Hans Zimmer to Compose Main Theme for Nat Geo’s ‘Saints & Strangers’

National Geographic Channel announced at a panel yesterday at the Television Critics Association summer tour that Hans Zimmer will be composing the main theme for network’s upcoming event series Saints & Strangers. The score will be composed by Bleeding Fingers Music, a collaboration between Zimmer and Extreme Music. Saints & Strangers is created by Eric Overmyer (Bosch, Treme, The Affair) and tells the story behind the founding of America, chronicling the trials and tribulations of the 101 men, women and children who boarded the Mayflower for a one-way trip to the New World in 1620.

Bear McCreary to Score A&E’s ‘Damien’

damienBear McCreary has been tapped to score the upcoming A&E original series Damien. The show is created by Glen Mazzaro and stars Bradley James, Barbara Hershey, Omid Abtahi and Meganlyn Echikunwoke. The drama is a follow-up to the classic 1976 feature The Omen and centers on Damien Thorn, the mysterious child from the film who has grown up seemingly unaware of the satanic forces around him and must now come to terms with his true destiny — that he is the Antichrist. Mazzaro is also executive producing the Fox 21 Television Studios production with Ross Fineman (Lights Out) and Pancho Mansfield.

Jeff Cardoni to Score Fox’s ‘Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life’

The show is created by Jay Lacopo (The Third Wheel) and stars Jack Cutmore-Scott, Meaghan Rath, Charlie Saxton, James Earl, Justin Bartha and Maureen Sebastian. The series follows a group of friends post-college who are still trying to figure out what life is all about. Lacopo is also executive producing the 20th Century Fox Television production with Gail Berman (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Jeff Morton (Modern Family).

descendantsPremiering on Friday, July 31 is the Disney Channel original movie Descendants directed and executive produced by Kenny Ortega and starring Dove Cameron, Cameron Boyce, Booboo Stewart, Sofia Carson, Mitchell Hope, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Maz Jobrani, Kathy Najimy and Kristin Chenoweth. David Lawrence (American Pie, High School Musical) has composed the film’s original score. Walt Disney Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film on Friday. Soundtrack for FX’s ‘Tyrant’ Released

tyrant20th Century Fox Television Records has released a soundtrack album for the FX original series Tyrant. The album features selections from the film’s Emmy Award-nominated original score composed by Academy Award winner Mychael Danna (Life of Pi, Moneyball, Capote) and Jeff Danna (The Boondock Saints, Silent Hill), including the Emmy-nominated main titles theme. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Tyrant is created by Gideon Raff and stars Adam Rayner, Jennifer Finnigan, Ashraf Barhom, Noah Silver, Moran Atias, Anne Winters, Salim Daw, Justin Kirk, Fares Fares, Jordana Spiro, Mehdi Dehbi and Alice Krige.

Ben Decter to Score ABC Family’s ‘Shadowhunters’

The show is based on the bestselling young adult fantasy book series The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare and follows an 18-year-old girl who finds out on her birthday that she is not who she thinks she is but rather comes from a long line of Shadowhunters – human-angel hybrids who hunt down demons. The Constantin Film production stars Katherine McNamara, Dominic Sherwood, Alberto Rosende, Emeraude Toubia, Matthew Daddario, Isaiah Mustafa, David Castro and Harry Shum Jr.

Soundtrack Details for Syfy’s ‘Helix’ Announced

helixLa-La Land Records has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the Syfy original series Helix. The album features selections from the original score from the show’s two seasons composed by Reinhold Heil (One Hour Photo, Cloud Atlas, Run Lola Run, Legends, The International). The label will release the album as a 2 CD-set, which is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Also visit La-La Land’s website to check out audio clips. Madison Gate Records will release the album digitally. Helix is created by Cameron Porsandeh and stars Billy Campbell, Hiroyuki Sanada, Kyra Zagorsky, Jordan Hayes, Catherine Lemieux, Neil Napier and Mark Ghanime. The show about a team of scientists from the Centers for Disease Control who travel to a high-tech research facility in the Arctic to investigate a possible disease outbreak premiered last year on Syfy and a second season aired earlier this year.
