Lucas Vidal has been hired to score the upcoming drama Nobody Wants the Night. The film is directed by Isabel Coixet (Elegy, The Secret Life of Words, My Life Without Me) and stars Juliette Binoche, Rinko Kikuchi and Gabriel Byrne. The movie follows two women from two different worlds who are struggling to survive in one of the most inhospitable places on Earth in early 1900s Greenland and chronicles their long, tense wait for the same man they love. Miguel Barros (Blackthorn) has written the screenplay. Andrés Santana (Blackthorn) is producing the project with Antonia Nava (The Machinist, Transsiberia) for Aiete-Ariane Films.

James Horner Scoring ‘The 33’
This past week, James Horner recorded his music for the upcoming drama The 33 on the Newman Scoring Stage at 20th Century Fox Studios in Los Angeles. The movie is directed by Patricia Riggen (Under the Same Moon, Girl in Progress) and stars Antonio Banderas, Juliette Binoche, Rodrigo Santoro, Cote de Pablo, James Brolin, Gabriel Byrne, Oscar Nunez, Kate Del Castillo, Lou Diamond Phillips, Mario Casas, Juan Pablo Raba, Tenoch Huerta, Jacob Vargas, Marco Trevino and Alejandro Goic. The movie is based on the true events of the collapsed Copiapo copper mine and the 33 miners who remained trapped more than 2,000 feet underground. Mike Medavoy (Black Swan, Shutter Island, Zodiac) is producing the project for Phoenix Picutres, alongside Robert Katz (Law Abiding Citizen, The Rebound) and Edward McGurn.
‘D-Train’ to Feature Music by Fun.’s Andrew Dost
Andrew Dost is making his feature film scoring debut with the upcoming indie comedy D-Train. The film is written and directed by Andrew Mogel & Jarrad Paul (Yes Men, Allen Gregory) and stars Jack Black, James Marsden, Kathryn Hahn, Kyle Bornheimer and Adria Tennor. The movie follows a Middle America high school reunion committee chairman, still searching for high school acceptance, who has to do whatever it takes to get the most popular guy from high school to show up to their 20-year reunion. Mike White (The School of Rock, Orange County) & David Bernad (Enlightened, Magic Magic) are producing the project for RipCord Productions, alongside Black & Priyanka Mattoo for Electric Dynamite and Barnaby Thompson (Hope Springs, An Ideal Husband) & Ben Latham Jones for Ealing Studios.
Alec Puro to Score ‘Ashby’
Alec Puro has signed on to score the upcoming indie comedy drama Ashby. The film is written and directed by Tony McNamara (The Rage in Lake Placid) and stars Mickey Rourke, Nat Wolff, Emma Roberts, Sarah Silverman, Michael Lerner, Kevin Dunn and Zach Knighton. The movie centers on the relationship between two neighbors, a high school student and a retired CIA assassin who only has a few months left to live. Kevin McCormick (Gangster Squad, The Lucky One, Arthur) & Rory Koslow are producing the project for Langley Park Pictures, alongside Josh Kesselman (For a Good Time, Call…) for Tagline Pictures and Phil Hunt & Compton Ross for Head Gear Films.
Nathan Larson Scoring ‘The Wannabe’
Nathan Larson has recently scored the upcoming indie crime drama The Wannabe. The film is written and directed by Nick Sandow and stars Vincent Piazza, Patricia Arquette, Michael Imperioli, David Zayas and Doug E. Doug. The movie is in New York City during the early 1990s and follows a man obsessed with mob culture who attempts to fix the jury in the trial of John Gotti. Lizzie Nastro (Bluebird) is producing the project with Mike Gasparro are producing the Electric Entertainment production. Martin Scorsese (Goodfellas, The Wolf of Wall Street) and Dean Devlin (Independence Day, Stargate) are among the film’s executive producers.
Laurent Eyquem to Score Lifetime’s ‘The Red Tent’
Laurent Eyquem is currently scoring the upcoming Lifetime mini-series The Red Tent. The bible-themed drama is based on the best-selling novel by Anita Diamant and stars Minnie Driver, Morena Baccarin, Rebecca Ferguson, Iain Glen, Will Tudor and Debra Winger. The two-part series tells the story of Dinah, the daughter of Leah and Jacob, who was only referred to in small glimpses in the Old Testament. Roger Young (Lassiter, The Squeze) has directed the series from a script by Elizabeth Chandler (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, A Little Princess). Paula Weinstein (Blood Diamond, The Perfect Storm, Analyze This) is executive producing the Sony Pictures Television production.
Scott Walker to Score Brady Corbet’s ‘The Childhood of a Leader’
Singer/songwriter Scott Walker is set to score the upcoming indie drama The Childhood of a Leader. The project marks the directorial debut of actor Brady Corbet and stars Robert Pattinson, Tim Roth, Berenice Bejo and Stacy Martin. The movie is set in 1918 and tells the story of a young American living in France whose father is working for the US government on the creation of the Treaty of Versailles. Corbet has also written the screenplay with Mona Fastvold (The Sleepwalker). Helena Danielsson (Beyond), Chris Coen (Shadow Dancer, Funny Games, A Single Shot) and Antoine de Clermont Tonnerre (Philantropy) are producing the project.
John Swihart to Score ‘A Light Beneath Their Feet’
John Swihart has been tapped to score the upcoming indie coming-of-age dramedy A Light Beneath Their Feet. The film is directed by Valerie Weiss and stars Taryn Manning, Madison Davenport, Kurt Fuller, Maddie Hasson and Kali Hawk. The movie follows a high school senior who must choose between the college of her dreams and taking care of her mother living with bipolar disorder. Moira McMahon Leeper wrote the screenplay. Rob Johnson is producing the project and Jeffrey Loeb is executive producing. Swihart has previously collaborated with Weiss on the 2011 comedy Losing Control.
Ronen Landa to Score ‘Eloise’
Ronen Landa has been tapped to write the music for the upcoming psychological thriller Eloise. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Academy Award-winning visual effects supervisor Robert Legato (Titanic, Hugo, Apollo 13) and stars Chace Crawford, Eliza Dushku, Brandon T. Jackson, Robert Patrick and P.J. Byrne. The movie follows four friends who break into a defunct insane asylum and find that the institution not only houses a horrifying history but also the truth about their own tragic pasts. Chris Borrelli (The Vatican Tapes, Whisper) has written the screenplay. Tripp Vinson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose, The Rite, The Number 23) and Sanford Nelson are producing the project for Slam Productions and Vinson Film.
Ramin Djawadi to Score Duncan Jones’ ‘Warcraft’ Movie
Ramin Djawadi has signed on to score the upcoming fantasy adventure Warcraft. The film directed by Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) is based on the popular video game series of the same title and stars Ben Foster, Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Dominic Cooper, Toby Kebbell and Rob Kazinsky. The movie is being described as an origin story and chronicles how the the humans and orcs came into conflict. Jones has also co-written the screenplay with Charles Leavitt (Blood Diamond, K-Pax, The Mighty). Thomas Tull & Jon Jashni (Godzilla, 300: Rise of an Empire, 42) are producing the project for Legendary Pictures, alongside Charles Roven (The Dark Knight, Man of Steel, American Hustle) and Alex Gartner (Get Smart) for Atlas Entertainment.
