Sony Classical has released a digital version of the soundtrack album for the Academy Award-winning 1982 epic Gandhi directed by Richard Attenborough and starring Ben Kingsley, Candice Bergen, Edward Fox, John Gielgud, John Mills, Trevor Howard and Martin Sheen. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ravi Shankar (Apu Trilogy, Charyly) and George Fenton (Dangerous Liaisons, The Blue Planet, Anna and the King, Groundhog Day, Hitch, Ever After) who received their first Academy Award nomination for their score. ‘Chaplin’ 30th Anniversary Edition Soundtrack Album Announced
La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1992 biographical drama Chaplin directed by Richard Attenborough and starring Robert Downey Jr., Marisa Tomei, Dan Aykroyd, Geraldine Chaplin, Penelope Ann Miller and Kevin Kline. The album features the film’s expanded and remastered Academy Award-nominated original score composed and conducted by John Barry (Dances with Wolves, Out of Africa, Goldfinger, The Man with the Golden Gun, Somewhere in Time, Body Heat) and performed by the English Chamber Orchestra, including previously unreleased music. The CD, which is limited to 3,000 copies, will be available to order on the label’s official website at noon today.
Expanded ‘Midnight Cowboy’, ‘The Good, the Bad and the Ugly’ & ‘A Bridge Too Far’ Soundtracks Announced
Quartet Records has announced a number of new soundtracks, including a new album for the 1969 drama Midnight Cowboy directed by John Schlesinger and starring Jon Voight and Dustin Hoffman. John Barry (Goldfinger, Dances with Wolves, Out of Africa) who is credited as the film’s music supervisor composed a series of original cues and supervised the entire musical concept of the project. Everybody’s Talkin’ written by Fred Neil was selected as a main theme for the movie and was newly recorded with arrangements by George Tipton and performed by Harry Nilsson. The 2-CD set features a remastered version of the original soundtrack album, as well as alternate song versions on the first disc and the complete music (both songs and score) as it appears in the film on the second disc.
