Alan Silvestri is set to reteam with Robert Zemeckis on the upcoming fantasy drama The Women of Marwen. The film starring Steve Carell, Leslie Mann, Janelle Monae, Eiza Gonzalez, Diane Kruger, Falk Hentschel and Gwendoline Christie is based on Jeff Malmberg’s 2010 documentary Marwencol about a man who builds a miniature WWII-era village to help him get over a terrible life event. Zemeckis has also co-written the screenplay with Caroline Thompson (Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas) and is producing the ImageMovers production with Jack Rapke & Steve Starkey (Cast Away, What Lies Beneath) and Cherylanne Martin.

Complete ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’ Soundtrack Announced
Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack album for Robert Zemeckis’ 1988 classic Who Framed Roger Rabbit starring Bob Hoskins, Christopher Lloyd, Stubby Kaye, Charles Fleischer and Joanna Cassidy. The 3-CD set features the complete original score from the Touchstone Pictures production composed and conducted by Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, The Avengers, Cast Away, The Croods, Captain America: The First Avenger), including more than 50 minutes of previously unreleased music, as well as alternate cues on the first two discs and the content of the original 1988 album on the third disc. Also included is the world premiere release of Bruce Broughton‘s music from the 1990/1993 animated shorts Rollercoaster Rabbit and Trail Mix-Up, as well as James Horner‘s score from 1989’s Tummy Trouble.
‘Allied’ Soundtrack Details
The full details of the soundtrack album for Robert Zemeckis’ romantic thriller Allied have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Academy Award nominee Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, Cast Away, The Avengers, Captain America: The First Avenger). Also included are five swing classics as featured in the movie by Benny Goodman, Louis Primas & more. Allied stars Brad Pitt, Marion Cotillard, Jared Harris, Lizzy Caplan, Simon McBurney, Daniel Betts, Camille Cottin, August Diehl and Matthew Goode. The movie follows an intelligence officer, who in 1942 North Africa encounters a French Resistance fighter on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Reunited in London, their relationship is threatened by the extreme pressures of the war.
Alan Silvestri to Score Robert Zemeckis’ Untitled World War II Spy Drama
Alan Silvestri mentioned in an interview with Nerdist that he is set to reteam with Robert Zemeckis on the director’s upcoming currently untitled World War II spy drama. Brad Pitt and Mario Cotillard are attached to star in the film, which follows an Allied counter-intelligence agent who falls in love with during a dangerous North African mission and is quietly notified that the woman he has married and had a baby with is likely a Nazi spy. Steven Knight (Eastern Promises, Locke, Dirty Pretty Things) has written the screenplay. Zemeckis is also producing the Paramount, New Regency and GK Films production with Graham King (The Departed, Hugo, Rango) and Steve Starkey (Cast Away, Matchstick Men).

The movie stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ben Kingsley, James Badge Dale, Ben Schwartz, Charlotte Le Bon, Clément Sibony and César Domboy. The film is based on Philippe Petit’s book To Reach the Clouds and tells the true story of the French high-wire artist’s attempt to cross the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in 1974. Zemeckis wrote the screenplay with Christopher Browne and is also producing the project with Steve Starkey (Forrest Gump, Contact) and Jack Rapke (Cast Away, Flight, Matchstick Men).
‘Back to the Future’ Musical Update
In 2012, we reported that composer Alan Silvestri was in talks to transfer his music for Robert Zemeckis’ classic Back to the Future into a Broadway stage musical. Today, it was announced that the musical is headed for the London stage and is scheduled to open in the movie’s 30th anniversary in 2015. Silvestri is writing new original songs for the production with Glen Ballard. They previously collaborated on songs for the features The Polar Express, Beowulf and last year’s The Croods. The musical will also feature additional music from the film by Huey Lewis & The News and will incorporate Silvestri’s score from the movie. The stage production’s book is written by Zemeckis, Bob Gale and Jamie Lloyd who will also be directing the Amblin Entertainment, Colin Ingram, Universal Stage Productions, Donovan Mannato and CJ E&M production.
Alan Silvestri’s ‘Flight’ Score Available Online
The full score for Robert Zemeckis’ drama Flight has been made available online by Paramount Pictures. The music is written by Academy Award-nominated composer Alan Silvestri who has worked with the director for almost three decades on movies including Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, Cast Away and The Polar Express. As the movie features just a little over 20 minutes of score, no soundtrack album has been announced yet. Flight starring Denzel Washington, Kelly Reilly, Don Cheadle, Bruce Greenwood, John Goodman, Melissa Leo and James Badge Dale tells the story of an airline pilot with substance abuse issues who saves 98 lives when a damaged engine threatens an airplane flight.
Alan Silvestri to Score Dreamworks Animation’s ‘The Croods’
Alan Silvestri has revealed in a recent interview with Hollywood.com that he is attached to score Dreamworks Animation’s upcoming feature The Croods. The film written and directed by Chris Sanders and Kirk DeMicare follows The Croods, an introverted family, who find themselves guided out of their cave into this dynamic world by a resourceful newcomer who may bring more stress than relief to the patriarch of the family. The film’s voice talent includes Ryan Reynolds, Nicolas Cage, Catherine Keener, Emma Stone, Clark Duke and Cloris Leachman. The 3D animated feature is produced by Kristine Belson (How to Train Your Dragon) and Jane Hartwell (Shrek). The movie marks Silvestri’s first project for Dreamworks Animation. He has previously collaborated with Chris Sanders on Disney’s 2002 feature Lilo and Stitch.
