Ryuichi Sakamoto (The Revenant, The Last Emperor, The Sheltering Sky, Snake Eyes) has been tapped to score the upcoming Chinese drama Love After Love. The film is directed by Ann Hui (A Simple Life, Our Time Will Come, The Golden Era) and stars Eddie Peng and Ma Sichun. The movie is based on Eileen Chang’s short story Aloeswood Incense and tells the story of a young woman from Shanghai who travels to Hong Kong, borrows money, and falls in with a rich crowd whose luxury lifestyle is beyond her means. Wang Anyi (Everlasting Regret) wrote the screenplay. The movie is produced by Alibaba Pictures, Hehe Pictures and Blue Bird Film.

Ryuichi Sakamoto Scoring Andrew Levitas’ ‘Minamata’
Ryūichi Sakamoto (The Revenant, The Last Emperor, The Sheltering Sky, Snake Eyes) has composed the original music for the upcoming drama Minamata. The film is directed by Andrew Levitas (Lullaby) and stars Johnny Depp, Hiroyuki Sanada, Minami, Bill Nighy, Jun Kunimura, Ryo Kase, Tadanobu Asano, Akiko Iwase and Katherine Jenkins. The movie centers on celebrated war photographer W. Eugene Smith has become a recluse as he travels back to Japan to investigate the poisoning of the inhabitants of a fishing village called Minamata. Levitas also co-wrote the screenplay with David K. Kessler, Stephen Deuters and Jason Forman.
Soundtrack Album for Luca Guadagnino’s ‘The Staggering Girl’ to Be Released
Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for Luca Guadagnino’s short The Staggering Girl. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Ryuichi Sakamoto (The Revenant, The Last Emperor, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, Little Buddha, Snake Eyes). The soundtrack will be released digitally on February 14 and is now available for pre-order here. A vinyl edition is also in the works. The Staggering Girl is directed by Guadagnino and stars Julianne Moore, Mia Goth, KiKi Layne, Kyle MacLachlan, Marthe Keller and Alba Rohrwacher.
‘Proxima’ Soundtrack Details
Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for Proxima. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Ryuichi Sakamoto (The Revenant, The Last Emperor, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, Snake Eyes, Femme Fatale). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, November 22 and will be available to stream/download here. Proxima is written and directed by Alice Winocour and stars Eva Green, Matt Dillon, Zélie Boulant-Lemesle, Aleksey Fateev, Lars Eidinger and Sandra Hüller. The movie centers on an astronaut and mother who grapples with her commitment to her daughter as she undergoes gruelling physical training for a one-year stint in space.

Ryuichi Sakamoto (The Revenant, The Last Emperor, The Sheltering Sky, Snake Eyes) is attached to score the upcoming thriller Born to Be Murdered. The film is directed by Ferdinando Cito Filomarino (Antonia) and stars John David Washington, Alicia Vikander, Boyd Holbrook and Vicky Krieps. The movie set in Athens and the Epirus region of Greece, where a vacationing couple fall trap to a violent conspiracy with tragic consequences. Kevin Rice wrote the screenplay. Luca Guadagnino & Marco Morabito (Call Me By Your Name, Suspiria) are producing the project for their Frenesy Films production company.
Ryuichi Sakamoto to Compose Theme for Yoshihiro Hanno’s ‘Paradise Next’
Variety is reporting that Ryuichi Sakamoto (The Revenant, The Last Emperor, The Sheltering Sky, Snake Eyes) will be composing the theme for the upcoming drama Paradise Next. The film is directed by Japanese composer Yoshihiro Hanno (Mountains May Depart, Dragonfly Eyes) who previously helmed the 2015 feature A Woman Wavering in the Rain) and is set to star Satoshi Tsumbuki and Etsushi Toyokawa. The movie is being described as “a road movie involving two hit men on a journey of atonement.”
‘Call Me By Your Name’ Soundtrack Details
The full details of soundtrack album for Luca Guadagnino’s Call Me By Your Name have been revealed. The album features the film’s original songs written and performed by singer/songwriter Sufjan Stevens, as well as tracks by Ryuichi Sakamoto (The Revenant, The Last Emperor), John Adams, Bandolero, Giorgio Moroder & Joe Esposito, Frank Glazer & more. The soundtrack will be released digitally on November 3, 2017 (click here to download) by Madison Gate Records and physically on November 17 by Sony Classical and is now available to order as an import on Amazon. A digital version is also expected to come out within the next few weeks. Call Me By Your Name is written by James Ivory, directed by Guadagnino and stars Armie Hammer, Timothée Chalamet, Michael Stuhlbarg, Amira Casar and Esther Garrel. The movie explores the relationship that blooms over the course of one summer between a 17-year-old boy on the cusp of adulthood and his father’s research assistant.
Ryuichi Sakamoto’s ‘Rage’ Soundtrack to Receive U.S. Release
Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the Korean thriller Rage (Ikari) in the U.S. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Ryuichi Sakamoto (The Last Emperor, The Revenant, Snake Eyes, The Sheltering Sky). A CD version is currently set to be released on October 27, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The soundtrack has previously been released in Korea and Japan last fall. Rage is directed by Sang-il Lee and stars Ken Watanabe, Mirai Moriyama, Kenichi Matsuyama, Go Ayano, Suzu Hirose, Aoi Miyazaki, Satoshi Tsumabuki and Takara Sakumoto. The movie tells the story of a grisly unsolved murder that links three seemingly unrelated stories in three different Japanese cities.
