the horror movie Midsommar written and directed by Ari Aster and starring Florence Pugh, Jack Reynor, William Jackson Harper, Vilhelm Blomgran, Archie Madekwe, Ellora Torchia and Will Poulter. Bobby Krlic (aka The Haxan Cloak) (Triple 9Seven SecondsShooter) has composed the film’s original music. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album for the National Geographic documentary Apollo: Missions to the Moon. The album features the film’s original music composed by James Everingham for Bleeding Fingers Music and produced by Hans Zimmer & Russell Emanuel. Apollo: Missions to the Moon is directed by Tom Jennings (Challenger Disaster: Lost Tapes, Diana: In Her Own Words) and recounts the United States’ remarkable journey to land on the Moon before 1970. The movie covers the Apollo Space Program with raw media, eschewing narration for footage and audio of the program, including samples of never-before-audio pulled from over 800 hours of recordings and Apollo black box recordings. Little Twig Records has announced a soundtrack album for the HBO documentary I Love You, Now Die: The Commonwealth v. Michelle Carter. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ian Hultquist (Assassination Nation, A-X-L, Animals, My Blind Brother, The Gospel According to André). The soundtrack will be released digitally on July 12, 2019 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon and iTunes. Cities of Last Thing is directed by Ho Wi Ding and stars Jack Kao, Li Hong-Chi, Louise Grinber, Ding Ning, Stone, Huang Lu, Liu Rui-Chi, Hsin Yin, Liu Juei-Chi and Shin Yin. EuropaCorp will release the official soundtrack album for Luc Besson’s action thriller Anna. The album features the film’s original music composed by Eric Serra (Leon: The ProfessionalThe Fifth ElementGoldenEyeLa Femme NikitaLucy, The Big Blue). Also included is Beauty Freak’s song My Beauty. The soundtrack will be released overseas digitally next Wednesday, July 10 and physically a few days later. A domestic release is set for July 19 (click here to download the album). Anna is written and directed by Besson and stars Sasha Luss, Luke Evans, Cillian Murphy and Helen Mirren. Lakeshore Records will release a new soundtrack album for the CBS All Access original series Star Trek: Discovery. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s second season composed by Emmy Award winner Jeff Russo (Fargo, Legion, The Night Of, The Act, Mile 22, Counterpart). Also included are three tracks from Russo’s score for Short Treks. The soundtrack will be released digitally on July 19 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Lakeshore Records will release a score album for the comedy drama Fighting with My Family. The album features the film’s original music composed by Vik Sharma (Hello Ladies) who collaborated with Blur guitarist Graham Coxon on his score. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, July 5 and will be available to download here. Kylie Minogue and the English indie rock band The Vaccines have collaborated on an original song for Aardman’s upcoming animated feature A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon. The song, entitled Lazy, is also featured in the film’s latest trailer, which can be checked out after the jump. The movie directed by Will Becher & Richard Phelan follows Shaun and his flock after discovering a little alien with amazing powers who is stranded at the Mossy Bottom Farm, as they try and protect her from a sinister organization and attempt to send her home before an alien invasion.  Read the rest of this entry »
