Rael Jones is composing the original score for the new Hulu original series Harlots. The show is created by Moira Buffini (Jane Eyre, Tamara Drewe) & Alison Newman and stars Samantha Morton, Jessica Brown Findlay, Eloise Smyth and Lesley Manville. The drama is set in 18th century London and centers on a woman who struggles to reconcile her roles as brothel owner and mother to her daughters. Buffini and Newman are also executive producing the project with Alison Owen (Elizabeth, Saving Mr. Banks), Debra Hayward (Les Miserables, Bridget Jones’s Baby) and Alison Carpenter.

‘Fortitude’ Soundtrack Announced
Mute will release a soundtrack album for the Sky Atlantic drama Fortitude. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Ben Frost (Sleeping Beauty, The Deep). The soundtrack will be released digitally on March 17, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A CD version will also be released overseas. Fortitude is created by Simon Donald and stars Richard Dormer, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson, Mia Jexen, Alexandra Moen, Sienna Guillory, Luke Treadaway, Nicholas Pinnock, Jessica Raine, Christopher Eccleston, Stanley Tucci, Michael Gambon and Dennis Quaid. The serie centers on how a violent murder of a research scientist affects a close-knit community with the unsettling horror threatening the future of the town itself.
Weekly TV Music Roundup (March 12, 2017)
Premiering tomorrow, March 13, is the documentary Cries from Syria directed by Evgeny Afineevsky. The film’s original music is composed by Martin Tillman (The Ring Two, Last Knights). Diane Warren contributed the original song Prayers for this World, which is performed by Cher and The West Los Angeles Children’s Choir. The movie explores the humanitarian crisis in Syria and the devastating civil war that has defined the country over the last five years. Premiering on Tuesday, March 14, is the new NBC comedy Trial & Error created by Jeff Astrof & Matt Miller and starring John Lithgow, Nick D’Agosto, Steven Boyer, Sherri Shepherd, Jayma Mays and Krysta Rodriguez. Amazon’s ‘The New V.I.P.’s’ to Feature Music by Jeff Cardoni
Jeff Cardoni has composed the music for the Amazon Studios pilot The New V.I.P.’s. The show is created by Steve Dildarian (The Life & Times of Tim) and features the voices of Matt Braunger, Ben Schwartz, Missi Pyle and Jonathan Adams. The animated comedy centers on a group of low-level employees who seize control of a major corporation after accidently murdering their boss. Peter Principato (Central Intelligence, Keanu, Married) is producing the project with Titmouse’s Ben Kalina and Dave Newberg.
Craig Wedren to Score Netflix’s ‘GLOW’
Craig Wedren has signed on to score the upcoming Netflix original series GLOW. The show is created by Liz Flahive (Adult Beginners, Nurse Jackie) & Carly Mensch (Orange Is The New Black) and stars Alison Brie, Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, Marc Maron, Britney Young, Sydelle Noel, Britt Baron, Jackie Tohn, Kimmy Gatewood, Rebekka Johnson, Kate Nash, Sunita Mani and Kia Stevens. The comedy is set in 1980s Los Angeles and revolves around an unemployed actress who keeps her dream alive by portraying a female wrestler.
‘Life After Happily Ever After’ from ‘Tangled Before Ever After’ Released
Walt Disney Records has released the original song Life After Happily Ever After from the Disney Channel movie Tangled Before Ever After. The track is written by Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Enchanted, Tangled) & lyricist Glenn Slater (Galavant) and performed by Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi and Clancy Brown. Martin Phipps Scoring Amazon’s ‘Oasis’
Martin Phipps has composed the music for Amazon Studios pilot Oasis. The show is created by Matt Charman (Bridge of Spies) based on the novel The Book of Strange New Things by Michel Faber and stars Richard Madden, Anil Kapoor, Michael Shaw, Mark Addy, Haley Joel Osment, Maureen Sebastian, Michael Shaffer and Zawe Ashton. The drama centers on a chaplain who is sent into space to help establish a colony on a distant planet. Charman is also executive producing the Amazon Studios and Left Bank production with Andy Harries (The Queen, The Crown, The Damned United) and Lila Rawlings (Dark River).
Hulu’s ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ to Feature Music by Adam Taylor
Adam Taylor is composing the music for the upcoming Hulu original series The Handmaid’s Tale. The show is created by Bruce Miller (Alphas, The 100) and stars Elisabeth Moss, Samira Wiley, Joseph Fiennes and Alexis Bledel. The drama is based on the classic novel by Margaret Atwood and tells the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, an authoritarian theocracy that has supplanted the United States, where women are nothing more than wives, servants, or breeders, referred to as “handmaids.”
Marco Beltrami to Score Spike TV’s ‘Waco’
Marco Beltrami is set to compose the music for the upcoming Spike TV event mini-series Waco. The show is written by John Erick Dowdle (Quarantine, Devil) & Drew Dowdle and stars Michael Shannon and Taylor Kitsch. The 6-parter is based on the true story of the 1993 FBI siege of a religious sect in Waco, Texas that resulted in the deadly shoot out and fire. John Erick Dowdle is also directing the series. The Dowdle brothers are executive producing the Weinstein Television production with Shannon, Kitsch, Harvey Weinstein & Bob Weinstein, David Glasser, Jennifer Malloy and Megan Spanjian.
