Joyful Noise Recordings has released a soundtrack album for the Apple TV+ original series Stillwater. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s first season composed by Kishi Bashi and Toby Chu (BaoUnforgettable, Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return, Covert Affairs). Also included is Bashi’s theme song Never Ending Dream, which has already been released as a digital single last month. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and other digital music stores. Stillwater is developed by Rob Hoegee based on Jon J Muth’s Caldecott Honor Children’s book series and stars James Sie, Judah MackeyEva Binder and Tucker Chandler. Composer Tom Holkenborg (aka Junkie XL) (Deadpool, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Alita: Battle Angel, DivergentBlack Mass) is set to reteam with director George Miller (Mad Max, Babe, Happy Feet) on the upcoming romantic fantasy drama Three Thousand Years of Longing. The film stars Tilda Swinton and Idris Elba. No plot details have been announced yet. Doug Mitchell (Dead Calm, Lorenzo’s Oil) is producing the project. Howe Records will release a soundtrack album for the drama Funny Boy. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Howard Shore (The Lord of the Rings, The Silence of the Lambs, The Aviator, Hugo, The Hobbit, Ed Wood, Mrs. Doubtfire). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, December 10 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and other digital music stores. Funny Boy is co-written and directed by Deepa Mehta and stars Brandon Ingram, Nimmi Harasgama, Ali Kazmi, Rehan Mudannayake, Agam Darshi, Shivantha Wijesinha, Arush Nand, Ruvin De Silva, Hidaayath Hazeer and Seema Biswas. The movie based on the best-selling Canadian novel of the same title by Shyam Selvadurai is set in Sri Lanka in the 1970’s and 80’s and explores the awakening of sexual identity by a young boy and chronicles his struggle to find balance and self-love despite the absence of empathy and understanding. The show is written by Nick Stevens (In Plain Sight) based on the true crime book Catching the Bullseye Killer by Steve Wilkins & Jonathan Hill and stars Luke Evans, Keith Allen, Owen Teale, Alexandria Riley, Caroline Berry, Oliver Ryan and David Fynn. The 3-part series directed by Marc Evans (Snow Cake, Hunky Dory) revolves around two unsolved double murders from the 1980s that cast a shadow over the work of the Dyfed Powys police force. Quartet Records has announced the world premiere recording of the previously unreleased score for the 1972 horror mystery drama Endless Night directed by Sidney Gilliat, based on Agatha Christie’s novel of the same title and starring Hayley Mills, Britt Ekland, Hywel Bennett, Per Oscarsson and George Sanders. Reconstructed from the original manuscript by the film’s composer Bernard Herrmann (PsychoVertigoTaxi Driver, Cape Fear, North by Northwest), the music is performed by the Basque National Orchestra and conducted by Fernando Velázquez (The ImpossibleMamaA Monster Calls), with original Moog synthesizer sessions played by Toni Saigi. Visit the label’s official website for the full album details, to check out audio samples and to order the CD. Quartet Records has announced a number of new soundtracks, including a new album for the 1969 drama Midnight Cowboy directed by John Schlesinger and starring Jon Voight and Dustin Hoffman. John Barry (Goldfinger, Dances with Wolves, Out of Africa) who is credited as the film’s music supervisor composed a series of original cues and supervised the entire musical concept of the project. Everybody’s Talkin’ written by Fred Neil was selected as a main theme for the movie and was newly recorded with arrangements by George Tipton and performed by Harry Nilsson. The 2-CD set features a remastered version of the original soundtrack album, as well as alternate song versions on the first disc and the complete music (both songs and score) as it appears in the film on the second disc.
