Premiering in the U.S. tomorrow, March 23 is the Australian mystery drama Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears directed by Tony Tilse and starring Essie Davis, Nathan Page, Miriam Margolyes, Ashleigh Cummings, Hugo Johnstone-Burt, Rupert Penry-Jones, Daniel Lapaine and Jacqueline McKenzie. The film’s original music is composed by Greg J Walker (Newton’s Law) who is also the composer of the Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries TV series. LilliPilli IP has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last month when the movie was released in Australia. Premiering on Tuesday, March 24, is the NBC drama Council of Dads created by Joan Rater & Tony Phelan and starring Sarah Wayne Callies, Clive Standen, J. August Richards, Michael O’Neill, Michelle Weaver, Steven Silver, Emjay Anthony, Thalia Tran and Blue Chapman. Fil Eisler (Revenge, Empire, How to Be Single, UnReal, Proud Mary, CHiPs, Life of the Party) is composing the show’s original music. The album features the film’s original music composed by James Griffiths (68 Kill, Lancaster Skies, Dogged, The Drift). As there are currently no new major movies opening in theaters, the weekly film music roundup will feature notable titles that were set to receive a theatrical release and are instead being released on VOD over the next couple of weeks. Movies that are premiering exclusively on streaming services will keep being included in our weekly TV music roundup every Sunday.
Opening on VOD following its debut on DirecTV last month is the drama Human Capital directed by Marc Meyers, written by Oren Moverman and starring Liev Schreiber, Marisa Tomei, Peter Sarsgaard, Maya Hawke, Alex Wolff, Paul Sparks, Aasif Mandvi and Fred Hechinger. The film’s original music is composed by Marcelo Zarvos (Wonder, Fences, The Good Shepherd, The Affair, Ray Donovan, Enough Said). No word on a soundtrack release. Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album for the new Disney Junior original series Mira, Royal Detective. The album features the original songs from the show written by Matthew Tishler (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) and Jeannie Lurie (The Muppets), including the theme song, as well as Mira’s signature song We’re on the Case, which is arranged by series music consultant Deepak Ramapriyan.
