WaterTower Music will release the official soundtrack album for the comedy An American Pickle. The album features the film’s original music written by Michael Giacchino (Up, Star Trek, Lost, Ratatouille, Jurassic World, Doctor Strange, The Incredibles) who has provided the original themes and Nami Melumad (Absentia) who has composed the original score. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, August 7 and will be available to stream/download here. An American Pickle is directed by Brandon Trost and stars Seth Rogen, Maya Erskine, Jorma Taccone and Sarah Snook. The movie is based on Simon Rich’s New Yorker novella and tells the story of a struggling laborer who immigrates to America in 1920 with dreams of building a better life for his beloved family. Billy Goldenberg has passed away at age 84. The composer wrote dozens of scores for film and television between the late 60s and late 90s. His best known works include the first theme for Kojak, his scores for seven episodes of Columbo, Herbert Ross’ 1975 feature The Last of Sheila, Michael Schultz’s 1979 comedy Scavenger Hunt, and the themes for the CBS comedy Rhoda, the ABC western Alias Smith and Jones and the NBC drama Our House. He collaborated with Steven Spielberg on two of the director’s early projects, Night Gallery and Duel, and later scored several episodes of the Spielberg-produced anthology series Amazing Stories. Throughout his career, he received over 20 Primetime Emmy Award nominations and won the award multiple times for the 1974/75 mini-series The Lives of Benjamin Franklin, the 1978 Martin Luther King Jr. biographical mini-series King and the TV movies Queen of the Stardust Ballroom and Rage of Angels. La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1995 fantasy comedy drama Casper directed by Brad Silberling and starring Christina Ricci, Bill Pullman, Cathy Moriarty, Eric Idle and Amy Brenneman featuring the music from the Amblin Entertainment production composed and conducted by Academy Award winner James Horner (Titanic, Avatar, Braveheart, Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, Aliens, Field of Dreams). The 2-CD set featured the composer’s expanded score, including previously unreleased music, on the first disc, and a remastered version of the original 1995 soundtrack album on the second disc.
