Mychael Danna has recently composed the music for the upcoming family drama A Dog’s Way Home. The film is directed by Charles Martin Smith (Dolphin Tale, Air Bud) and stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Ashley Judd, Jonah Hauer-King, Alexandra Shipp, Wes Studi and Edward James Olmos. The movie based on the book by W. Bruce Cameron chronicles the adventure of Bella, a dog who embarks on an epic 400-mile journey home after she is separated from her beloved human. Cameron also wrote the screenplay with Cathryn Michon (A Dog’s Purpose).

Tom Howe Scoring ‘Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon’
Tom Howe is composing the original score for the upcoming animated feature Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon. The film written and directed by Richard Starzak is the sequel to 2015’s Shaun the Sheep Movie (scored by Ilan Eshkeri) and features the voices of Justin Fletcher and John Sparkes. Paul Kewley is producing the project for Aardman Animations and Nick Park & Peter Lord (Chicken Run, Wallace & Gromit, The Curse of the Were-Rabbit) are among the executive producers. Howe (Professor Marston and the Women Women, Charming) has previously co-scored Aardman’s Early Man with Harry Gregson-Williams.
Tomandandy Scoring John Leonetti’s ‘The Silence’
The composer duo of tomandandy (47 Meters Down, The Strangers, The Mothman Prophecies) is reteaming with director John R. Leonetti (Annabelle, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation) on the upcoming horror thriller The Silence. The film starring Stanley Tucci, Miranda Otto, Kiernan Shipka and John Corbett. The movie is based on the book of the same title by Tim Lebbon and revolves around a family struggling to survive in a world terrorized by a deadly, primeval species who have bred for decades in the pitch darkness of a vast underground cave system, hunting only with their acute hearing.
Randy Edelman to Score ‘Backdraft II’
Randy Edelman (The Last of the Mohicans, While You Were Sleeping, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, xXx) has signed on to score the upcoming action drama Backdraft II. The film is directed by Gonzalo López-Gallego (Apollo 18, Open Grave) and stars William Baldwin who will reprise his role from Ron Howard’s 1991 original movie (scored by Hans Zimmer), alongside Joe Anderson, Alisha Bailey, Ross O’Hennessy, Sal Longbardo and Sia Alipour. Donald Sutherland is also rumored to make an appearance.
Antonio Pinto Scoring Chiwetel Ejiofor’s ‘The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind’
Antonio Pinto (City of God, McFarland, USA, Lord of War, Self/less) has recently composed the music for the upcoming drama The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind. The film marks the feature directorial debut of actor Chiwetel Ejiofor who also stars in the movie alongside Maxwell Simba, Aïssa Maïga, Lily Banda, Lemogang Tsipa, Philbert Falakeza, Joseph Marcell and Noma Dumezweni. The movie is based on the book of the same title written by William Kamkwamba & Bryan Mealer and tells the story of a 13-year-old boy who helps his village by building a wind turbine after reading about them in a library book. Ejifor also wrote the screenplay.
Marco Beltrami Scoring Dan Gilroy’s ‘Velvet Buzzsaw’
Marco Beltrami is composing the original score for the upcoming horror thriller Velvet Buzzsaw. The film is written and directed by Dan Gilroy and stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Rene Russo, Zawe Ashton, Natalia Dyer, Tom Sturridge, Daveed Diggs, Toni Collette, John Malkovich and Billy Magnussen. The movie follows a group of big-money artists and mega-collectors who pay a high price when art collides with commerce. Jennifer Fox (Michael Clayton, The Informant!, We Need to Talk About Kevin) is producing the project.
Steve Jablonsky to Score ‘Bloodshot’ Film Adaptation
Steve Jablonsky (Transformers, The Island, Deepwater Horizon, Ender’s Game, Skyscraper) has signed on to score the upcoming film adaptation of the comic book series Bloodshot. The film is directed by Dave Wilson and stars Vin Diesel, Guy Pearce, Eiza Gonzalez, Lamorne Morris, Toby Kebbell, Sam Heughan, Talulah Riley and Alex Hernandez. The movie based on the Valiant property created by Kevin Van Hook, Don Perlin & Bob Layton tells the story of a mortally wounded soldier resurrected with cutting-edge nanotechnology who is tasked with rounding up superpowered outcasts known as “harbingers.”
Tim Jones Scoring Brian A. Miller’s ‘Backtrace’
Tim Jones (Chuck, Human Target, Cult, Office Uprising, Beast of Burden) has recently scored the upcoming thriller Backtrace. The film is directed by Brian A. Miller (Officer Down, Reprisal, Vice) and stars Sylvester Stallone, Ryan Guzman, Matthew Modine, Meadow Williams and Christopher McDonald. The movie revolves around the lone surviving thief of a violent armored car robbery as he is sprung from a high security facility and administered an experimental drug. Mike Maples wrote the screenplay.
Cristobal Tapia de Veer to Score Nicolas Pesce’s ‘Grudge’ Reboot
Cristobal Tapia de Veer (Utopia, The Girl with All the Gifts, National Treasure, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency) has been hired to score the upcoming supernatural horror thriller Grudge. The film is written and directed by Nicolas Pesce (Piercing, The Eyes of My Mother) and stars John Cho, Demián Bichir, Jacki Weaver, Betty Gilpin, Lin Shaye and Andrea Riseborough. The movie is a reboot of 2004’s The Grudge (scored by Christopher Young), which was based on the Japanese horror feature Ju-on: The Grudge and revolves around a house that is haunted by a vengeful ghost that curses those who enter it…with a violent death.
Marcelo Zarvos Scoring Roxann Dawson’s ‘Breakthrough’
Marcelo Zarvos is composing the music for the upcoming faith-based drama Breakthrough. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Roxann Dawson who has previously helmed numerous episodes of such shows as The Americans and House of Cards and stars Chrissy Metz, Topher Grace, Mike Colter, Marcel Ruiz, Josh Lucas and Isaac Kragten. The movie is based on Joyce Smith’s book The Impossible: The Miraculous Story of a Mother’s Faith and Her Child’s Resurrection about of the miraculous recovery of her son who fell through a frozen lake in Missouri one winter and was proclaimed lifeless.
