Marc Streitenfeld has been tapped to score the upcoming crime drama Things People Do. The film marks the directorial debut of the Academy Award-nominated editor Saar Klein (The Thin Red Line, Almost Famous) and stars Wes Bentley, Vinessa Shaw, Haley Bennett and Jason Isaacs. The movie follows a family man who loses his job and embarks on a life of crime. He befriends a detective and a female stranger who shows him kindness, which inspires him to commit a crime in her honor. Klein has co-written the screenplay with Joe Conway (Undertow, Paradise, Texas). Sarah Green (The Tree of Life, Frida, Mud), Hans Graffunder and Christos V. Konstantakopoulos (Before Midnight) are producing the project. Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Mr. & Mrs. Smith) is among the executive producers.

Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the thriller Killing Them Softly directed by Andrew Dominik and starring Brad Pitt, Richard Jenkins, James Gandolfini, Ray Liotta, Scott McNairy, Ben Mendelsohn, Vincent Curatola, Max Casella and Sam Shepard. While the film doesn’t feature a full score, Marc Streitenfeld (Prometheus, American Gangster) is credited as providing piano pieces and musical ambiances. Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring one track by Streitenfeld, as well as the film’s songs by artists including Carl Stone, The Velvet Underground, James Wilsey, Nico, Kitty Lester and The Wreckery. Also opening wide is the horror thriller The Collection directed by Marcus Dunstan and starring Josh Stewart, Lee Tergesen, Christopher McDonald and Emma Fitzpatrick. Charlie Clouser (Saw series, Numbers) has composed the film’s original score. No soundtrack album has been released. The movie is a sequel to the 2009 horror film The Collector and is being distributed by LD Entertainment. Lakeshore Records has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the thriller Killing Them Softly. The album features the film’s songs by artists including Carl Stone, The Velvet Underground, James Wilsey, Nico, Kitty Lester and The Wreckery. Also included is one track by composer Marc Streitenfeld who is credited as providing piano pieces and musical ambiances. Interscope Records has released a soundtrack album featuring selections from the film’s score composed by Hans Zimmer, as well as the songs featured in the movie by Peter Asher, Yolanda Be Cool and Katy Perry. The full details of the soundtrack release for Ridley Scott’s highly anticipated sci-fi horror film Prometheus have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Marc Streitenfeld (Robin Hood, American Gangster), as well as two tracks from the additional music written by Harry Gregson-Williams. The soundtrack will be released on June 12, 2012 by Sony Masterworks and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips will be added to this article within the next few weeks. First up is the soundtrack for Ridley Scott’s sci-fi horror thriller Prometheus. The album features the original music from the film by Marc Streitenfeld (American Gangster, Robin Hood). More details are expected to be announced within the next couple of weeks. The soundtrack is scheduled for a release on June 5, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The film’s music is composed by Marc Streitenfeld who has become go-to composer of Ridley Scott (who is producing The Grey) over the last couple of years, having previously scored such films as American Gangster and Robin Hood. Also opening wide is the action thriller Man on a Ledge directed by Asger Leth and starring Sam Worthington, Elizabeth Banks, Ed Harris, Jamie Bell, Anthony Mackie, Genesis Rodriguez, Edward Burns and Kyra Sedgwick. Henry Jackman (X-Men: First Class, Puss in Boots) has written the music for the film. Summit Entertainment has released a soundtrack album featuring Jackman’s music. The album is already available to download and the CD version will be released on February 7. Marc Streitenfeld to Reunite with Ridley Scott on ‘Prometheus’
Ain’t It Cool News is reporting that Marc Streitenfeld will be scoring Ridley Scott’s upcoming sci-fi epic Prometheus. The composer’s involvement has been expected given his relationship with the director. Streitenfeld has scored Scott’s previous four movies American Gangster, A Good Year, Body of Lies and last year’s Robin Hood. Prometheus stars Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green, and Ben Foster. Very little information has been revealed about the film’s plot so far, but it has been reported that the story will involve a team of scientists whose spaceship gets marooned on a distant planet and that the storyline will be connected to Scott’s 1979 classic Alien.

Marc Streitenfeld is scoring the upcoming action drama The Grey. The movie is directed by Joe Carnahan and star Liam Neeson, Dermot Mulroney, Dallas Roberts, JoeAnderson and James Badge Dale. The film is based on a short story by Ian Jeffers and centers on a group of oil-rig roughnecks who are left stranded on the sub-arctic tundra after their plane experiences a complete mechanical failure and crashes into the remote Alaskan wilderness. The survivors, battling mortal injuries, biting cold and ravenous hunger, are relentlessly hunted and pursued by a vicious pack of rogue wolves. The project is produced by Ridley and Tony Scott, as well as Carnahan, Jules Daly (The A-Team) and Mickey Liddell (Go, Everwood). Streitenfeld has previously scored Ridley Scott’s last four directorial efforts, as well as last year’s drama Welcome to the Rileys produced by Scott.
