According to the film’s latest poster, Varese Sarabande will release the soundtrack album for the upcoming sci-fi action drama Elysium. The album features the film’s original score composed by Ryan Amon who makes his feature scoring debut on the project and has previously written the music for numerous trailers through his motion picture advertising company, City of the Fallen. Check back on this page for the full album details to be revealed in a couple of weeks. Elysium is written and directed by Neil Blomkamp (District 9) and stars Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, Wagner Moura, Alice Braga, William Fichtner, Diego Luna and Carly Pope. The film is set on a space station occupied by the very wealthy while the rest of humanity lives on a ravaged, overpopulated Earth. The movie will be released nationwide on August 9 by Sony Pictures.

Thomas Wander and Harald Kloser Scoring Roland Emmerich’s ‘White House Down’
Thomas Wander and Harald Kloser are currently composing the score for the upcoming action thriller White House Down. The film is directed by Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, Stargate) and stars Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx, Maggie Gyllenhaal, James Woods, Richard Jenkins, Joey King and Rachelle Lefevre. The movie follows a Secret Service agent who is tasked with rescuing the president from a paramilitary group that has taken over the White House. James Vanderbilt (The Amazing Spider-Man, Zodiac) has written the screenplay. Kloser also serves as producer on the film alongside Emmerich, Vanderbilt, Bradley Fischer & Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island) and Larry Franco (Batman Begins, Hulk).

Three movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
Opening in most theaters this week is Dreamworks Animation’s Puss in Boots directed by Chris Miller and featuring the voice talent of Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Zach Galifianakis and Billy Bob Thornton. The film’s music is composed by Henry Jackman. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring Jackman’s music, as well as two tracks by Rodrigo y Gabriela this past Tuesday. Also opening wide is the sci-fi thriller In Time directed by Andrew Niccol and starring Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, Olivia Wilde, Cillian Murphy and Alex Pettyfer. The film’s score is composed by Craig Armstrong. A soundtrack album featuring Armstrong’s music has been released digitally earlier this week by Lakeshore Records. ‘Anonymous’ Soundtrack Details
Madison Gate Records has released the official soundtrack album for Roland Emmerich’s period thriller Anonymous. The album features the original score by composers Harald Kloser and Thomas Wander. The album is available as an on demand CD-R on Amazon, as well as digitally on iTunes. Anonymous stars Rhys Ifans, Joely Richardson, Vanessa Redgrave, Jamie Campbell Bower and David Thewlis and revolves around the widespread theory that William Shakespeare was not the real author of his plays. The movie will be released in theaters this Friday, October 28.
Harald Kloser to Co-Write and Co-Produce Roland Emmerich’s ‘Singularity’
Deadline reports that composer/screenwriter/producer Harald Kloser co-wrote the screenplay for Roland Emmerich’s upcoming science fiction movie Singularity, which he is also co-producing. No word yet on if he will be writing the score for the film as well, but given his previous work with the director, it is assumed that he will also be involved in the music for the project. No information about the movie’s plot has been revealed yet. Kloser previously co-wrote the scripts for Emmerich’s 10’000 BC and 2012 and co-scored both movies with composer Thomas Wander. Sony Pictures has set a May 17, 2013 release date for Singularity.

Film Music Reporter has learned that Harald Kloser and Thomas Wander have been hired to score Roland Emmerich’s latest movie Anonymous. The political thriller centers around who actually wrote the plays of William Shakespeare set against the backdrop of the succession of Queen Elizabeth I, and the Essex Rebellion against her. The movie currently in post-production stars Rhys Ifans, Joely Richardson, Vanessa Redgrave, Jamie Campbell Bower and David Thewlis.
