Walt Disney Records has released a new soundtrack album for Pixar’s animated feature Soul. The album features eight jazz selections from and inspired by the film by Jon Batiste who received his first Academy Award this year for his work on the movie. Five of the tracks included on the record have previously only been released as part of the vinyl jazz album released last December. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and other digital music services. The original soundtrack, which also includes the original score by Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross, as well as another vinyl edition featuring the composers’ score have previously been released at the time of the film’s release.

ASTU’s Song ‘Hold the Line’ from Pixar SparkShorts’ ‘Twenty Something’ Released
Walt Disney Records has released the original song Hold the Line from Pixar Animation Studios’ SparkShorts title Twenty Something. The track, which is featured in the short’s end credits sequence, is written and performed by singer/songwriter ASTU and is now available to stream/download on Amazon and other digital music stores. Also listen to the full song below. Twenty Something is directed by Aphton Corbin, produced by Erik Langley and follows a young woman as he deals with “adulting” on the night of her 21st birthday.
‘Dug Days’ Soundtrack Album Details
Walt Disney Records will release a soundtrack album for Pixar Animation Studios’ Disney+ original animated shorts series Dug Days. The album features the original music from the five shorts composed by Andrea Datzman (Alcatraz, Undercovers) and Curtis Green . The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, September 1 and will be available to stream/download here. Dug Days is written and directed by Bob Peterson and follows the misadventures of Dug, the lovable dog from the Disney/Pixar feature Up (scored by Michael Giacchino whose Academy Award-winning music is referenced in Datzman’s & Green’s score), whose high-tech collar translates his thoughts into speech.
Andrea Datzman & Curtis Green Scoring Disney+’s ‘Dug Days’
Andrea Datzman & Curtis Green have composed the original score for the new Disney+ shorts series Dug Days. The show is written and directed by Bob Peterson (Up, Finding Nemo, Cars 3) and follows the misadventures of Dug, the lovable dog from the Disney/Pixar feature Up ,whose high-tech collar translates his thoughts into speech. Each short features everyday events that occur in and around Dug’s backyard, all through the eyes of the title character. Kim Collins is producing the Pixar Animation Studios production.
Ludwig Göransson to Score Pixar’s ‘Turning Red’
Ludwig Göransson (Black Panther, Tenet, Creed, Venom, Community) has been tapped to score the upcoming animated feature Turning Red. The film is directed by Domee Shi (Bao) and features the voices of Rosalie Chiang and Sandra Oh. The movie revolves around a 13-year-old girl who suddenly “poofs” into a giant red panda when she gets too excited and her over-protective, mother who is never far from her daughter. Lindsey Collins (Finding Dory, John Carter) is producing the Pixar Animation Studios production.
‘Luca’ Soundtrack Album Details
Walt Disney Records will release a soundtrack album for Pixar Animation Studios’ animated feature Luca. The album features the film’s original music composed by Dan Romer (Beasts of the Southern Wild, Maniac, Beasts of No Nation, The Good Doctor, Superman & Lois, Wendy). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, June 18 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Luca is directed by Enrico Casarosa and features the voices of Jacob Tremblay, Jack Dylan Grazer, Emma Berman, Maya Rudolph, Saverio Raimondo, Marco Barricelli, Jim Gaffigan and Sandy Martin. The movie is set in a beautiful seaside town on the Italian Riviera and tells the story of young boy experiencing an unforgettable summer with his new best friend, but all the fun is threatened by a deeply-held secret: they are sea monsters from another world just below the water’s surface.

Last month, Dan Romer (Beasts of the Southern Wild, Beasts of No Nation, Maniac, Wendy) has recorded his score for Pixar’s upcoming animated feature Luca. The film is directed by Enrico Casarosa (La Luna) and features the voice talent of Jacob Tremblay, Jack Dylan Grazer, Emma Berman, Maya Rudolph, Marco Barricelli and Jim Gaffigan. The movie is set in a beautiful seaside town on the Italian Riviera and tells the coming-of-age story about one young boy experiencing an unforgettable summer filled with gelato, pasta and endless scooter rides.

The album features both the film’s original score composed by Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (The Social Network, Watchmen, Gone Girl, Mank), as well as the original jazz compositions and arrangements by Jon Batiste. Also included are the songs Rappin Ced performed by Daveed Diggs, Parting Ways performed by Cody ChesnuTT, as well as Batiste’s cover of the Curtis Mayfield classic It’s All Right. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here. As announced last week, the label is also releasing two separate vinyl editions featuring Reznor’s & Ross’ score and Batiste’s jazz music today. The album features the original jazz compositions and arrangements from and inspired by the film by Grammy Award nominee Jon Batiste. Also included is his cover of the Curtis Mayfield classic It’s All Right. The soundtrack will be released on vinyl on December 18 (visit Amazon to pre-order). A digital version featuring both the jazz tracks and Trent Reznor’s & Atticus Ross score, which is being released separately on vinyl, will be coming out on the same day. Soul is directed by Pete Docter and stars Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, Ahmir Questlove Thompson, Phylicia Rashad and Daveed Diggs. The movie follows a middle-school band teacher who gets the chance of a lifetime to play at the best jazz club in town, when he is taken from the streets of New York City to The Great Before – a fantastical place where new souls get their personalities, quirks and interests before they go to Earth.
