Mondo has announced a new soundtrack release for Cameron Crowe’s 1989 comedy drama Say Anything… starring John Cusack, Ione Skye, John Mahoney, Lili Taylor, Polly Platt and Bebe Neuwirth. The double LP features the content of the original soundtrack album (released by Columbia Records) on the first disc, as well as previously unreleased demos and material, including long lost demo recordings of the Joe Lies songs as performed by Nancy Wilson for actress Lili Taylor, on the second disc. Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi has composed the original music for the upcoming action thriller Without Remorse. The film is directed by Stefano Sollima (Sicario: Day of the Soldado) and stars Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Bell, Jodie Turner-Smith, Luke Mitchell, Jacob Scipio, Cam Gigandet, Jack Kesy, Todd Lasance and Brett Gelman. The movie is based on the novel of the same title by Tom Clancy and follows U.S. Navy SEAL John Clark as he tries to exact vengeance for his wife’s murder, only to find himself inside a larger conspiracy. Perceval Press has released a soundtrack album for the drama Falling. The album features the original music from the film composed by director/lead actor Viggo Mortensen who collaborated with Buckethead on several tracks. Also included is Skating Polly’s song A Little Late. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here, where you can also check out audio samples. Falling is written and directed by Mortensen who made his directorial debut on the project and also stars Lance Henriksen, Terry Chen, Hannah Gross, Sverrir Gudnason, Laura Linney and Bracken Burns.  The movie follows a man who lives with his partner and their adopted daughter in Southern California, far from the traditional rural life he left behind years ago, when he gets a visit from his conservative and aging father who is searching for a place to retire. Guillaume Roussel (3 Days to Kill, Black Beauty, Happy!The SpyThe Man with the Iron Heart) has been tapped to score the upcoming French period thriller The Colors of Fire (Couleurs de l’incendie). The film is directed by Clovis Cornillac (Belle and Sebastian, Friends for Life) and stars Lea Drucker, Benoit Poelvoorde, Olivier Gourmet, Alice Isaaz, as well as Cornillac himself. The movie based on the best-selling novel by Pierre Lemaitre is set in Paris in the 1920s and tells the story of a woman who takes revenge after she misses out on inheriting the financial empire of her father after his death.  Read the rest of this entry »

Premiering in the U.S. tonight is the British mini-series The Long Song created by Andrea Levy, directed by Mahalia Belo and starring Tamara Lawrance, Hayley Atwell, Jack Lowden, Jordan Bolger, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Gordon Brown, Ayesha Antoine, Leo Bill, Sir Lenny Henry and Madeleine Mantock. The show’s original music is written by late composer Jonathan Rhys Hill (The Trial of Christine Keeler). The 5-part drama, which centers on an indomitable, young slave who works on a sugarcane plantation with her detestable mistress, premiered in the UK in 2018 on BBC One and is making its domestic debut as part of PBS’ Masterpiece series.

Premiering in the U.S. tomorrow, February 1, is the Scandinavian limited series The Investigation directed by Tobias Lindholm and starring Søren Malling, Pilou Asbæk, Pernilla August, Rolf Lassgård, Laura Christensen, Anders Juul, Henrik Birch, Hans Henrik Clemensen, Dulfi Al-Jabouri and Charlotte Munck. Rune Tonsgaard Sørensen (Before the Frost) has composed the show’s original music. The 6-part drama, which explores the complex real-life investigation surrounding the 2017 murder of Swedish journalist Kim Wall, one of the most notorious criminal cases in Danish media history, is making its U.S. debut on HBO and will also be available to stream on HBO Max. The album features selection of the original music from the show’s second season composed by Trevor Gureckis (The GoldfinchBloodline). Milan Records will release the official soundtrack album for the Amazon original movie Bliss. The album features the film’s original music composed by Will Bates (UnbelievableAwayThe MagiciansI Origins, The Path, The Looming Tower, Another Earth).  Also included is the original song You And I written by Bates and featuring vocals by Skye Edwards of Morcheeba (click here to stream/download the track and check out the official music video after the jump). The soundtrack will be released digitally on February 5 and is now available for pre-order here. Bliss is written and directed by Mike Cahill and stars Salma Hayek, Owen Wilson, Madeline Zima, Nesta Cooper and Joshua Leonard.
