Christophe Beck is the composer of the upcoming comedy Get Hard. The film marks the feature directorial debut of screenwriter Etan Cohen (Tropic Thunder, Men in Black 3, Idiocracy) and stars Will Ferrell, Kevin Hart, Alison Brie, Craig T. Nelson, Gary Owen and Jay Pharoah. The movie follows a rich, soft-handed investment bank manager who is sentenced to a maximum security prison and hires the streetwise guy who normally washes his car so he can learn how to survive his upcoming prison sentence. Jay Martel & Ian Roberts (Key and Peele) have written the screenplay with Cohen. Will Ferrell & Adam McKay (Anchorman, The Other Guys, Talladega Nights) and Chris Henchy are producing the project for their Gary Sanchez Productions company.
Cliff Martinez to Score Cary Fukunaga’s ‘Beasts of No Nation’
Cliff Martinez revealed in a recent interview with Celluloid Tunes during this year’s Ghent Film Festival that he is set to score the upcoming drama Beasts of No Nation. The film is written and directed by Cary Fukunaga and stars Idris Elba, Ama K. Abebrese, Grace Nortey, David Dontoh and Opeyemi Fagbohungbe. The movie is based on the novel of the same title by Nigerian author Uzodinma Iweala and follows the journey of a boy who is forced to join a group of soldiers in an unnamed West African country. Amy Kaufman (Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, Sin Nombre), Riva Marker & Daniela Taplin Lundberg (The Kids Are All Right, Grace Is Gone, What Maisie Knew) are producing the Participant Media and Red Crown production.
Saunder Jurriaans & Danny Bensi to Score ‘The Driftless Area’
Saunder Jurriaans and Danny Bensi have been tapped to score the upcoming indie romantic comedy drama The Driftless Area. The film is directed by Zachary Sluser and stars Zooey Deschanel, Anton Yelchin, John Hawkes, Aubrey Plaza, Frank Langella, Ciaran Hinds and Alia Shawkat. The movie is based on a novel by Tom Drury and centers on the relationship between a bartender who returns to his hometown after the death of his parents and a mysterious woman. Sluser and Drury have co-written the screenplay. Keith Kjarval (Rudderless, Trust Me) is producing the project for Unified Pictures, alongside Aaron L. Gilbert (A Single Shot, Welcome to Me) for Bron Studios.

Lorne Balfe has recently recorded his score for the upcoming comedy drama Dough. The film is directed by John Goldschmidt and stars Jonathan Pryce, Phil Davis, Ian Hart, Pauline Collins and Jerome Holder. The movie centers on the unlikely friendship between an old Jewish baker trying to save his family business and a young Muslim refugee from Darfur trying to help his mother by selling cannabis. Jez Freedman and Jonathan Benson have written the screenplay. Theo Green has recently co-scored the upcoming drama The Gambler. The film is directed by Rupert Wyatt (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) and stars Mark Wahlberg, John Goodman, Brie Larson, Michael K. Williams and Jessica Lange. The movie based on the 1974 film of the same title starring James Caan follows a college professor who gets caught up in the dangerous world of high-stakes underground gambling. William Monahan (The Departed) has written the screenplay. Wahlberg is also producing the Closest to the Hole and Leverage Entertainment production with Stephen Levinson (Contraband, Entourage, Irwin Winkler (Raging Bull, Goodfellas), Robert Chartoff (Rocky) & David Winkler (Rocky Balboa).

Mark Isham is composing the music for the upcoming fantasy romance Fallen. The film is directed by Scott Hicks (Shine, Snow Falling on Cedars, Hearts in Atlantis) and stars Addison Timlin, Jeremy Irvine, Harrison Gilbertson and Joely Richardson. The movie is based on the YA novel by Lauren Kate and follows a shy teen who is suspected of killing a boy and is sent to Sword and Cross reform school, where she is confronted by frequent supernatural occurrences and it becomes clear that the majority of students are fallen angels on the side of good or evil. Mark Ciardi & Gordon Gray (The Rookie, Million Dollar Arm) are producing the project for Mayhem Pictures, alongside Bill Johnson & Jim Seibel (The Women, Just Friends) for Lotus Entertainment.
David Hirschfelder to Score ‘The Dressmaker’
David Hirschfelder is set to score the upcoming period comedy The Dressmaker. The film is written and directed by Jocelyn Moorhouse and stars Kate Winslet, Judy Davis, Liam Hemsworth, Hugo Weaving, Caroline Goodall, Shane Bourne, Kerry Fox, Rebecca Gibney, Alison Whyte, Sacha Horler, Shane Jacobson, Genevieve Lemon and Sarah Snook. The movie based on the best-selling novel by Rosalie Ham is set in the 1950s and follows an avenging angel who returns home to the remote country town from which she escaped as a child after being accused of murder, to make amends with her eccentric mother. Sue Maslin (Japanese Story) is producing the project.
Alexandre Desplat to Score ‘Suffragette’
Alexandre Desplat is currently scoring the upcoming historical drama Suffragette. The film is directed by Sarah Gavron (Brick Lane) and stars Carey Mulligan, Meryl Streep, Helena Bonham Carter, Ben Whishaw, Brendan Gleeson, Romola Garai, Anne-Marie Duff and Samuel West. The movie takes place during the early days of the women’s suffrage movement in the U.K. and centers around the foot soldiers who were forced underground. Abi Morgan (The Iron Lady, Shame, The Invisible Woman) has written the screenplay. Faye Ward and Alison Owen (Saving Mr. Banks, Elizabeth, Jane Eyre) are producing the Ruby Films production.
Andrew Feltenstein & John Nau Scoring ‘Sleeping with Other People’
Andrew Feltenstein and John Nau are reteaming with director Leslye Headland on the upcoming comedy Sleeping with Other People. The film written and directed by Headland stars Jason Sudeikis, Alison Brie, Natasha Lyonne, Amanda Peet and Adam Scott. The movie follows a good-natured womanizer and a serial cheater who form a platonic relationship that helps reform them in ways, while a mutual attraction sets in. Will Ferrell & Adam McKay (Anchorman, Talladegga Nights, Step Brothers) are producing the project for Gary Sanchez Productions. Feltenstein and Nau have previously scored Headland’s previous feature Bachelorette. They have also scored films including Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues and Casa de mi padre for Gary Sanchez. Sleeping with Other People is expected to premiere in 2015.
