Varese Sarabande has announced a new soundtrack album for the Golden Globe-winning 1989 mini-series Lonesome Dove directed by Simon Wincer and starring Robert Duvall, Tommy Lee Jones, Danny Glover, Diane Lane and Anjelica Huston. The album, which coincides with the series’ 30th anniversary, features the show’s original music composed and conducted by Basil Poledouris (Conan the Barbarian, Robocop, Free Willy, Starship Troopers) who received an Emmy Award for his work on the project, as well as a new exclusive track composed and performed by Zoë Poledouris and her husband Angel Roché, which uses her father’s timeless themes from the original score in tribute. The soundtrack will be released on CD and (for the first time) digitally on March 15 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon.

Daniel Hart to Score Netflix’s ‘The Society’
Daniel Hart (Pete’s Dragon, A Ghost Story, The Old Man and the Gun, Ain’t Them Bodies Saints) has been tapped to score the upcoming Netflix original series The Society. The show is created by Chris Keyser (The Last Tycoon, Tyrant, Party of Five) and stars Kathryn Newton, Rachel Keller, Gideon Adlon, Jacques Colimon, Olivia DeJonge, Alex Fitzalan, Kristine Froseth, Jose Julian, Natasha Liu Bordizzo and Alex MacNicoll.
Marco Beltrami & Brandon Roberts Scoring CBS All Access’ ‘The Twilight Zone’
Marco Beltrami (A Quiet Place, Scream, 3:10 to Yuma, World War Z) & Brandon Roberts (TURN: Washington’s Spies, The Woman in Black 2, Unbroken: Path to Redemption) are co-scoring the upcoming CBS All Access anthology series The Twilight Zone. The show based on the 1959 classic TV series of the same title created by Rod Sterling is hosted and narrated by Jordan Peele. Among the actors appearing in the show’s first season are Ike Barinholtz, John Cho, Taissa Farmiga, Ginnifer Goodwin, Percy Hynes-White, Greg Kinnear, Luke Kirby, Sanaa Lathan, Kumail Nanjiani, Adam Scott, Alison Tolman, Jacob Tremblay, DeWanda Wise and Steven Yeun.
‘Moominvalley’ Soundtrack Album Announced
Columbia Records will release a soundtrack album for the animated series Moominvalley. The album features the original songs from the show, including the theme song (I’m Far Away) by MØ (already available to download here), as well as tracks by artists such as Alma, Tom Odell, Josef Salvat, Delilah Montagu, Emilíana Torrini, Declan McKenna, dodie & others. The soundtrack will released on April 19 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Moominvalley is created by Marika Makaroff & Steve Box based on Tove Jansson’s classic Moomin books and features the voices of Taron Egerton, Rosamund Pike, Matt Berry, Bel Powley, Richard Ayoade, Akiya Henry, Warwick Davis and Kate Winslet.

Walter Mair Scoring Netflix’s ‘Formula 1: Drive to Survive’
Walter Mair (The Same Sky, Cuffs, Glue, Blood Orange) has recently scored the new Netflix original docu-series Formula 1: Drive to Survive. The show is executive produced by James Gay Rees (Amy, Senna), Paul Martin (Make Us Dream), & showrunner Sophie Todd and follows a group of drivers, managers and team owners during one cutthroat season of Formula 1 racing. The 10-parter shows each stage of the 2018 FIA Formula One World Championship, beginning in Melbourne and culminating at the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi.
‘Victoria’ Season 2 & 3 Soundtrack Released
Dubois Records has released a new soundtrack album for the ITV/PBS original series Victoria. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s second and third season composed by Ruth Barrett (Bodyguard, Harry Brown, Collateral, City of Tiny Lights). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. The label has previously released a soundtrack featuring Barrett’s & Martin Phipps’ score from the drama’s first season. Victoria is created by Daisy Goodwin and stars Jenna Coleman, Tom Hughes, Rufus Sewell, Alex Jennings and Peter Bowles.
Benjamin Wallfisch Scoring National Geographic’s ‘Hostile Planet’
Benjamin Wallfisch (It, Blade Runner 2049, Hidden Figures, Annabelle Creation) has recently recorded his music for the upcoming National Geographic docu-series Hostile Planet. The show is executive produced by Academy Award-winning cinematographer and director Guillermo Navarro (Pan’s Labyrinth) and draws attention to the most extraordinary accounts of animals that have adapted to the cruelest evolutionary curveballs. Each episode of the 6-parter hosted by Bear Grylls looks at animals surviving at the extremes of different environments, in mountains, oceans, grasslands, jungles, deserts, and polar regions.

Danny Bensi & Saunder Jurriaans (Boy Erased, Enemy, The Gift, Martha Marcy May Marlene) have been hired to score the upcoming AMC original series NOS4A2. The show is developed by Jami O’Brien based on Joe Hill’s bestselling novel of the same name and stars Ashleigh Cummings, Olafur Darri Olafsson, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Virginia Kull, Jahkara Smith and Zachary Quinto. The supernatural horror drama tells the story of a seductive immortal who feeds off the souls of children, then deposits what remains of them into Christmasland – an icy, twisted Christmas village of his imagination where every day is Christmas Day and unhappiness is against the law.
