Dhani Harrison & Paul Hicks (Beautiful Creatures, Learning to Drive, The Divide, Outsiders) have composed the original score for the new HBO docu-series The Case Against Adnan Syed. The 4-parter is directed by Amy Berg (West of Memphis, Deliver Us from Evil) and centers on the 1999 murder of 18-year-old Baltimore County high school student Hae Min Lee, and the subsequent conviction of her ex-boyfriend, Adnan Syed, a case brought to global attention by the hugely popular Serial podcast.

Craig Wedren & Anna Waronker Scoring Hulu’s ‘Shrill’
Craig Wedren (Wet Hot American Summer, Role Models, The School of Rock, How to Be a Latin Lover) & Anna Waronker are the composers of the upcoming Hulu original series Shrill. The show is based on Lindy West’s 2016 memoir Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman and stars Aidy Bryant, Lolly Adefope, Luka Jones, Ian Owens, Julia Sweeney and John Cameron Mitchell. The comedy centers on a fat young woman who wants to change her life – but not her body, and is trying to start her career while juggling bad boyfriends, a sick parent, and a perfectionist boss.
Hans Zimmer & Jacob Shea to Compose Theme and Score for BBC’s ‘One Planet, Seven Worlds’
BBC Studios has announced that Hans Zimmer and Jacob Shea will compose the theme and score for the upcoming BBC Earth natural history series One Planet, Seven Worlds. The show is presented and executive produced by Sir David Attenborough and will reveal how each distinct continent has shaped the unique animal life found there. Each of the series’ seven episodes will transport viewers to a single continent and tell the story of its spectacular wildlife and iconic landscapes.

Premiering on Friday, February 22 is the Netflix original movie Paddleton co-written and directed by Alex Lehmann and starring Mark Duplass, Ray Romano, Ravi Patel and Christine Woods. The film’s original music is composed by Julian Wass (Hit and Run, The Miseducation of Cameron Post, Room 104, Insatiable, The Overnight). Also premiering on Friday in the U.S. is the Spanish drama The Photographer of Mauthausen (El fotografo de Mauthausen) directed by Mar Targarona and starring Mario Casas, Richard van Weyden and Alain Hernández. Diego Navarro (Capture the Flag, Mimesis) has composed the film’s original music. Rosetta Records has released a soundtrack album last fall when the movie opened overseas. The movie, which follows a Catalán prisoner at a Nazi concentration camp who uses his office job to steal photo negatives of the atrocities committed there, will be available to stream stateside exclusively on Netflix.
Samuel Sim Scoring ITV’s ‘The Bay’
Samuel Sim (Awake, The Halcyon, Home Fires) is currently scoring the upcoming ITV original series The Bay. The show is created by Daragh Carville (Being Human, The Smoke) & Richard Clark and stars Morven Christie, Jonas Armstrong, Tracie Bennett, Lindsey Coulson, Chanel Cresswell, Louis Greatorex, Adam Long, Taheen Modak and Daniel Ryan. The 6-part drama is set in the coastal town of Morecambe Bay and centers on a female detective who is assigned to a missing persons investigation in the unique village.

Rayla’s ‘Just Wanna Go’ Theme Song from Disney Channel’s ‘Fast Layne’ Released
Walt Disney Records has released the theme song from the new Disney Channel original series Fast Layne. The song, entitled Just Wanna Go, is written by Jordan Powers & Jintae Ko and performed by Rayla. The track is now available to download as a digital single on Amazon. Also listen to the full song after the jump. Fast Layne is created by Travis Braun and stars Sophie Pollono, Sofia Rosinsky, Brandon Rossel and Winslow Fegley. The comedy follows a 12-year-old overachiever who finds her orderly life thrown into a tailspin when she discovers a sophisticated talking car named V.I.N. hidden in an abandoned shed.
Bear McCreary Scoring Fox’s ‘Proven Innocent’
Bear McCreary (10 Cloverfield Lane, The Walking Dead, Happy Death Day, Battlestar Galactica, Outlander) is the composer of the new Fox drama Proven Innocent. The show is created by David Elliot (Four Brothers, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) and stars Rachelle Lefevre, Russell Hornsby, Vincent Kartheiser, Riley Smith, Kelsey Grammer, Nikki M. James and Clare O’Connor. The series follows an underdog criminal defense firm led by a fierce and uncompromising lawyer who, earlier in her life, wass wrongfully convicted in a sensational murder case that made her an infamous media obsession, a household name and a national cause célèbre.
Nicholas Britell to Reteam with Barry Jenkins on Amazon’s ‘The Underground Railroad’
Nicholas Britell confirmed in recent interviews with Soundworks Collection and Deadline that he will be reteaming with director Barry Jenkins on the upcoming Amazon original limited series The Underground Railroad. The show is based on Colson Whitehead’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book of the same title and centers on a young slave on a cotton plantation in Georgia. When a recent arrival from Virginia tells her about the Underground Railroad, they decide to take a terrifying risk and escape. Jenkins will be directing all eleven episodes of the series. No casting announcements have been made yet.
Clint Mansell & Kevin Kiner Scoring DC Universe’s ‘Doom Patrol’
Clint Mansell (Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan, Moon, The Fountain) and Kevin Kiner (Star Wars Rebels, Narcos: Mexico, Star Wars: The Clone Wars) are the composers of the new DC Universe original series Doom Patrol. The show is developed by Jeremy Carver (Supernatural) based on the DC comics created by Arnold Drake, Bob Haney & Bruno Premiani and stars Matt Bomer, Brendan Fraser, April Bowlby, Diane Guerrero, Joivan Wade, Alan Tudyk and Timothy Dalton. The drama follows a group of outcast Super Heroes: Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Girl and Crazy Jane, led by modern-day mad scientist Dr. Niles Caulder (The Chief).
