Premiering on Thursday, July 10, is the Disney Channel original movie Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires directed by Paul Hoen and starring Milo Manheim, Meg Donnelly, Freya Skye, Kylee Russell, Malachi Barton, Chandler Kinney, Swayam Bhatia, Julian Lerner, Mekonnen Knife, Lisa Chappell and Jonno Roberts. The film’s original score is composed by Tom Howe (Ted Lasso, Dog Man, Knuckles, Daisy Jones & the Six, Shrinking, Early Man). Walt Disney Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the sequel and a score suite on Thursday. Also premiering on Thursday is the Netflix original anime series Leviathan based on Scott Westerfeld’s novels and starring Ayumu Murase, Natsumi Fujiwara, Shunsuke Sakuya, Mie Sonozaki, Yasuhiro Mamiya, Ivan Shibata and Fairouz Ai. Nobuko Toda and Kazuma Jinnouchi (Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, Metal Gear Solid 4) have composed the show’s original score. Joe Hisaishi (Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, The Boy and the Heron) has written the project’s original songs. A soundtrack album will be announced soon. Opening in theaters nationwide this week is the sci-fi/action adventure Jurassic World Rebirth directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Rupert Friend, Luna Blaise, Philippine Velge, David Iacono, Ed Skrein and Bechir Sylvain. The film’s original music is composed by Alexandre Desplat (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Shape of Water, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The King’s Speech, Godzilla, The Queen). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score this past Wednesday. Opening in around 300 theaters this week is the Canadian post-apocalyptic thriller 40 Acres co-written and directed by R.T. Thorne and starring Danielle Deadwyler, Michael Greyeyes, Kataem O’Connor, Leenah Robinson, Elizabeth Saunders, Milcania Diaz-Rojas, Jaeda LeBlanc, Haile Amare and Tyrone Benskin. Todor Kobakov (Born to Be Blue, Backstabbing for Beginners, The Samaritan, Most Dangerous Game, Tricksters, Sweetness in the Belly) has composed the film’s original music. Mark Snow passed away today at age 78 at his home in Connecticut. The composer, best known for his theme and score from the Fox mystery series The X-Files, wrote numerous scores for film and television over the last five decades. He earned six Emmy Award nominations for his music from The X-Files and received nine other Emmy nominations for the television movies Something About Amelia, The Last Capone, An American Story, Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All, Helter Skelter, the miniseries Children of the Dust, as well as UPN’s Nowhere Man and CBS’ Ghost Whisperer. His other TV scoring credits include The WB’s Smallville & Birds of Prey, Fox’s Millennium, Harsh Realm & The Lone Gunmen and CBS’ Blue Bloods, which finished its series run last year.
