Cristobal Tapia de Veer has been tapped to compose the music for the upcoming Channel 4 mini-series National Treasure. The drama is created by Jack Thorne (A Long Way Down, The Black Panthers) and stars Robbie Coltrane, Julie Walters, Andrea Riseborough. The 4-parter one half of a much-loved comedy double act, a national treasure despite Finchley’s career being on the wane. One day his world changes forever when he is accused of raping a woman in the 1970s.. George Ormond and George Faber (Shameless, Skins, The White Queen) are executive producing the project. Marc Munden (The Devil’s Whore, The Crimson Petal and the White) who previously collaborated with the composer on Utopia is directing all four episodes.

Ennio Morricone to Score ‘A Rose in Winter’
Keller Edde Studios announced today that Ennio Morricone is attached to compose the score for the upcoming Holocaust drama A Rose in Winter. The film will be written and directed by Joshua Sinclair (screenwriter of Gigolo & Judgment in Berlin). The movie tells the story of German Jewish philosopher Edith Stein, who was killed by Nazis at Auschwitz on August 9, 1942 after fighting for women’s rights and gender equality in Germany, from the perspective of New York Times journalist Michael Rosten. No casting announcements have been made yet.
John Debney to Score ‘League of Gods’
John Debney is set to compose the music for the upcoming Chinese action fantasy adventure League of Gods. The film is directed by Koan Xu and stars Jet Li, Fan Bingbing, Louis Koo, Angelababy, Andy On and Xu Qing. The movie is based on the 16th century ancient novel Fengshen Bang and tells the story of King Zhou of Shang who becomes a tyrant due to the wiles of Daji, a vixen spirit who is disguised as one of his concubines. Charles Heung and Tiffany Chen are producing the China Star production.
Daniel Pemberton Scoring ‘From the Land of the Moon’
Daniel Pemberton (Steve Jobs, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., The Counselor) has composed the music for the French/Belgian drama From the Land of the Moon (Mal de piers). The film is directed by Nicole Garcia (The Adversary, Place Vendome) and stars Marion Cotillard, Louis Garrel, Alex Brendemühl, Brigitte Rouan, Victoire Du Bois, Aloïse Sauvage and Daniel Para. The movie is based on the novel by Milena Agu and centers on a woman in post-World War II Europe who’s torn between the man she’s meant to marry and a charming war veteran. Garcia has also written the screenplay with Jacques Fieschi (Yves Saint Laurent).
Jun Miyake Scoring Joseph Cedar’s ‘Oppenheimer Strategies’
Jun Miyake has recently composed the music for the upcoming drama Oppenheimer Strategies. The film is written and directed by Joseph Cedar (Footnote, Beaufort) and stars Richard Gere, Michael Sheen, Steve Buscemi, Josh Charles, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Dan Stevens, Isaach De Bankole and Lior Ashkenazi. The movie follows a man whose life dramatically changes after the young politician he befriended during a dark period in his life becomes an influential world leader. Gideon Tadmor is producing the project with Miranda Bailey (The Diary of a Teenage Girl), David Mandil, Lawrence Inglee & Eyal Rimmon (Swiss Army Men) and Oren Moverman (The Messenger, Rampart).
BT to Score ‘The Possibility of Fireflies’
BT is set to compose the score for the upcoming drama The Possibility of Fireflies. The film is directed by Deborah Chow (The High Cost of Living, Flowers in the Atticus) and stars Courtney Love & Joey King. The movie is based on Dominique Paul’s YA novel of the same title and follows a teen who dreams of becoming a writer and finds herself caught in the alluring undertow of a reckless rock ‘n’ roll freedom when she falls in love with an aspiring singer. Paul is also writing the screenplay. Amy Green is producing the project with Canadian musicians Chantal Kreviazuk and Raine Maida who are also collaborating with BT on the film’s soundtrack.
‘Ballerina’ to Feature Score by Klaus Badelt & Songs by Chris Braide
The Weinstein Company has announced that Klaus Badelt is composing the score for the upcoming animated feature Ballerina. Singer/songwriter Chris Braide is writing and producing original songs for the film, which is directed by Eric Summer & Eric Warin and features the voices of Elle Fanning, Maddie Ziegler and Carly Rae Jepsen. The movie is set in 1879 Paris and follows an orphan girl who dreams of becoming a ballerina and moves to Paris, where she passes for someone else and accedes to the position of pupil at the Grand Opera house. Carole Noble and Laurent Zeitoun (The Intouchables) have written the screenplay.
Bruno Coulais Scoring ‘Marie Curie’
Bruno Coulais is scoring the upcoming biographical drama Marie Curie. The film is directed by Marie Noelle (The Anarchist’s Wife) and stars Karolina Gruszka in the title role, alongside Charles Berling, André Wilms, Samuel Finzi, Daniel Olbrychski and Sabin Tambrea. The movie tells the life story of Curie, the first-ever woman to win a Nobel Prize for her achievements in physics in 1903 and who later won another Nobel prize in chemistry in 1911. Noelle has also written the screenplay with Andrea Stoll and is producing the project with Ralf Zimmermann and Mikolaj Pokromski.

Son Lux aka Ryan Lott has recently composed the original music for the upcoming crime thriller Mean Dreams. The film is directed by Nathan Morlando (Citizen Gangster) and stars Josh Wiggins, Sophie Nélisse, Bill Paxton and Colm Feore. The movie follows a 15-year-old boy who steals a bag of drug money and runs away with the girl he loves while her violent and corrupt cop father hunts them down. Kevin Coughlin and Ryan Grassby have written the screenplay. William Woods and Allison Black are producing the project.
Brian Tyler to Score ‘The Mummy’ Reboot
Brian Tyler is set to compose the music for the upcoming fantasy adventure The Mummy. The film is directed by Alex Kurtzman (People Like Us) and stars Tom Cruise, Annabelle Wallis, Sofia Boutella, Jake Johnson, Marwan Kenzari, Courtney B. Vance and Russell Crowe. Jon Spaihts (Prometheus, The Darkest Hours) is writing the screenplay. The reboot of The Mummy franchise is produced by Kurtzman, Chris Morgan (Fast & Furious series, Wanted) and Sean Daniel (The Mummy series, The Wolfman, Dazed and Confused).
