Obscura Editions has released a soundtrack album for the erotic thriller Pretty Thing. The album features the film’s original music composed by Tim Kvasnosky (JT LeRoy, King Cobra, Welcome the Stranger, I Am Michael). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and most other major digital music services. Also listen to the composer’s “intro” and end credits track after the jump. Pretty Thing is directed by Justin Kelly and stars Alicia Silverstone, Karl Glusman, Catherine Curtin and Tammy Blanchard. The movie revolves around a pharmaceuticals executive who begins an affair with a younger man, but their whirlwind romance turns dark as he starts stalking her at work and threatening her at home.

Opening in theaters nationwide this week is the sci-fi/action adventure Jurassic World Rebirth directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Rupert Friend, Luna Blaise, Philippine Velge, David Iacono, Ed Skrein and Bechir Sylvain. The film’s original music is composed by Alexandre Desplat (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Shape of Water, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The King’s Speech, Godzilla, The Queen). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score this past Wednesday. Opening in around 300 theaters this week is the Canadian post-apocalyptic thriller 40 Acres co-written and directed by R.T. Thorne and starring Danielle Deadwyler, Michael Greyeyes, Kataem O’Connor, Leenah Robinson, Elizabeth Saunders, Milcania Diaz-Rojas, Jaeda LeBlanc, Haile Amare and Tyrone Benskin. Todor Kobakov (Born to Be Blue, Backstabbing for Beginners, The Samaritan, Most Dangerous Game, Tricksters, Sweetness in the Belly) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced. Opening in limited release is the biographical drama The White Crow directed by Ralph Fiennes and starring Fiennes himself, Oleg Ivenko, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Sergei Polunin, Chulpan Khamatova and Louis Hofmann. Ilan Eshkeri (Stardust, Layer Cake, Still Alice, Kick-Ass, Johnny English Reborn) has composed the film’s original score and also arranged ballet compositions by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Alexander Krein & Ludwig Minkus. Tim Kvasnosky Scoring Justin Kelly’s ‘JT Leroy’
Composer Tim Kvasnosky is reteaming with director Justin Kelly on the upcoming biographical drama JT Leroy. The film is written and directed by Kelly and stars Kristen Stewart, Jim Sturgess, Laura Dern, Diane Kruger, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Courtney Love and James Jagger. The movie tells the true story of a pair of woman who created the persona of a boy-wonder author, fooling the literary community, the fashion world, and the Hollywood elite for six years before the hoax was finally revealed.

Opening in limited release is the documentary Gimme Danger directed by Jim Jarmusch about the rock-n-roll band The Stooges. The movie doesn’t feature any original score and no soundtrack album has been released. The film recounts the hard-rocking history of Iggy Pop and The Stooges, who burst out of Michigan in the late ’60s with a savage and endlessly influential fusion of rock, blues, R&B, and free jazz. The documentary premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and is being released by Magnolia Pictures and Amazon Studios. Visit the official movie website for more information.
